Anyone else having trouble putting down the real cigs?

I've been vaping for almost 2 months now, still find I need an analog first thing in the am with coffee ... after that it's MAYBE a couple more spread out over the day. I have an ashtray on my desk that I keep track of the butts in, then log my analog smoking the next morn on a special notepad. Dump the ashtray and start fresh for the day. I'm kinda bouncing around between 2 per day and as high as 9 a day ... but I was smoking 1.5 to 2+ packs a day for the past 25+ years. By keeping this silly little "record" I can look back and see if I can figure out what caused me to grab the analogs ... Hmmm, 6 one day, 9 for the following 2 days, then back down to 7 on the fourth day ... funny, that's the timeframe when I was obsessing over my tax returns and running out to my dad's (he's 91 and suddenly experiencing major health issues ... first time in his life). So the extra need for all that tar and chemicals was definitely stress related. The "real thing" was acting like a security blanket.

The one thing I'm focusing on with vaping is to NOT vape juice that taste's like analogs ... I want to break that mental link ... I want to vape and enjoy "flavors" ... I have also been trying to take a moment or two after I light up an analog to really "taste" exactly how crappy it is compared to my vaping flavors. I'm also ordering juices at 1 or 2 times regular flavor strength.

You are doing great, don't beat yourself up about it. I agree with the others who commented ... up your nicotine strength. 12mg and 18mg didn't cut it for me, I have now been vaping either 24mg or 30mg. Really helps.

Hey Justine, you may be having trouble kicking those few analogs into touch cos you been smokin a long time maybe. You've always had them. There are times when we reach for a ... cos we think it helps. The thought of cutting off that help, that freind is waht stops us quitting sometimes.
You'll realise soon enough that cigarettes are not your freind. They do not get you through tricky/sad times. And you'll give them up completely. . . . . . Dont worry. Dont fret. You're very nearly there.

When you finally quit them you'll be stronger and walk taller. You don't need them. You think you do. Thats what smoking does. Thats how it works.

I wont wish you good luck. You'll do it. Nothing to do with luck. But i wish you every success. :)

Another vote for upping your nic level to 24mg or higher, at least in the short term. Don't worry about the nic level when what's really bothering you is that you can't stop the tobacco - focus on that first, even if it means having to vape @ 36mg. That's what I had to do. Now I vape mostly 24mg and occasionally 18mg or 36mg. Whatever it takes to keep me away from smoking!

If you don't have a pass-thru, I'd recommend one. You may also want to find a better battery. I've been looking at the Go-Go and I'd like to try it but it's always out of stock!

was 1 pack a day smoker, got my 1st ecig 8 days ago (Joye 510) and haven't had one analog cig since I finished the 3cigs left in that pack. shocked and pleased ecigs are working so well. I find a higher level of nicotine ecig in the AM with my coffee helps a great deal, then lower nicotine level in the afternoon. I am dripping for I hated the taste through the carts even with the blue filler stuff.

I just bought a PV kit and was going to have an analog pack around for cravings. I went for the 24mg so I think I decided right by going high MG. I will be on the same boat as the OP but I think we will all get to 0 analogs soon. I dream about using my PV even before I have received it so I have high hopes. In the dream it was working. Maybe thats a good sign:)

Started with 24mg nic then went to 30 and 36.
Still using all 3 levels.
Think that is what you need-- higher nic .
And yes--still get the urge to have a Marl.
But have not givin in once since i started.
Smoked reds for almost 48 years--so i still need the higher nic at this point.
I know if I have just 1--will be back to the stinkies--can't go back there!!!!
Keep at it--you can do it :)

Hey guys! I started vaping a month and 3 days ago, but I still can't quite let go of the real thing. I was a 2 pack + a day smoker and granted, I'm now smoking on average 7 or 8 cigarettes a day, but it bothers me that I can't just toss them in the trash. I love love love vaping, so why do I feel the need to keep a pack of cigarettes nearby as well?

Please tell me I'm not the only one.

Justine
You should focus on the fact you've cut back your smoking that much... that's qite an accmplishment. I haven't had too much trouble. There have been a few times I wasn't gettting much out of vaping nd thought about cigs being easier but I haven't gone there. I also smoked less than you and I smoked lights.

Perhaps try making note of what you are doing or what time it is when you smoke the regular cigs and try to give one up a week or something along those lines. Use a higher nicotine and vape like crazy when you'd normally have that cigarette.

Most of all remember that at worst you're much better off than you were one month and 3 days ago :).

I seem to have a problem when I get upset. Had 1/2 pack yesterday the other today. I also seem to can't stop at just one. 1.5 -2 pad myself so I always chained smoked them. So it seems for me, if I only want one or two I smoke half a pack. UGH I truly can't wait until I'm done for sure!

Keep up the good work tho, because even tho I had 1/2 pack yesterday and then again today I was still 1 - 1.5 pack that I didn't smoke!

I do the same thing, Cheryl Ann. I dump the ashtray every morning so I can keep track. And, since starting e-cigs, I haven't smoked in my car even once.

It took me about 2 months to feel satisfied with "just" vaping. I would be fine vaping all day until about 2 pm in the afternoon, then the cigarette cravings would start. I would then "reward" myself with a few cigarettes. They were satisfying, but as time went on, I realized how bad they tasted. I began stubbing them out after a few puffs, the smell became so offensive. I upped my nicotine level to 24 mg/ml and followed the advice from some forum members here to "chain-vape" until the urge passed. This helped me ALOT. Now 6+ weeks cigarette-free. Was even able to cope with the stress of my father's hospitalization from a stroke a few weeks ago with just a little 3.7 box mod! Just keep at it, and don't be too hard on yourself!

I have the same problem. Bought V4L and used it for about a month and kinda forgot about it. I tried different mgs. 18mg wasn't enough, 24mg seem to kill my throat to the point I didn't want to hit it anymore. Nor did it put out the vapor I was looking for

If high nic juice is killing your throat, try it in a higher or 100% VG blend. You may lose a little flavor but it is much easier on your throat.
