I picked up an Erl a couple of weeks ago and have been having an issue with dry hits on it. I figured it was because if my inexperience building and wicking.

I cleaned everything up the other night after a fiasco with my kayfun and after rebuilding I put it on my mod and was still getting dry hits. I made sure to trim the wick and I'm sure that it's the correct size. It slid easily in and out of my coil. The wick btw is organic cotton.

Anyway, I'm setting up another atty, so I put the Erl on my King clone and lo and behold, no dry hits. ...?! The mod I'm getting the dry hits on is a V3tronix Flip.

My question is has anyone else had this experience with the Erl? It's working beautifully on the King, but dry hits every now and again on the Flip.

Any ideas?

Have you seen Qorax's pictoral's on wicking over in the ErlK thread? He's got some more recent ones later in the thread, so I'm not just referring to the first post.

I built my first coil on the erlK so I had as big of a learning curve as any. Once you get it figured and dialed in you can chain vape sub ohm with no dry hit's. Sure I've had em, but it was my wicking and not the elf queen's fault. I've got it down now where I have no dry hits.

couple other thoughts. unless one of those mech's is in poor working order / malfunctioning causing abnormal voltage differences, or your batteries have vastly different charges that factor is likely just coincidence. It's a mech, it's putting out what the battery has to give, minus a negligible voltage drop that won't differ enough to make a difference if they are functioning properly. You sure all the contacts are clean and such?

Check out pbusardo's new wicking video. The organic cotton didn't do so well. Japanese KGD and Rayon are all the rave these dayz. However, that being said, several folks are doing just fine with organic cotton on the erlK.

I'll have to check out the rest of Qorax's post. My contacts are clean and the batteries are all in good working order. The coil I'm running now is 1.6 and hitting clean on the King mod. I chain vaped all the way to work this morning with only one dry hit. I'm thinking it my still be my wicking or maybe the cotton.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks for all the help everyone. I went through the pics and videos and rewicked the Erlk. I put in what I thought was a good thin wick then cut it down even more. Now it vapes perfectly. I've gone through two tanks and haven't had a dry hit anywhere.

With the amount of cotton I was using I thought I'd have some serious gurgling for sure, but that hasn't been the case. The flavor is amazing on this as well. Not a cloud maker, but it's fast becoming my favorite atty for flavor.

Oh man. I'm sorry wrath but I forgot all about this thread and never did attempt to put the Erl on the V3 Flip.

Anyway, I see that you've got it figured out. And yeah, the Erl was tough for me to get the wick right as well. It just looks like so much wick in the images on here. Once I got it figured out though, Whoa Nelly! Awesome flavor and pretty decent clouds for me as well. It's my go to when not at home.

Hi all! I just received my Erl, two days ago, and got my first build on last night. After paying close attention to Qorax's thread and pictures here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...zer-systems/573083-erlkoenigin-pictorial.html I believe I have this thing wicked properly. No dry hits at all, and an incredible amount of flavor. That is with a .8 twisted 28G, 7 wrap, with organic cotton wick (have a box of KohGenDo, but have gone back to my OC due to too many dry hits, which I never get with OC, and believe me I tried a ton of different wicks with the same results).

But, I am experiencing two weird issues. The first issue is, this thing is LOUD, I mean very loud. It sounds like a plane taking off. I have numerous tanks and dripper attys (too many according to my wife, yes I have a problem it would seem :)), and none of them are as loud as this thing. I am running it with the AFV completely removed, like my airflow, but I tried it with it in to the point that it could hardly breathe, and it was still loud, albeit slightly muted. The sound comes from the bottom, and is the suction sound made by the air being pulled into the device. I have tried it on several devices, regulated and mech, with the same results.

The next issue is the small amount of vapor I seem to be getting. Using the exact same juice, I literally get about half of the amount of vapor that I do out of my Black Russian. It would seem the Erl provides slightly more flavor, or at least highlights different parts of the flavor, which is a really good thing, but the amount of vapor just seems really lacking, especially given the strength of the flavor and the stronger throat hit I am getting from it. Funny, as my wife's x-jet and her Vision Spinner produces more vapor it would seem.

Any ideas on what I might try? I do not believe I have too much wicking material in there, due to no dry hits, and the great flavor, but am certainly willing to try anything anyone more in the know might suggest.

Hi Wrath, agreed this thing definitely puts out some flavor, especially for a tank. Before this my Black Russian held that title (most flavorful RTA). But, given your comments on vapor production, and the fact that my results fall right in line with yours, it would seem this tank just does not produce a lot of vapor.

But, is yours loud, like exceptionally loud? The air flow into the bottom of mine seems to be the loudest of any of my devices, and that includes some RDAs with like 16 and 18 air holes.

Just wondering if this is normal, or if tearing this thing down and completely rebuilding from the bottom up might reduce some of the volume I am getting.
