Anybody Using A Kabuki?

After spending the past few days reading this thread from beginning to end I just had to sign up and say Hi! I think I deserve a prize! I happened upon a youtube video featuring Zen and yes, Yes, YES ! I totally share his outlook. Ended up watching all the videos Zen is in (and the provape factory tour) and that led me to this thread. . . .

I'm a new vaper - was a chainsmoker and after a month am still amazed that I've been able to give up the analogues :w00t: I've tried subohming but it's just totally unnatural to me, I'm not a fan, nor do I understand all this cloud chasing nonsense or the megawatt race. To me flavour is far more important. But hey, each to their own!

After trying a few tanks I've ended up with a Nautilus on an SVD 2.0 My sweet spot with the 1.8 coil is 9.6 watts, which appears to be about the same as many other people. I mix my own 90%VG 5% H2O juice using Flavourart (PG) concentrates. Co-incidentally I find the Naughty BVC coils to be brilliant and indestructible - soak in Vodka, dry on the radiator for a couple of days, and they'll last forever! (other opinions are available).

After reading and watching reviews of just about everything available out there, to me logically there's only one way to go - P3 with a Kabuki. Hopefully Santa will bring me one! But I want purple O rings, and from what I can gather the 19mm ones from IBTanked will fit? (please correct me if I'm wrong).

This thread is a mine of information, it really needs someone knowledgeable to go through it and index all the important points, especially the things like don't wash out the tanks in hot/boiling water, and the stuff about the coil threads etc.

Also, please forgive me, I really don't want to restart the temp control discussion again but I really felt like jumping in at that point and saying that what people call 'temperature control' Mods are actually 'temperature limiting' Mods. Zen is right, true temperature control doesn't exist at this point in time, but like him I'm really looking forward to it coming, if it ever does which I don't hold out much hope for.

It's a great pity I'm in the UK because I'd absolutely love to visit Zen's Vapour Lounge and maybe meet Zen himself. Oh well :(

Anyways, just wanted to say Hi, and I'm so glad that people like Zen and Provape exist and really REALLY hope that whatever forthcoming regulations in the USA (and Europe) may end up being, they don't negatively affect their business.

AK.

So it's been pointed out I interpreted repeated comments as an insult where there was no intention. Unfortunately in this medium
It's hard to tell intention behind comments made, and personality doesn't always come through.

Given that's I'd like to apologize to zen.

I appreciate that... And I will try not to come off as a pedantic, arrogant, self-important know it all. But it will be hard, I am who I am, but part of being that is that I mean to cause you no harm. If I didn't care about helping you, I wouldn't even engage in the discussion with you.

Hmm --- heard they have the P3 threading. Where is that available?

I only see the zen (Z2) thread and 510 threading at ElectronicStiks and JJ Vapes.

wow, nobody answered that one? strange, I've been away. You can get the P3-threaded Kabuki at provape's web site. provape.com Accessories>Tanks & Refills

Can you run the battery to 0? Mine shuts off about 3.5v
It seems like the video where I get it to happen both times it happens below 10% once at 4% and once showing 9%. Both were the same battery. The 9% was a re read of the same battery removed and reinserted. The p3 interpreted capacity differently the second time. That's one reason I was asking if they discuss their methods for calculating IQ etc

0 on the provari isn't 0 on the battery. Looks to me
Like they chose 3.4 for the cutoff which is a safe palace to stop using and recharge without risking battery damage as I understand it.

Obviously at first I wasn't looking for any issues it just happened a few times. Then I talked to support who asked I try direct to to recreate the issue in video. I was able to and sent it in. May be an anomaly that only affects the unit I have. I haven't had any confirmation it's a wide spread thing. Maybe an error in my unit reading battery charge or who knows what. Ill update when I find out more. It's not s very big deal to be honest. Just something that popped up

Thanks. But -- this question was asked before they were available anywhere, June 15th. The P3 version was announced to be available by July 1, 2015. This was communicated within the next few posts.

Later I found out about Mt Baker Vaper being a distributor, too.

I couldn't wait and bought a 510 Kabuki. Now I have a Stealth P3 Kabuki too. :)

Welcome back.

Re the P3 --- glad you are talking to ProVi support, Mr. h00..... I believe the device can reset (lose the boost settings and perhaps others) if the battery gets to 0%.

I had 3 separate "reset" incidents with my P3 Stealth, recently. 1st time: total reset, all user-specified selections altered back to factory (slow menus, long LCD display times, no boost, 3.5 watts (LOL) okay maybe Vs... etc. 2nd time: BIG ALERT scrolling on the screen: You're running at way over safe power!!!!! Adjust voltage down NOW OH NOES!!!!!" haha, so I went, "WTF?" and checked, and yup, it was still set at 9 watts... on a 1.8 ohm coil... yeah, right.... 3rd time: Partial factory reset (not as bad as first, but hey...

So, as soon as I get a temporary replacement for my Kabuki (which has seemed to bite the dust this week) ProVape wants the Stealth back for total overhaul. They are very curious about it, being that it is very unusual. Waiting on a crappy SubTank, to tide me over for the P3 business. AND... back on ....ing analogs for the first time in two years... until I get the kabuki and P3 issues worked out.

My advice: if you get another "reset" contact provape support, those people are definitely "on it."

Okay, good. I did the same thing back then! Bought the Stealth later, haha, and a Titanium for my daughter in NY...

And, thanks, it's nice to be back.

Battery and Power = two different things. Your battery goes 100% down to.... wait for it.... ZERO. I think that's what the guy was referring to. Although, logic tells me that the battery, in one sense, goes to "zero" every time you switch batteries. So, I think the resets are a little more arbitrary than that.

I get what you're saying. Zero on the LCD doesn't necessarily mean zero battery level inside the battery. That being said, I've seen 1% readings several times, for "battery" in the scrolling IQ deal. Maybe 3.5v in the bat is zero to provari, that could be. Still, when we pull the batt out, it's a real zero in terms of available power, no matter how you slice it.

How interesting. The link I posted for h00 earlier was to a couple of posts on the P3 thread from members who were having alien reset trouble. Both of them had Stealths.

Mine goes from 95-99% down to...wait for it...EMPTY. ;)

Congrats! The Kabuki is definitely a fantastic tank at a steal of a price. Do yourself a favor and ask the man in red for a couple extra glass tanks as well. You know, for Justin Case.

I was prepared to not like the Kabuki. In fact, I had plan B already in motion. I vaped the Aspire Nautilus for 5 days and the coil started tasting wonkie...when I unboxed the Kabuki, I immediately put that coil in and filled up the tank. Same juice. Same settings on my Ti Mini. After a few puffs to get the airflow right, I took a long, slow drag...O M G. This is not even the same sport. Amazing. Not going to gush on - those who have it know - those who dont and have been on the fence - I can only hope you have the opportunity to experience this wonderful carefree device. This is exactly what I have been looking for to give my husband who has difficulties and needed a simple yet satisfying vape. The Kabuki ticks all the boxes paired with the Provari.

Thank you Zen - and everyone who posted their experiences and helped me in PMs :)

Well, Provape is sending me out a temporary tank, be here Monday. It will remain nameless. Meanwhile, as soon as it arrives I'm sending them my Stealth and the Kabuki. I bought it through them, and even though I either did something "wrong" during a routine refill, and I DO mean "routine" (LOL), it's almost always user error, you know, or maybe the o-ring was a goner, who knows? (I'm not asking, just so we're clear)... But since I bought it from them, they're stepping up and will get it straightened out. I'll end up buying another Kabuki for my backup P3, and maybe a third, for my daughter's Ti.... we'll see. At any rate these analogs will be history (again), by Monday.
