T for Texas!
@GeekyGeezer hehe that's almost my exact story...went all out on TC, bought SX mini, DNA40 and several Dicodes devices (wich are btw superior to SX ;)).....found the Kabuki and Gobli Mini's and am now back to wattage vaping...all my sophisticated devices are purring away at 14w now LOL...

Very similar for me... tried dual coils in my RDAs (hated it, too hot), then tried the sub ohm tanks (Starre, iJust, Subtank mini, TFV4, etc.). Some really good flavor (especially the Starre) but went thru juice like a fiend, bothered my allergies and throat, fogged up rooms, etc.

Very pleasurably settled now with Magma for RDA (single coil above ohm build), Squape RS and Goblin mini (for RTA) and now Kabuki (for a clearo, as well as my Nauti). Builds are usually somewhere 1.0 - 1.4 depending on device and 1.6-1.8 on the clearo side. Set airflow somewhere between tight and medium depending on how moderate I want to be with the vapor.

Very nice! Is that trick symmetrical photography? LOL

So you know where I'm coming from when I say it would suck to spend all that cash on tanks that will become obsolete for no other reason than the coils drying up and disappearing...

I've just started saying it but it bears repeating, I'm going to pull a Enaud and buy a .... load of coils every paycheck as I'm starting to get skittish. Volume and frequency will increase, I'm sure, as the situation warrants.

I was somewhat surprised when I ran the idea past Jackie to spend $3,000 for a lifetime supply of coils and she replied that it would be kind of nice to never have to worry about buying another coil again. Buy in bulk, save 10% and you've whittled it down to $2,700 if you can afford to do it all at once.

Save all your used coils and if the situation gets dire enough, I've seen videos (Rip Tripper for one) whereas people are rebuilding BVC coils. If I'm going to do that, I might as well be a happier miserable with a K4.

Then there's the scenario where with the advancement of vaping technology, I will have wished I would have just taken it easy in the first place. Case in point, I have @ 1/2 dozen Nautilus tanks I no longer use with the release of the Kabuki. Then again, those only cost 1/3 of the Kabuki which, ironically, is why they aren't being used anymore (quality, or lack thereof).

I'm going to bed, I'm losing it...

My answer to these concerns was the following:

  • RTA coil building
I learned how to build a decent single coil cotton build on an RTA like the Kayfun, etc. I watched vids and learned about coil building and can build a micro coil build now in well under 5 minutes.

The Squape RS, for me, is my go-to RTA. A fantastic device that is SO easy to build on, reliable and produces a vape that I can dial into a wide configuration of settings (different decks for different builds, airflow that can go from super tight to full lung hit, etc.). I have other rebuildables but I have 1/2 dozen Squape RS and various decks and parts "just in case"

  • Mech mod
Bought some mech mods that are very simple to run and learned the basics of safety using them. Prefer a regulated device but "just in case" these mechs are simple and will last a lifetime. Just need batteries :)

  • DIY ejuice
I can produce my own juice, which is decent but not my fav for sure. I still have a TON to learn here. This is the biggest challenge IMO because making really good juice is an art and a science that takes a lot of investment in time and cash. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but a much higher bar to reach than building coils and learning mech safety.

This is what I've done for myself and just sharing my approach.

It's wierd for me when I see people worry about juice costs.

I make my juice 3 months worth at a time. I just made a jar this morning of my subohm juice, 3 months worth, and it cost me 15 bucks and took less then 5 minutes.

Tootle juice uses twice the flavoring and 2or 3 times the nic but is still maybe 20 bucks.

Yeah, I agree. I just batched 2+ months worth of one of my Menthols and it was about 6 bucks.

No doubt about it. Making your own juice is SO inexpensive. Easily can make 30 ml for < $1.

I'm just still working on perfecting flavor. Have a couple that are really good and vapable for sure but just need to learn a few more tricks but have only put in about 10-20 hours so far to research and create.

When I say takes a lot of cash I mean I might buy a flavoring I hate and its a waste. A lot of flavors have a very chemical taste to me and then I can't use. I'm still in process of learning which flavor companies I like.

I am a bit of OCD when it comes to placement of things, photo shoots are the same as well.:(

As far as this Kabuki setup, IMO is the best combo so far, so I didn't hesitate to stock them up. as for the coils, I do have a ton to last me a long time, I just don't want to stock them too much to the point where this setup ever have to retire, then I will be really mad, lol.

If rebuilding it like Rip Tripper did can make it taste even better, I will eventually roll up my sleeve and do it, only time will tell how we will advance to the next generation of vaping.:thumb:

Military? Dress Right Dress?

Yeah, the whole thing's a crapshoot, that's for sure. You should see the boxes of unused cartos, predrilled tank cartos and tanks I have put away...

One good thing, if there's ever a ban, we're pretty much set. I was telling Jackie last night, now that we have a extra freezer, we really should calculate how much unflavored nic juice we should get. I had it figured at one time.

Have I said lately that I LOVE MY KABUKIS ?

I have 2500ml of 100mg nic stashed in the freezer.
I make my base at 5mg

So, even if I could manage to vape up 10mls a day...I think my stash will last a little while :)

Need more coils !!

I found some of my notes and I have listed 15 liters of 100mg nic for the rest of our lives (40 years) and I don't know why or the PG/VG ratio. I'm sure I'll figure it out. I have to...

A little over thirteen years by my math, not accounting for residual losses.
