My last 3 small priority mail boxes have been opened by the post office...a strip about 2" wide at end of box has been torn back.

The first one i didn't think anything about it but when the next two arrived with exact same tear i realized that the post office must be opening them.

The ones they opened had some word in return address about smoke or vape and they only had hardware in them.

I ordered juice from a vendor that had some name other than their company name and that did not get opened, the only one's getting opened like i said are the ones with vape or smoke in return address.

Maybe it's only me since i have been ordering alot stuff lately...but i was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this.

Haven't had that happen yet. Actually though I don't think I have yet used any vendors that have either of those words in the name.

Now you have me wondering though because I have a device coming from one vendor who does and it got returned to him the first time he sent it without ever showing up here and hasn't shown up yet since he mailed it out the second time.

hmmm...

Isn't it a felony federal offense to open someone's mail without a warrant? That is what is printed on mail I get from the government anyway, and something about it being prosecutable up to $500,000 and jail time.

It isn't a crime when 'they' do it... just us... ;)

Yup it's happen to me but I'm pretty sure that USPS is aloud to open what ever the heck they want it's a government service and if they think theres something suspicious in a package there gonna open it, on the second hand though I I also think a bunch of the mailmen are curious and open stuff up they shouldnt be, nothing against mailman and I'm not saying all or most just some, I have had quite a few packages that have came that have either been torn or opened then put back together and I would think if the post office did this they might put a note on that package saying so, well maybe maybe not??

If anyone dared open my mail I would be at the post office immediately with a lawyer in tow - And prepared to sue the pants off anyone who did it.

If anyone is actually opening your mail then you need to put the fear of god into them. Could you perhaps just be a bit paranoid? (I don't mean that to be an insult) but if you've never done anything then why:

A.) Are you worried

and

B.) Why are you not all over them?

Postal inspectors has the right to open mail that they find suspicious that does not contain private correspondence that is part of their job there is no grounds for a lawsuit.

I order alot of stuff on the internet and the only ones that have been opened are the ones i stated in original post

But nothing has ever been missing from packages so i don't care if they open and inspect as long as complete order arrives.

If it has a liquid in it and passes under a scanning device they open it.

It doesnt matter if it's perfume. That's the state we now live in.

I was flying in from a company function and had a round glass globe award in my luggage. It was opened on both ends and I had to claim it away (sign for it) from the main luggage pick up.

As a shipper of liquids (oils mostly, some fragrance oils, etc, for soap and toiletry making) I learned a very good lesson from a very good post mistress: If the package has liquid in it, write on the outside of the box : "Liquid - NON-Flammable"... Since I started that, none of my packages has been opened, even ones that went through the wrong end of the USPS and the bottles leaked or broke. They just re-box, even wrap in plastic bags and return to me :)

YMMV
