No one here liked them, so I offered to buy any anyone wanted to get rid of. No takers though. Sadly enough.
Knife

... I am not wanting to buy or sell anything. I only offered some time back as people were very frustrated with them. ...

This would not be possible on buying and selling, as that is for exactly that. Not an effort to help friends out.
... But thank you for once again, completely misunderstanding intentions, and forever ready to criticize otherwise good intentions. You manage to endlessly elevate my perception of Humanity.

"Members wanting to sell, trade and/or buy e-cigs and e-cig related items from other members may only post these items in the Classified section."

Forum Rules

BTW, it has become a common courtesy to remind posters of this rule.

My experience has been that the classifieds are often used to help friends out.....in buying, selling and trading. The classified rules also dictate that there is to be limited, if any, profit....they are a service, not a business.

The rules apply to everyone and are not self exclusive or negotiable.
The reminders are correct and appreciated (by most)- the other option would be forum actions.
I have let the posts stay as they can be helpful for someone that doesn't know...but let's move on now...
I love my Kabuki.

Does everyone here NOT see that Knife was mentioning a past event, in which he offered to buy the VVTF Kabuki rebuild decks from anyone who felt cheated by how unusable it is?

He's mentioned time and time again that he has had great success with it, so he extended a friendly courtesy.

"I love this thing! You don't like it? I'll pay you the price you paid, so you can have your money back, and I can have more of the thing I like!"

But nobody took him up on that offer!

He wasn't trying to make a profit, nor was he "trying to do business outside of the Classifieds".
It was meant as a private party offer between friends on the forum...and last time I checked, the ECF does not control members from buying and selling privately, if it's a consenting friendly situation. Maybe I'm wrong on that specific detail. Sue me.

As far as this thread goes, he simply referred to that past event...and was not extending the offer again, or insinuating that anyone should take him up on said offer at this time.

I don't know why he was made an example of, but it's pretty disappointing to come back to this thread after a long day at work, and see this nonsense happening, just a few days after the load of BS that occurred on another thread.

And to see the same people involved again?
You wonder why nothing changes here?

Tea, I love ya, and I agree that your points about selling/trading were correct...but Knife did NOT need a "Classies sale/trade rules reminder", simply for mentioning something from the past.

From where I'm sitting, it was just a time/place issue. Sometimes members need to be reminded about the buy/sell/trade rules here. This was not one of them.

Text based forums = Lost in translation about 85% of the time, guaranteed.

Did he handle it well? That's open for interpretation, and I can easily see how most chose to interpret his response.

-----------

But seriously.

Why? Why, with this wide-ranging group, is it always the same dog and pony show?

I DEFINITELY remember a time when we all got along. And I mean well and truly got along.
Hell, I've got friendly PMs between Coldgin and I from 2~ months ago.

Astro and I used to egg each other on as the "rude/raunchy" pair in the "gang", and bring everyone else to tears of laughter...and now it's all gone to crap.

I just don't understand any of it.
I don't get how the parts we've all played have led to all this.
I'm sure some, or all, of us could list specific times and events...but I'm talking about the overall destination we've arrived at...not the pit-stops along the journey.

I don't care how anyone of you feel about what I've said here, but I'm over it.

I'm throwing the hatchet on the ground, and digging a hole so it can be buried.

Astro? UN-IGNORED.

Willy? UN-IGNORED.

Coldgin? I actually didn't ignore you...so, you're getting a "LIKE" on every post I come across from here on out.

The rest of you? We were ALL equal friends...and it seriously sucks to see the dividing lines between us.

Go ahead. Laugh. Scoff. Choke. Claim victory in our "fights". Blame it all on me (which some of you probably already have).
Do whatever.

I'm sick and tired of all the alienation here, the part I've played, and the parts I've watched the rest of you play, in this big twisted puzzle that has turned out like this.

We're all adults right? At least we are supposed to be. I know I haven't acted like an adult here on many occasions, and I've watched many of you do the same thing.

Nobody here is perfect except maybe Bronze...(haha just kidding, in a nice way)

I really don't care if anyone goes for anything I'm saying here, but I'm making a decision to treat this place like the "good old days" when there wasn't all this separation, derision, and division.

I'm not asking us to sit around a campfire and sing fricken Kumbaya...not that there's anything wrong with that, if that's what you're into.

I'm just burying the past in my book, and challenging the rest of you to do the same.

I don't take any of this off the forum with me, just like I don't bring my work home with me, so in the end, it doesn't affect my personal life.

I don't even care if this heals any wounds, or bridges any rifts...cuz those things are a two way street. Here's MY part.

It's time for something to give.

There I said it.

Rant over.

Begin sarcastic remarks, verbal stabs, cheap shots, laughter,'s, :pop:'s, snickering, eye-rolls, IGNORES, TL:DR's...whatever floats your boat.

It's all about style, HB. Tea was clearly just trying to be helpful, and to get the response she did was both typical, unfortunately, and obviously hilarious (ok, so that part was just for two of us).

Yes, it's sad that it's all come down to sniping but it obviously has. That stuff happens when people are treated in a condescending or patronizing manner.

That's now the 2nd instance I've seen where he totally misread someone,. then got up on a very high horse and went off on an inappropriate and irrelevant tangent. Both times he missed the mark so bad that the mark couldn't even be located.

Instead of getting defensive at every turn, maybe asking for clarification would work out better for him.

Worth consideration because I can assure you that nobody is out to get him. Posts like his tonight, directed at Tearose, are literally begging to be laughed at.

First it was Kat (which we STILL haven't figured out WHY), now Tea. Two people who aren't exactly known as trouble makers. Quite the opposite actually.

Interesting and entertaining, it is. I've given up trying to figure out why he considers himself to be attacked by and superior to everyone here, but he's chosen his course, not me.

So yeah, I'll laugh again if the situation warrants it. Nobody is obligated to pay attention to it, In fact, I'm fairly certain that my avatar contains counsel to that effect.

Sooooo...tinkerer I've been sarvo..oops sorry for the aussie slang, "sarvo" translates to "This afternoon" lol
Drank 3 beers before I started to help settle my shaky hands...didn't help with the end result

Your wish is my command Kat :)

getting my stuff organised to make a start

using a bolt to roll an evenly spaced coil with an inside diameter of 2.5mm (stock coil is 2mm ID) I've only got 28 gauge kanthal which is a bit thicker than the stock coil so number of winds and resistance will need to be adjusted as I go..

original coil compared to the new one

the thin piece of cotton that wraps the smaller part of the coil body to control the juice flow through the wicking holes.
This was almost impossible to reinstall so I decided to leave it out in the end, the reason being my wicking problems seem to come from the combination of tiny wicking holes and this relatively dense layer of fabric not allowing the juice through fast enough to keep up with the coil/cotton

my strip of cotton cut wider than needed to compensate for the exclusion of the wicking hole fabric

wires bent, coil wrapped, ready for installation into the main body

the coil and wicking wrapped around the threads of the bolt allowed easy peasy installation into the main body of the coil housing

coil legs positioned and grommet etc installed. including original wire mesh anti spit screen.

End result was a coil that my Provari read as 1.8ohm, and for the first cuppa hits everything worked perfectly. Fantastic flavour. No problems......but then the gurgling started and the coil got drowned to the point where it was un-vapeable.

So that small tube of fabric/cotton that controls the juice flow through the wicking holes is obviously much more important than I gave it credit.

Lesson learnt. Next build attempt will be different and Will include this omitted part.
I should have known better, but I went with my gut feeling which turned out to be wrong, and I'm not ashamed to admit my mistake.
I can't learn anything without trying lol

Thanks All for your interest :)

ROFLMAO umm no you reeeeally don't want to see a video of the above process. I was in hysterics a few times thinking about how ridiculous I would have looked fiddle farting around with all those tiny little components.
If you were a "fly on the wall" watching my old man ineptitude you would have been in stitches

Very nice work - I have sent you a private message to your inbox :)

HB, thank you for your post. It was very kind, and considered.

I doubt that everyone reads every post with the same understanding. But speaking specifically, any post mentioning buying or selling something, even PIF'ing something, outside of the Classifieds section of the Forum is against our rules. It's been mentioned so many, many times that it would be almost a head tilter to think that not every member knows that rule. Or all the rules, for that matter. It is not a question of whether or not it's a friendly courtesy, or a private party offer between friends. It's part of the guidelines we all agree to as members of this Forum. It's simply not allowed, and tearose simply brought it to everyone's attention, without regard as to whether or not it was "needed". It was a straightforward, informative, and helpful reminder - for everyone.

Many people have been "made the example". Often. In almost every thread. It's more common courtesy to remind other members that we can't/don't do that here. I don't believe anyone was singled out in this case. It's been prevalent across ECF for a long, long time.

What do you mean "the same people involved again"? When you speak in generalizations it confuses me.

You asked if he (Knife) handled it well. His reply certainly could be interpreted in varied ways. Possibly funny (to some) and possibly sarcastic and hurtful (to others). I can only hope it was meant as a humorous remark.

Moving on...... coldgin and Yonjuro, do you both clean your Provis on a dedicated schedule? We were doing that for awhile, but since all the red hawt sales, and now using so many in the arsenal, I've found that I clean sporadically and only when I sense it's needed.

I changed the coil on my Kabuki and used a Q-tip on the mouthpiece, does that count for cleaning?

As for all the rest, not knowing all the *history*, it did seem like a rather simple honest post to me that was smacked a bit harshly? But, I'm the first to say I am not here every day either. Yes, we do have rules, but the post was clearly speaking to a past event (shrug??)...

Nah, definitely not regularly - only when I get an error message :p

Sounds like a great idea.

I love my Kabuki's too.

We need to keep this thread alive and civil so I find out about the next great coil sale. :smokie:

Well, given the fact I'm OCD about the cleaning and maintenance of my ProVari's, I typically use one ProVari for a given calendar month. Every Wednesday, I clean both inside and outside contact pins and the top of the spring. I also put a little dab of No-Ox on the threads (not top cap threads where atomizer screws on). The first Wednesday of the month I completely clean the threads and apply fresh No-Ox. I change the spring every 6 months. I have been using a ProVari in one form or another since 2012 and have never had a failure when away from home.

I used to clean mine weekly, but I was using a particular carto that wreaked havoc on the innards of a mod. Now it's more like twice per year, and sometimes they don't even need it. It's NEVER a bad thing to clean stuff, if time allows, but a great thing about the Provis is that they'll run regardless (at least in my experience).

No failures here either.

Now that we are back to our regularly scheduled programming, can someone tell me about the rebuildable deck for the Kabuki?

In the bit that I have read here, it does not seem loved? What was/is the issue? Where are they purchased, if still available?

Thank you!
