I haven't bought Nicotine Base in awhile. Having a couple of Liters in a Freezer.

But the Last Liter I bought I got from Wholesale Nicotine, Bulk e-Liquid, PG, VG and Supplies Heartlandvapes Wholesale

I was attracted to them because their Prices on Flavorings are Much Lower that Anyplace I have seen.
I am going to keep this site in mind for when they're about to make nic sales online illegal, haha. Right now I can't afford to buy more than about 250ml of pre-mixed base. Thanks for the link though, I'm awful at finding all my options online.

My DIY recipe is 59% PG, 39% VG, 1% nic (10 mg) and 1% flavoring. In my best rda (for flavor) the small amount of flavoring comes through. To make a 100 ml batch, which lasts me 2 weeks. I drip 1 ml of flavoring into a 3 ml syrings with my finger covering the bottom hole. Why vape unflavored when a tiny amount of flavor can be enough?

The easiest way to start DIY is dilute a commercial e liquid you like. 75/25 usually works fine and save a lot of money.

I've been vaping unflavored almost from the start. I started with tobacco flavor in my first ecig (the old Safe Cig that looked like an analog), then tried some other flavors once I got into the eGo with refillable cartos. I didn't particularly care for the tobacco flavor all that much, and while I liked the candyish, etc. flavors of other juices, it didn't seem like smoking to me, which was what I was after. I read about someone here trying and liking unflavored, so I gave it a shot, and I've never looked back. Unflavored to me has a slightly sweet taste with a tad bit of a "bite" from the nicotine (sort of like the slight bite or bitterness of Coca Cola, if that makes sense). I've been buying combos of PG and VG nic juice and non-nic PG and VG from RTS Vapes for several years now, but I finally settled on buying PG nic juice, with non-nic VG as the bulk of the juice. I eventually decided I liked VG better (sweetish but not too sweet sort of "caramelly" flavor and huge clouds), so I started using more and more. When I started sub ohming, I decided I needed much less nic, so my mix became like 95% VG and 5% PG. I found this to be a bit thick for good wicking on some devices, so I started adding a touch of distilled water (yes, just from a jug from the grocery store). Right now I make my juice in 100ml batches and have several plastic, needle-tipped 100ml bottles to store it in. My current mix looks like this:

PG 48mg nic: 6ml
VG non-nic: 86ml
distilled H2O: 8ml

This gives me a 3mg/ml mix and decent consistency, though I may drop down to 5% water and see how it goes. I know I could use lower nic and increase the amount of PG, or use straight VG and a somewhat higher mix of water, but I've just gotten used to doing it this way, and I don't want to mess with success. :thumb:

This is extremely helpful for me, thank you! I actually think I am after the exact same result you are. 3mg/ml, mostly VG, but thinned out. Thank you for typing up your recipe for me! I may actually steal it for my first full mix-up and give it a try. So far I've just been buying a pre-mixed 50/50 or 70/30 3mg base and vaping that (maybe dripping a flavored juice in with it once in a while). I wonder if it might even save me some money to buy a higher concentration of nic in PG and then mix it with pure VG and DW as you do... Hmm. To the lab!

EDIT: You don't need to let the juice steep in order for the nic to saturate the VG, do you? I've assumed aging is just to develop flavorings, but I'm not sure if the nic takes a while to mingle with VG.

My procedure is this: I measure out the components in a couple of glass beakers I got from ebay, a 10ml and a 100ml, pour them into a plastic soda bottle (I keep an old 12oz soda bottle for this), and shake them up thoroughly. When first mixed, the resulting liquid has sort of a translucent white appearance and is full of gajillions of tiny bubbles. I let it sit for a while until the liquid appears clear and smooth, like water (never timed it specifically, I usually just wait an hour or so before coming back to it). At this point, I give it another good shake and start using. It will bubble up slightly at this point, but it shouldn't turn white again.

edit: I don't do any additional aging or steeping after this.

I used to use Heavily Flavored/Sweetened DIY e-Liquids. But burned out on them. And got Tired of my coils Gunking Up quickly.

For the Last year or so I have used what I can HOF (Hint of Flavor).

That is where I will place a couple of Drops of regular flavored e-Liquid into a tank of Unflavored. Or, when I wick a New Coil, prime the wick with a Flavored e-Liquid and then fill the Tank with Unflavored. I'm kinda Amazed how much Flavor there is doing this.

I use Pure Unflavored sometimes. It's kinda Refreshing. Like when you are thirsty drinking a Big Glass of Ice Water verses drinking a Soda.
agree on the 'hof',, after i run a flavor thru the tank i run a tank of 'neat' (no flavor) and there always seems to be enough left over flavor to flavor the neat juice....

i am at a weird spot right now,, flavor boredom,,as i just receiving my first orders of FA flavors!.. good grief :)

as for the 'neat juice',, i taste a light/ultra light cig flavor.....so i could see that being a plus for those looking to stop smoking.

Do you (or anyone else) find that thinning your VG with distilled water helps the juice last longer, as well? The only downside to max VG is that I go through my bottles sooo much faster. I imagine that issue is simply due to the viscosity (thicker liquid means more liquid on the coil when it fires, which means increased vapor production and therefore more product loss per pull), and would be alleviated to some extent by the addition of the water... But has anyone found that to be noticeably true?

I haven't really noticed or even considered it. I obviously noticed a difference in juice consumption after making the switch from ohm + builds at low watts to sub-ohm at higher watts, but I haven't really payed attention to how any given mixture behaves since then. I've just become used to refilling my tanks...a LOT! It seems like every 15 minutes or so...:(

I have found that if you heat the batch up to around 100 degrees that it will speed up the resting stage of the DIY. I use mostly 70/30 or 80/20 VG/PG because I prefer a thicker e-Liquid.

I tried an unflavored store bought once and to me it was a waste of money. I remember thinking no flavor was like buying a bottle of water. Just my opinion but I will be recommending unflavored to a friend who is considering quitting smoking and vaping because of the comment above that it tastes like cigarettes.

I'm not sure if Adding a small amount of Water will make your High VG e-Liquids last longer?

But I do Know that adding a bit of Water can Vastly Enhance the wicking ability of many High VG e-Liquids. And can Greatly Reduce the Dry Hits that one will get for many Atomizers.

i mixed up some FA Glory yesterday,, i taste a bit of cig in that. when mixing neat juice the cig flavor strength depends on the starting value of the nic.. (imho).. but if your friend says he needs more cig flavor go to a b&m and pic up a small bottle of any strong cig flavored juice (and maybe much HIGHer nic,, take it home and dilute it......keeping track of how much he diluted so he knows his 'starting/base' nic levels.

i started at 24mg,, i am at 2mg firm and visiting 1 mg a lot. my taste buds noticed a peppery taste at every level telling me to drop down a bit.

I am currently mixing in store bought Tobacco with some Sweet Pipe Tobacco I DIY'ed. it came out good but do not really care for the flavor so Tank Mixing is working out great!!
