Regarding sore throats, there is definitely a difference in throat soreness depending on which vaping device you are using. I settled on the Joyetech 510 cartomizers very early on, and I've stayed with them because I think they deliver the most satisfying flavor and throat sensations, with virtually no sore throat. This is just my opinion based on my experience. However, when I use the Joyetech tank systems, my wife and I both noticed a distinct difference in that those systems burn our throats. I've not been able to figure out why that is the case. I still mostly use the cartomizers, despite their well-known drawbacks (the awful taste they deliver when the wick is burned up, or the absolutely horrible taste when they run dry and the poly filler burns!! Yuck!!) Anyway, I still like the cartomizers overall, and I still get a burning sensation in my throat when I fire up one of the tank systems. I don't know if it's the polyvinyl tank that's creating the burning, but I suspect it is. I also notice the liquid turns dark pretty quickly in the tank systems, and I don't know the explanation for that either.
Anyway, the burning sore throat has more possible causes than just whether it's PG or VG juice. It could also be the vaping device.

Most of the "side effects" that people experience when they start vaping have NOTHING to do with vaping. They are withdrawal symptoms from going off analogs.

As your body flushes all those evil cigarette-based chemicals out, the detoxification process manifests as things like pimples, headaches, and cold-like symptoms. Unless you have an allergy to VG or PG, most of the symptoms you experience are actually GOOD signs--because they mean your body is clearing itself out.

They may be uncomfortable, annoying or even slightly painful, but if you can "push through" them, you will be MUCH better off health-wise as a vaper than you were as a cigarette smoker...

The side effects of quitting smoking are the awful, I will admit that. I didn't have that wonderful moment where the ecig was perfect and there were lollilpops and rainbows everywhere.
I had found this place and had read the thread about symptoms when quitting smoking and that helped a lot. I had never heard of the "smokers flu" and at least I knew I wasn't the only person to have gone through this. Did I feel like I had been hit by a truck some days?
Yes. I went to a dr over Thanksgiving thinking I had pneumonia or pleurisy, and I had neither, my lungs are clearing up, but I had pulled some muscles in my chest.
I quit smoking the end of August. I refuse to buy more smokes. I have "bummed" a smoke a couple of times, usually when out with my smoking friends, and can't even get through a cigarette now.
I dont' use pg juices, I only use vg ones.
I also have a humidifier in my house as I am in a real cold climate, and it helped me with the nasty hacking cough.
Just don't give up. It really sucked for me the first couple months, but it does get better. You're not in this alone. A lot of people here have gone through the same thing, and you do have some pretty helpful people here you with anything they can. I am pulling for ya, Been smoke free since the end of August this year, and I hope you find enough info here to help you with your own journey!

I had the same problem with my throat feeling like it was closing. There is hope, this seems to be a common side affect in the begining but will improve over time. I think what a lot of people don't think about when they switch is, sure, you are still getting nicotine but you are suddenly depriving your body of hundreds of other chemicals that it was used to getting every day for years. I have found most common complaints to be throat irritation, headaches, insomnia and heartburn. Allergic reactions usually consist of rash or hives and itching and you would probably know if you had an allergy to PG as it is in a lot of every day products like tooth paste, shaving cream, soaps, lotions and the list goes on. I have also found for myself that some flavors seem to bring back the throat irritation and so I always keep with me a clearomizer with a minty mix which seems to with that problem if and when it acts up. I also agree with previous posts about drinking as much water as possible during the transition. Good luck to you!

I had a problem with a blend that contained sweet tart as well. I would stay away from it if you are having problems.
I got a sore throat from juice with too much pg. I use 50/50 now and my throat doesn't hurt at all. Also, when I used a "sweet tarts" juice flavor it made my throat hurt really bad. I would try changing juices and a different vendor perhaps.

Dont know if this has been covered or not but it may be to do with you taking in more nicotine than you used to with cigs? I know when i started vaping i vaped so much more than i smoked and sure that i ended up taking in more nicotine because of it. If you're not taking in any more nicotine than you were when you smoked then i'd seek medical help.

Yeah it seemed for me that it took several weeks to get over the swelling of my throat and glands from vaping. The local store that I buy juices only sells 70/30 pg:vg juices and I think thats why I had those symptoms, but it did go away eventually and I'll second those who commented about drinking more water, that defenitely helps. Oh haha and if you can, put it down for an hour or so when the symptoms happen and drink water. Ibuprofen helped a lot too. Hang in there man.
