There is a lot of info for noobs to take in when making the switch to vaping. What to get? What to avoid? What works with what? What do drip tips do, and do I need one? Do they even work with what I have? How about drip covers? I was told to watch ohm on the carts I buy? Maybe Im reading to much into it all. It would help if I had a local shop to actually talk to someone and see the stuff. I would be completely lost without this place!

Welcome to ECF....!!! I used to live in the FM area for several years. After you decide and a PV of some kind much of the questions you have you will be able to answer yourself through experimentation. This place is a fountain of information. Take what you need from here and leave the rest for another day.

Should you ever make it down to the Cities, we have a couple of local shops one in Anoka that I frequent a couple of times a week. The owner is VERY helpful and lets you try out PV's and juice flavors.

Again Welcome..!!

Start out with a simple, reasonably priced kit. I would look for an ego (or ego-like kit) to begin. Everything will be ready to go out of the box. Then, once you have it and know what you like and don't is when you start reading. If you want ease of use, more vapor, or better flavors, you can read about cartomizers and juices. Once you have one in your hand it is a lot easier to figure everything out. Or, just post; people will always help you out.

I wouldn't say I felt intimidated per se, but there is definitely a learning-curve involved. New terminology, acronyms, devices (and the seemingly endless choices available among them), juices (and the many sources for them), and DIY (Do-it-yourself) all contribute toward my sometimes feeling as if I'm working toward a degree in another field. :vapor:

I agree with hmlessalky start simple. I started with a 510 kit but found that it just wasn't enough for me where I was a heavy smoker so a friend gave me an ego that was a big improvement. If you was to start out with a ego kit everything that is needed is there so there is no guess work. This forum is great so any questions that you have people will help you with. :)

Welcome, good luck and keep reading...
I have tried the gas station cig (didn't like it) --> Bought a kgo (loved it) --> bought another kgo for my girlfriend, still waiting for her to join in. --> then bought a lava tube.. I have used cartos, tanks and cartos and I have done a little bit of dripping. I must admit dripping has given me the most intense flavor and th.. I have decided I am way way to lazy to constantly drip into the tip.. So I have settled on tanks with cartos I slot myself. While not as intense as dripping it completely satisfies my taste buds and need for the th..

It all depends on what you are looking for, but after some experimenting around I'm sure you will find the perfect device for you..

All over the place
I have completely gone through this, and to a degree continue. I believe you will be fine and it becomes less intimidating when you (as you are) begin asking the right questions.

To remedy the enormity of the intimadation factor, along with the vastness of info, I took a chance on a simple ecig kit (Smokeless image) and began researching while I vaped. About the time I was ready to move on was about the time that the analog style ecig stopped satisfying me.

p.s. Smokeless image was not my first crack at it, but it was what I vaped to keep me afloat once I decided to dive in the deep end.

p.s.II Steeljan (no longer doing videos) and Pbusardo (tasteyourjuice.com) helped me like a guidance counselor would. Trust me, the help is out there, and there are scores of people who love to help beginners!!!

i was very intimidated when i first started vaping. Ohms, cartomizers, atomizers, voltage, watts, cartridges, ,mods, holy crap. However, eventually you will find what works for you. I've settled into using a big battery APV with a Low resistance cartomizer, and dripping occasionally. Keep at it. You'll know what is what in no time. And don't be afraid to ask questions.
Vape on!!

Yeah, I was majorly intimidated. I had bought a disposable e-cig at a store and came on here to see if there were better disposables out there. Suddenly, I was in a world of flavors, PV's, cartos, syringes, condoms, atty's, PG vs. VG, and I was almost ready to run for the door. I was especially intimidated by all the talk of filling and cleaning carts. I thought, "I do not want to be bothered with all this." So I ordered pre-filled carts, a couple of empties (just in case), and one bottle of e-liquid. By the time my kit arrived, I had already realized that wasn't going to work and I had ordered some sample bottles of flavors and a bunch more empty carts. I tell myself that I will try cleaning the carts, but if it doesn't work for me, I'll throw them away and buy more. There are plenty of fairly cheap ones out there. Filling is pretty easy, especially if you fill a bunch at a time so you're ready for the day.

I know I have so much more to learn, but I've figured out enough to get started and I'll take the learning process day by day. In the meantime, I'm not smoking analogs, I'm enjoying vaping, and so far I haven't made anything blow up, so it's all good. :p
