I came across this idea from the link below. Basically it says you can split a few vanilla beans put it in a bottle with some pg, let it steep for a few weeks and you have vanilla flavoring. The method described to make spice extracts is also interesting.
I'm seriously considering making some DIY liquid. I'm basically kind of a one or two juice guy and my "go-to" flavor is menthol. I know that making menthol flavoring using menthol crystals is super easy, that's why I'm so interested in trying some DIY, with such a simple "base" flavor, 90% of my work is done, all I need to do is experiment with some "background" flavors.
I'm liking the idea of being able to make my own extracts instead of buying pre-made ones. Just wondering if anyone else has tried something similar and if it worked out or not. Thanks.

Yes, Stacy1 and Soignee have been diligently working on that for a while, and others have done it as well, with varying degrees of success. But last I knew, so far no one has achieved an, "OMG this is sooo vanilla, I will never need artificial vanilla again."

Here is a thread, and maybe when Stacy1 or Soignee logs in, they can give us an update.
