I have a Canon Rebel xt 8 mg
My camera tonight decided to make some funny clicking noise when I put the newly charged battery in it.. I have 2 other back up batteries and all doing same thing. It almost sounds like the shutter is stuck or the flash wants to go up but isnt.. but I did put on to No flash and still making that noise..in fact it is making the noise as soon as battery is put into camera :(
Does anyone have any clue of what it may be? There are NO camera repair places in my area and it looks like I need to ship out and that is gonna start at 75.00 just to look at it.
If you know what this is or maybe have an idea or know of someone good with cameras please Pm me.. Thank you, Lori B

Did you check Canon's web site to see if there is any recall on that model? I have an old A75 Powershot that's been working great for years. Couple weeks ago I turn it on and there is nothing on the screen except some purple lines. So it was working one day and not the next. Turns out there was a recall due to a faulty CCD in that model and it didn't matter how old it was or if it was still under warranty or not. I contacted Canon and they not only fixed it for free but paid for shipping both ways. I was ready to throw it in the trash since it's so old and not worth much but I got it back from them in new condition.

I opened the battery area and I do not see any spot for a little other battery. It looks like I am going to have to send this off somewhere. I cant find any camera repair shops here in my area on the treasure coast. I am going to check west palm beach area. Thank you for trying! If you think of anything else..let me know.. I would love to take apart if I knew it was safe.. have done plenty of work on my laptops but can find anything online on how to fix. Lori

Unfortunately been there, done all that already and message is reading err 99 still. I had the lens off, cleaned them with eraser, changed cf card, tried without in, tried another cannon lense and another charged battery.. =(
I quess I gotta send it out.. I saw camera only bodies being sold on Ebay.. for about 200.. the way I see it its gonna cost that much between shipping and fixing. I will keep this one for parts! Thank you guys!
