I have an Erlkonigin clone that I am having trouble getting to wick properly

My first attempt was to follow the videos and give it a very sparse, short wick, with ends barely dangling into the top of the channel. With my 50/50 PG/VG juice and airflow half open, it would wick fairly poorly, and I had to take occasional sharp dry pulls to keep it going. However, if I set it down for an hour or more, in a vertical position, it would proceed to dump the entire tank out of the airfeed and onto the table.

Second attempt was to have a wick all the way down through the channels, barely sticking out from under the washer. That fixed the juice-dumping, but also prevented any wicking whatsoever.

Any ideas? Would it work better with thinner juice? Should I try it without the washer? The washer seems to catch air bubbles and does not let them come up to the top, at least with my thickness of the liquid.

I had a hell of a time too. I got it to wick OK, but it's honestly nothing special. I have 10 different RTA/RDAs that are better, so I just shelved it.

I have quite a few that I have issues with, Kayfuns, Fogger V2, Aqua. The only one I have that can remotely compete with the Reomizers is Taifun. But it's huge and heavy, which is why I was putting a lot of hopes in Erlkonigin. Good capacity, easy refills, small... If only it would work :)

The idea is to cut the wick so that it exactly fits the inside of the chimney.

1. Pull your wick through.
2. Seperate a tail off the bottom of each end. Just enough to fit in the side of each wick channel. Cut each tail to about the halfway point and stick them in those channels.
3. Cut the 2 big parts even with the sides of the base. No longer or shorter.
4. Now cut an angle off the top of each of those shoulders that maches the angle of the chimney bell.
5. Prime the wick. Use the juice to stick the tails into the side channels. Light up your wick and assemble.

Fill quickly. Try to fill it in 4-5 seconds.

Aw see...I got the ErlPrinz, not the clone and I LOVE the flavor. Once I nailed it, I fell in love. I have another on the way...the ErlPrinz is the cheaper version of the ErlKonigin.

I have an original ErlPrinz AND the "silver box" clone. Hands down the ErlPrinz performs better. The clone basically leaks every time I fill it no matter what and seeps no matter how I wick it. The Prinz...never. For a little more $$ than a clone you can get the Prinz so I will never buy another Erl clone. They even sell them now at Vapor Shark...$44 and free shipping.

I have the Erlkonigin Nano clone, and it took me two tries to get mine wicking well without leaking. I started out wicking it just like any other RBA, as in the same amount of cotton. Then on each side of the coil, I split the wick in half, and snipped off one half on each side. Then I moistened the wick with juice, and ran the wick into the channels to see how long each tail was. Then I lifted each tail, and snipped them off so they went about 1/3rd the way down the channels. Then I put the tails back in place, and screwed the chimney on. No leaks, no dry hits.

Nice description. That's basically how I wick it, but I leave the tails a bit longer.
