It really takes a bit of time for things to settle out. First is the purging of the bad tobacco stuff, and, for me, the start of good stuff coming back. For instance, I just noticed a noticeable change in my tasting ability. It had changed some early on, but it just made a noticeable jump.

Sometimes I wonder if vaping is the first culprit thought of...

Ok. I'm pushing 12 weeks, I think, away from tobacco. My wife still smokes, so there's always smokes around if I want one.... I came close a couple weeks ago, but ended up breaking the cig and walking away.
The only major negative side effect TO ME, is that I can't stand the residual smell of tobacco smoke. I don't mind the smoke per se, but exposure over a few minutes makes me sneeze a lot. Because of this I end up spending less time with my wife if she's smoking.

I'm not going back to tobacco. I tried using gum, patches, and scripts in the past, even being broke. Nothing worked. My mother sent me a disposable cig-a-like 9 months ago. I found the "tobacco" flavor a little off putting, but I saw the potential. In the fall I bought a rechargeable one. Still didn't like the flavor. But pulled apart the guts of one of the "disposable" cartridges, and realized I could put better flavored liquid in.
...that's where everything changed. After a couple months, I'm thinking: I could actually do this. At tax return Xmas I bought a decent vv unit.
I pledged to myself that I would no longer smoke, and have not. I don't think I will either, as I actually enjoy vaping. I started at 36mg, lol, so reducing the nic level was pretty easy. I'm at 18 now, not lacking.

The main, and I believe, most profound "side effect" we are all experiencing as a group is that we are extending the length and quality of our lives!
This is a two edged sword, we (most of us) are no longer giving money to "big tobacco," and to the parasitic state and federal government agencies that rely on that "sin tax" from us. By living longer we will also be eligible to receive more benefits from social security. Since we will live longer, more healthy lives, we will spend substantially less on prescription drugs and hospital "visits." This is not a side-effect it's a direct effect, and it will have profound consequences.

Viva vaping!

This is the same problem I have, vocal cords coated that I have to clear, little to no coughing. I've had this ever since I started vaping.
KenS & DEAc23,
did this clear up for you? I have the same problem. it IS NOT my lungs clearing out. While I smoked, I would cough up a lung every morning in the shower. this is not the same. it feels like my throat is "coated" after I vape. I clear my throat & spit & it is clear, not phlem. I am thinking it has to do with the pg/vg ratio., just havent tested it out yet. all the juice I have is 50/50 and i'm reading so many conflicting things on this board as to which it may be, the pg or the vg.

Day 7 after buying my first working system and down to 6-8 analogs a day (depends on how many beers);

For the last 2 days, my throat is not really sore, but feels like when I have a cold; a little irritated sort of, but no problem swallowing. I did vape like mad since I got the spinner, enjoying a strong hit (much, much better than my previous system anyways) and wasn't drinking nearly enough water yesterday. Could also be due to smoking a lot less (down from 21+ a day) or the fact that I spent last afternoon vaping menthol (which I don't taste, but really feel). I'm looking at 100% VG options to at least have a backup just in case.

The smoker's cough (with morning phlegm) is now much better but I've been having a dry cough since the throat is irritated, almost as if I actually had a cold.

Allergies hit real bad since yesterday: could be that sinuses are more open from smoking less and/or smoking all that menthol or just that this season will be total hell. For those interested in getting rid of seasonal allergies; eat a whole bottle of bee's pollen in a day (found in supplements section, but getting hard to find nowadays). Worked for me 10-15 years ago and now I'm looking for some more. A little bit works like a single allergy pill, but if you eat it like it's crack it works for much longer periods of time. Sorry for the off topic...

All these could be just because I'm actually getting a cold, but I don't remember ever having symptoms for 3 days before being sick or being sick for 3 days (strong genetics).

My GF was feeling bad on Monday from chain vaping on Sunday, but I'm sure it's a nicotine concentration problem.

One of my juices has a strong buttery walnut aftertaste that possibly could make me feel woozy if I overdo it. Good thing it's not my only juice.

Everyone's body is different but I think dry and irritated throat is probably the most common. I had it for a couple weeks when I started but zero side effects whatsoever in the last 10 months. I'm not a terrible heavy user. Almost never more than 3mls a day and probably closer to 2 most days.

Nic strength seems to make a difference. I started with 24 but am down to 10-12 now. I was reminded recently about the sore throat thing when a friend of mine had a flavor he wanted me to try. I filled a tank of it and it was 24 strength. I noticed the harsher vape immediately and ended up with a slightly sore throat after 3-4 hours.

Been vaping for about six weeks and the only bad effect has been on my wallet! Still buying stuff to find the elusive 'perfect vape." Getting close! Now making my own juice and wrapping coils. As far as hobbies go, this one is probably the lest expensive!
My sense of smell started coming back after a few days of stopping smoking. It is amazing how much a current smoker stinks after having had a cig!

That's very good to know; I'm at 18mg, but thinking of going 12 or mixing them to get around 16if necessary. My GF did finds my vape too strong and I find hers very light (12 mg).

If you are after throat hit, I would add more Pg into pg/vg ratio when you step down in nicotine. I tend to vape 70/30 pg/vg most of the time.

The juice I currently buy is 70/30 pg/vg already, but I'll see if it's the nicotine level that is too harsh for my throat. Otherwise, I might have to up vg content and go for a good mod to help compensate. I was already looking at mods from the start anyways :D

I have had allergic reactions to VG and some flavoring. No severe, but I do have to be careful about what juice I vape.

I had a friend that had a reaction to vaping as well. What juices cause you to have a reaction? Have you figured out exactly what to stay away from? He really wants to vape because of the success I have had, but is hesitant to try again. His reaction wasn't too terrible, but bad enough to stay away...
