Hey guys, I'm really getting fed up with my Protank and about to buy a couple different clearos to try, hoping for better results.. My Protank is giving me so many problems - coils only lasting a couple days, dry hits, and now my (2nd) one is somehow leaking from the top of the glass where it meets the metal mouthpiece, which is causing it to leak the entire tank out, so I can't even use it at all right now.

So I was going to buy an eVod or 2 since I heard how great they work, heard they're like the Protank except without the typical problems and it's smaller. But now I'm seeing the new T3S "Rebuildable" Clearo - which has separate coils that screw into the bottom piece just like the protank/eVod, but it's the size and shape of the normal T3.
.... I had a T3 a few months ago and it usually just leaked all over the place and gave me a plastic-like taste so I gave it away. I'm hoping if I get the T3S, I won't have the same leaking/taste problems?

So have any of you (preferably those of you have tried the T3S, T3, eVod, and Protank lol), tried the T3S and how did it perform? Should I just got with the eVod instead??
Gonna order another Protank too (my 3rd) and start rebuilding my own wicks for it.. It seems like my T2 is the only clearo that is consistent for me - coils last weeks (instead of 3 days max for the PT), never leaks or gurgles, hardly ever get a dry hit, and good throat hit/decent flavor (pt gives better flavor though that's why I love it still)

Thanks in advance! :p

Where are you getting the protanks from? It's weird that both are bad.

You say the T2 never dry hits but the protank does, do you vape with the battery angled upward?

Rebuilding will certainly help with performance and reliability once you get it figured out. I rebuild everything and just ignore all the wicking complaints of anything I want to try. My theory is, everything can be made to work and it usually can be made to work better than stock. I use T3 and EVOD clearos rebuilt with cotton wicks and they work just fine. My T3 grommets are starting to wear out from being stabbed with tweezers so many times, so I just ordered the T3S conversion head to try out.

Thanks for the reply! No I don't tip my battery when using the PT.. My 1st one I got from ivape.net (for about $14, without fancy box) and had it for about a month or 2 before it cracked and than shattered. Than a friend gave me his PT because he didn't like it (said it leaked and hardly ever worked good, coils go too fast), and I've had it for about 10 days.

This 2nd PT started leaking from the top where the glass meets the metal mouthpiece, I noticed this last night and I think it's because I was driving around with it sitting in my center console, and I think it bounced around a bit and caused the leak. Or from screwing the base on too tight, but either way, out of nowhere it started leaking profusely from the bottom and from the top, can't use it at all.

i use a protank and t3, t3 mini. i use t3s heads in both the protank and the mini. the only time i have any leakage,
is when refilling, and thats with all the bottom fed clearos i have tried.its seems a little juice runs out the tube when i turn them upside down and take off the head.i usually just stick a q tip in the tip when i refill. havent had to rebuild a t3s head yet, they are still doing fine with a rinse off. did a t3 tonite with ss mesh, and it made a huge difference in it. never have had a dry hit on protank, not sure what ya got goin on there, like cloudz said though, a rebuild should help ya out a lot.

Thanks barefoot, you're talking about the new T3S, where the coil screws onto the bottom piece like the eVod/PT right?? I think I'm going to order 2 Protanks, the new T3S, 1 pack of Protank coils (2.5ohm), and some silica and kanthal to try rebuilding for the first time (I wish discountVapers had kanthal wire and wick in-stock so I can order everything from one place!)

And of course, some T2 coils

It seems like yesterday, everyone was telling me "Get a Protank! You won't be disappointed! They're great! They never go wrong!" And today, everywhere I look online, its "My protank is leaking all over the place, the coils only last 2-3 days, my Protank made the baby Jesus cry and now I have to use something made of plastic!" What the hell happened over night!?

yes the new t3s head,it is the same as a protank head, they interchange.as far as them lasting, i have several,i just change em out every couple days, i have a small bottle with vodka in it, i just drop the old one in, when ready to clean just take out of bottle rinse off under tap, shake the water out,dry burn a couple pulses, put it back in.seems the darker the juice is the sooner they need changing. like i said though i change em every couple days anyway.

They make T2 coils with long wicks that help with the dry hits, discount vapers sells them but last time I looked he was out of stock.
The evod is also a changeable coil like the T3s.

Cloudz, This place has grommets you can use for the T3 and shipping is very cheap. They are very easy to get back on and I never had a problem using them AGA Series Positive Post Insulators - 10 pack - Kidney Puncher

Well I've been doing evods for 4+ months and Protanks for 2 mos. or so, they're ok.

Yesterday I got 2 T3s's in the mail around 4PM and loaded the first one up with ejuice, right at 3ml. after prewetting the wick and coil pretty good. For my normal use I vaped the hell out of it and had burned thru the 3 ml. by 10:30PM last night. The coil new Ohmed out at 2.1 Ohms. I ran it from beginning to end on my twist at 4.1 to 4.5 volts.

I thought it vaped as well if not a bit better than the evod and Protank. The 3 ml. capacity is nicer, imo. Scarcely had any dry hits, never gurgled until a bit less than 0.5 ml. at the bottom. I ran it on down to the top of the vinyl(whatever it is) seal at the top of the coil/wick section, stopped just short of burning it probably. Re filled it without any maintenance and using today, about 2 ml. burned already, and it's doing good.

Pretty good and ok, imo. Not as rich and full a vape though as my Reo BF and RM2 atomizer rebuildable.

Good hunting.

Thanks guys! Yeah I'm definitely gonna start rebuilding my own wicks.. I think I'm gonna get a T3s and a couple more Protanks, I'm just hoping the T3s doesn't give me that plastic-like taste that the regular T3 gave me?? And hopefully doesn't leak like it either..

lynch, yeah I'm actually about to order from DV.. I like the long-wick version better for the T2, but DV is out-of-stock and Eric doesn't know when he'll be getting them next

I had a couple of T3s and HATED them. They worked like a champ for a day, and then, the very next day, all I got were gurgles and wet hits and juice in the mouth no matter what I tried.

I have an evod, and it works just fine, but I have many protanks in rotation with little to no problems. Protanks tend to gurgle when they're half full...something about the pressure build up. A quick clean of the shafts, and I'm back in business with no gurgles to the last drop.

I have had luck with taking one of the two flavor wicks out as it helps with re-wicking a bit.

The one that is leaking at the top where the glass is glued to the metal mouthpiece sounds like it's just a defective one. That happened to me with my very first Protank. Luckily, the vendor replaced it lickity split. This has happened to a couple other folks, and they fixed it with aquarium glue (this can take the moisture).

This place has them for a little more money and I've ordered from them without a problem if you dont want to wait.

They are all (Evod - Protank - T3/T3S/MT3/MT3S) the same lineup. The T3 series (T3 and MT3) is going away, replaced with the T3S series (T3S and MT3S) which uses the same coils as the Protanks. The Evod uses a slightly smaller tube on the coil, which otherwise is the same..

While I haven't tried a protank, I do have the evods as of yesterday and have had the MT3/MT3S for several months and I enjoy both!!
I do not get leaks or dry hits. I've even been rebuilding the coils, which is very easy!

Thanks SD, which do you like better, the eVod or MT3S and why? I'm going to start rebuilding my coils myself as well, watched the GrimGreen vid on it yesterday and it seems really simple!

The evods have a tighter draw which I like. But!!! I replaced one of my MT tubes with an evod tube (the top piece on the coil) and that tightened it up perfectly..

Capacity, MT3S
Draw, Evod (but I have plenty of replacement coils to change that in the MT3S)

So other than the holding capacity, it doesn't seem to matter to me. The evod does look better on my eCab and X6 though!

Awesome thanks. What about in terms of flavor and amount/thickness of the vapor they give?

They are all just about the same design, so they vape similarly. That is, if you can compare any of them at the same settings while they are not flooding or dry hitting. Once you start rebuilding, they vape exactly the same if you have the same coil in them.
