As a man with 'long luscious locks' (as my GF puts it) I agree that that men should have hair. I know you're husband would agree with me, Andria :D

BUT

As a man with 'long luscious locks' I would also have to say that any man (or woman) should have the freedom to have their hair anyway they damn well please. Maybe they like it short (or none at all) because it's easier to manage... or so it doesn't get in their way when they're working. I know mine does. I usually keep a bandanna handy to keep my hair out of my face if I'm going to be working with my hands a lot.

You're right, everyone *should* have the freedom to choose whatever style suits them, even when that style is ....-ugly. :D I just wish more guys had a better aesthetic sense, to realize that *most* human heads are not shaped to appear at their best when completely exposed. It's also unfortunately true that male-pattern-baldness puts an end to many men's luxuriant locks, it did to my old-hippy dad's, and it's winning the war with my son's gorgeous blonde hair, which he's been losing since he was 15. I've seen exactly 2 men who actually look great with a fully-exposed dome -- Charles Barkley, and Shemar Moore (from Criminal Minds, he plays Derek Morgan).

And yep, my husband completely agrees with me that men need hair, preferably long. :D His hair is thinning at the crown, a very different problem from male pattern baldness, so I keep trying to talk him into cutting it very short, so it's very curly, and getting some minoxidil, but it's the cutting it short he just can't go along with. :D Something about growing up, coming of age, in the 70s... ;)

Oh I know it. My parents were in the music industry in the 70's and 80's-- my mom loves the long hair too. My dad's been growing his out recently too. It's cute, they've been traveling around to go see Styx in their free time as of late. :)

also, Sorry, I didn't mean to piss on your parade their about bashing on 'gangsta' culture. But what's that old saying... something about 'I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.' I think we can apply that here... and to the kids that want to shave their heads to look like inmates.

I think there are plenty other aspects of 'gangsta' culture we can critique without me (or others) objecting with their's (or my) personal principles.

... like their discouraging nature towards intelligence and education. (which are not mutually exclusive-- again one of my personal beliefs)

My experiences in vape shops are quite varied. I have come across the shop full of youngins blowing clouds and measuring their "coils" more than once. Then you have the money pits where everyone including the owner is just ignorant of ..well.. everything vape related except the cost of the "vaper thing" you want to buy. I have found a few indifferent shops where you just can't help but wonder if they actually want to sell you things or not.

Being in a large city I have a lot of shops around me. Luckily a couple of them aren't the above mentioned types. One of my frequent stop shops is ran by the owner and his family and its pretty much always a great atmosphere. In my experience the vape shops ran by owners and their family's typically are better at least in the customer service sense. Some shops are super friendly and knowledgeable and some are just there to sell products. If you don't confuse the two types and expect one from the other both types can be good stores.

I would love to see Styx. They were in town recently but Warped Tour and Motley Crue take priority.

I go to my vape shop regularly, I have two reasons i go, number one, there prices are good, and number two, they make me feel like family. As soon as i walk in the shop they always, even if they dont know me, say hello and welcome me.

Now with that said. I walk into the shop just over a year ago for the first time. Again I was told hello and welcomed. I was a little nervous, but they answered all my question, helped me make a choice and showed me how to use it. Even six months later when i went into rebuildables, they helped me to understand. Great shop and will always go back to that location.

Now with that said...lol, I have gone into different shops in different towns. Recently i walked into a store and I was the only customer inside. The owner was there stocking the shelves and took forever to say hi and ask me what i was wanting. At the end of that visit, I was telling the owner what to stock..... lol

To sum it all up. I have never felt awkward

Apparently, they can still bring it according to my parents. Who saw them back when, too.

I saw Styx in '76, the Grand Illusion tour. Just awesome. :thumb:

Another band that can STILL really bring it, is Foreigner. They were awesome in 1975, and they may be fat and gray-haired now, but they can still rock like madmen! We've seen them several times over the last decade, were just amazed at how great they STILL are!

Makes me think of the eagles 94 show where they're all sitting in chairs on stage rocking out. Shoot what was the name of that... I should know, I bought my parents the blue ray of it for Xmas. Oh well.

But yes, it is refreshing to see the old guys who can still rock. Especially when thinking about how many bands from my youth can't hack it anymore. And that wasn't all that long ago.

Prophet you should be able to sympathize with that one. I mean, how was The Used at Warped tour? Can Burt sing at all at this point?

My first dozen or so experiences in the local vape store is the exact reason I took to the internet to find information and a way to take care of things myself. I went in knowing nothing other than I wanted to stop smoking and start vaping. I asked one fo the 6 people in the shop who could help me. Then in all of about 40 seconds the woman told me everything they had in the shop which was about 200 items then in the next 5 seconds asked me what i would like. Then spent the next 3 seconds waiting on my answer. finally I figured it out sorta on my own. And wasn't very happy once i got home and had no idea what or how to do anything. But thanks to this very forum I did get it figured out. So I went back with a friend. He spent more time explaining things to me from the customer side of the counter and i was able to walk right up to someone and tell them what I wanted. However every-time I go in I do not have a good experience.
I had a battery that wouldn't charge for more than 30 minutes and a tank that leaked 2 tanks out in 20 minutes. So I went back. Before looking at my Evod. The lady proceeded to tell me everything I was doing wrong. I was getting hot under the collar when she realized it could possibly be faulty equipment and lo and behold it was a bad battery. But no replacement she said "hey they are made in china and that's to be expected. So I left and decided to find every scrap of info I could on my own and swore to never set foot in that particular store again. And I haven't. But I did spend $147 dollars last week on supplies. and near $100 the week before. My order for this week is another bill. So its their loss.

The first time I ever go into a new vape store I get something somewhat like butterflies but it's cause I'm excited to try their juice, check out there RDA's & mods and meet new people. So far the only place I haven't liked much was a place that looked like a million bucks but the employees couldn't really tell me anything and very vague on info. But it was funny, when I walked in I wasn't vaping I had my setup in my pocket was just chit chatting about juice. He asked what E-go model I had or whatever those small pen style vaporizers are and I pulled out my stillare/vanilla and they're attitudes changed then we got to talking about a guy local who did custom stuff to mods and such and they were ready to talk like my best friends. Anyway enough ranting either way when people come into our place of business I treat them like friends and I don't have to say a word if I didn't want too. But some vape shops are just that way, treat people like idiots until they figure out otherwise.

"Hell Freezes Over"... because that's what they said would have to happen before they ever reunited. :D What I really liked about that show/tour/album, was the new material they came up with -- "Get Over It," and "Learn To Be Still" are some of the best work they've ever done. I think there was a new Timothy B. Schmidt song too, can't think of the name. There was a show on cable recently, no idea what channel, called The History of the Eagles; it was rivetting! It was great to hear Joe Walsh talking about the various insanities of his alcoholism, and "getting over it" himself to make that whole reunion possible.

I actually didn't see the Used on Warped. I wish I had though. But I did just leave Motley Crue's concert with Alice Cooper. Best show I've ever been to.

Hell Freezes Over?

That's the one!

I'd like to take a moment to say how happy I am to be with the rest of you old farts. For once I don't feel like the forum Matriarch. Haha

I'm the youngest old man you'll ever meet.... or indirectly talk to on the Interwebs. Close enough.

I'll have to see if I can find that online. [ I'm sure I can ;) ] I really like Joe Walsh, never met him, but I just really like him. I always liked when he'd show up on The Drew Carey Show. I'll have to ask my mom if she ever met him. Wouldn't surprise me if she had. My parents have lots of stories about old rock stars. My dad once threated Bonnie Raitt to throw a mic stand through the windshield of her limo-- but that's a tale for another time. I think we've derailed this thread far enough. but hey, that means I finally get to use this emoticon → :offtopic:

I live in a tiny town in CT, and just found out 2 days ago that there was a vape shop in my town, while I was waiting for my things I ordered from the internet to come in. I thought I'd check it out today, and it was fun. The woman that owns it was very nice, showed me lots of stuff, and was very helpful. I only went in there because my iTaste 134 mini came in the mail today, but my batteries are still in transit, and I couldn't wait for a battery! Even though it cost more than what I could get on the internet, I ended up walking out after probably an hour and a half with an eGo-C upgrade battery, Innokin iClear 16 and replacement coil, a little stand and lanyard for it, a drip tip, a Kanger AeroTank as a spare for my 134, a little bottle of some nice custard juice with no nicotine (so I didn't OD on my first day with my new equipment. LOL), and a needle cap top for my juice.

There was a couple there buying their first e-cigs, and I chatted with them, told them I'd been 9 days without an analog....had a nice conversation.

There aren't many shops around here, and the ones that do exist capitalize on genuine folks trying to quit analogs. People who truly want to quit smoking are intrigued by vaping, however don't know much about the community and options. Unfortunately the shops around here take advantage of this fact and sell overpriced, ripoff products:(
Annoys me a bit, because the elderly man will come in few days later complaining about the crappy clearo that was sold to him, to where the shops try to sell him another one or question his method of vaping, if there even is such a thing. Since most new local vapers don't feel comfortable buying online, they stick with the shops, and get turned off the idea of vaping in general, just because of the shady products that were sold to them:eek:
