the pay is great everything else is terrible. i am starting to think that pay DOES NOT replace sanity. things that are very wrong with this place,
management thinks they need to control everyone's life. when hired i was not informed of any tobacco OR vaping policy intentions. 3 months after i was hired i was told i could no longer vape outside, i would have to go to my car OK i went to my car for the next 5-6 months. after that time period they told me that is no longer acceptable now i have to leave the property. if i leave the property i dont get paid for lunch, everyone else has paid lunches. they are literally punishing me for vaping. they had the nerve to tell me that i should seek nicotine addiction consoling . they leave me alone at a milk plant at night for 3-4 hours sometimes with no one else on the premises , if i get hurt i will lie there till morning. i could die there. there is a risk of falling, hot water and chemicals. the other night i was vaping outside with no one else on the property and i got caught, i do not know what they are going to do about it...... i really could care less. the "quality" woman came back after hours, she was so proud of herself, catching me in the act. they do not provide an "acceptable" place to vape for any breaks beyond lunch, so they expect me to go 5-7 hours without vaping, and it aint happening. i have ZERO desire to continue to work for such controlling ...... anyways. the general manager actually had the nerve to tell me he did not like my diet and he did not approve of my lipton iced tea.

there are other issues as well. the "quality" manager thinks she can swab my hands and has done so on two occasions. i do not wish to consent to a "hand swab". the management is rude, repulsive, and verbally threatens people regularly. they make you work late and then send you home early later in the week with no overtime. i have to deal with that "quality" woman walking around with a camera taking pictures of anything she does not like, instead of simply saying something about it, this creates a hostile workplace. they force the other two guys to wear beard nets over their mustache, even though that's not standard procedure at any other milk plant. all 3 of us "workers" have extensive dairy experience and came from other plants, typically a beard net is for a beard.

i have been on vacation and the resumes and applications have been flying out. i dont care if i take a $5 hourly paycut, NO amount of money is worth putting up with such evil, rotten, vindictive people. i thought my old job was bad, lol.... they left me alone for the most part, we have designated places to smoke or vape.... the problem i had with that place was not so much them minding my buisness, but constantly loosing my days off, constant schedule changes. i took this job because i was told a bunch of in-accurate information, actually lies. my boss works less then 30 hours per week, yet he is on salary.

im even thinking about just walking, but i must find something else first. if anyone thinks their job or employer is that bad they need to read this.

ad356, there's an old rule which is still valid today: "It's easier to get a job when you have a job."

You sound totally disgruntled over your current employer, and not just because of vaping issues. Eventually, that disgruntlement will reflect in your job performance.

Were I you, I'd update my resumé right now and get it circulating.

i couldn't agree more, i already have my resume out to several employers and a couple of temp agencies. im not a huge fan of temp agencies but they can get you a job. i have ZERO intention of staying there anymore, i have made up my mind...... in fact the other two guys in the same position i am in are doing the same thing. i suspect within a couple of months none of us will be left and these terrible management people will have to get off their behinds and actually do real work. corporate will likely come in and investigate why there is such a high turnover. its a small plant and so far they have had at least 5 people leave. if 3 more leave, that's 8 people or almost a 100% turnover. the plant employs 9 people, including management

as far as my job performance, i still do my job but i know it suffers..... you end up spending more time worrying about how you arent happy and how badly you are often getting treated you tend to pay less attention to your job. really management people in these rolls should really think about how they treat people and how it negatively effects productivity. however i think they only care about themselves. they will eventually figure it out.

i will take the first job that hires me at a reasonable rate of pay, and maybe look for something else when i am in a better situation..... if the pay is not enough. either way i want out of where i am at within the next few weeks.

i also will not be the last guy actually doing work still working there. they would have no issue sitting on their behinds watching one guy do all of the work. i will NOT be that guy. the one morning i came into work, one of my co-workers was actually in the locker room changing to leave and walk off the job; the boss somehow actually convinced him to stay, maybe it was the other guy saying that if the guy in the locker room left he was right behind him.

seems like they dont care if 1 guy walks but if 2 or all 3 guys walk they seem to care

Find a job you love and train for it if necessary. These days you can go to a tech school night or day and still work and do both. Government grants will pay for it. Bite the bullet and prepare for a job that you love. You will be glad you did.

Some courses are online with lab time on-site a few hours a week. Check out what's available at the local tech school or college. You don't have to put up with overbearing management forever.

im almost willing to just walk away from this, but i know that i indeed need somewhere else to go first. also my schedule has changed several times. when i was hired, i was told 4- 10 hour shifts which would have been great. when i started working i was told it was 7-3, they then progressively moved my start time back to 8am, then 9am, finally 10am. they did this because frequently they kept my past my scheduled time and consequently were paying me overtime. they keep me past my scheduled hours, yet all i ever heard from them was complaining and "no overtime". i did not stay late because i felt like it, rather because the work was not done. when i was hired i was told i would have a work/life balance, all lies.

10am-6:30PM stinks. in other words i leave too early to do anything in the morning and come home too late to do anything after work. i also have a 1 hour commute, i have to leave the house by 9am and i dont get home until almost 8pm (if i leave on time, often times i do not). work life balance LOL. these are the worst hours you can work no time in the morning or evening, work consumes the entire day

This sounds terrible. I would've quit already even without another job lined up. I don't like my job but at least I can vape pretty much wherever I want. I work in a plumbing supply warehouse and my manager is cool about it. Good luck with the job search.

count yourself lucky, nothing is worse then working for a nanny that tells you what you should and should not be doing with your breaks or even your life. its really not a good experience, i am going to leave this job and i do not plan on working for another control freak. if what i am doing does not effect my job performance and is not illegal MYOB.... in fact not getting nicotine does wonders for job performance, actually the opposite is true. no nicotine= i unhappy employee. they wish me to quit nicotone, once again MYOB
