Anyone ever wear out their magnetic switch?

Title says it all! I've been using my one and only mod, a stingray x clone, for 9 months now. I took apart the switch to clean out the copper boogers (which build up quicker as the mod gets older lol) that have accumulated. I do a 1-2minute max rinse in white vinegar and pick them out with a tooth pick. Really works a treat! Anyway, today I am finding that my mod is misfiring a lot more often! I checked the floating pin, the firing pin and my atty. There is really no reason that I can pin point. Sooo, could this be a sign that my magnets are starting to bite the dust? The button does feel a bit more squishy than usual. I searched online, but I couldn't find any experience reports on what a dying magnet actually feels like.

Magnets do eventually wear out. The bigger the magnet the longer it takes to wear down so it's definitely possible. I would go ahead and replace them just to be on the safe side, especially if your button has a lot more play in it than it did.

Never had a magnetic switch last long enough to wear out, but I've dropped my mod and caused the magnets to shatter.

I prefer springs. They don't shatter. No matter how hard I try to be careful, eventually my mod is going to hit the ground. YMMV.

I don't see how a weakening magnet would be causing electrical issues though. I didn't realize the button magnets were even a part of the electrical circuit.

They're not. It's the magnets opposing force which keeps the switch separated until you press it. If the switch requires too little force to fire the mod, the magnets aren't strong enough.

That said, I believe that both excessive heat and sending voltage through the magnets can contribute to their loss of magnetic abilities.

Magnets carry the charge in most mechanicals because they stay in contact with the metal parts that form the circuit.
Springs too.
Magnets can develop a chalky surface and like a faulty spring, they can hinder mod performance.
Keep them clean like the rest of your mod for best results.

The magnets look fine, except for one that has had a seem in it as long as I can remember lol. The button has stopped misfiring, for no apparent reason... I guess some crud got in the threading when I screwed the assembly together.
