There is a local DIY'er who sells a great "bourbon custard" juice.
Im dying to come up with a similar recipe.
Sofar ive done a "castle long" clone recipe that has alot of flavors...
Kentucky bourbon
Vanilla bourbon
Coconut
Oak wood
Brown sugar
And a few others....
Its way too strong and just dont like it...

I went out on a limb and tried my own recipe based on what i didnt like in the above recipe.
I halved the bourbon flavors and added a good amount of vanilla swirl and a little marshmallow.....
Getting close but still not sweet enough and missing a certain "spice bite"

My nephew came by today and had some of the local DIY'ers "bourbon custard"
I got a chance to drip some again today....

I get the bourbon flavor right off the bat but it has a nice spiciness to it, then comes the sweet smooth flavor that mine doesnt have. It almost tastes like it could be butterscotch and or carmel.

I dont have butterscotch or carmel flavors so probably need to make another order soon.

Im really wanting to nail a similar flavor....its a great vape.

Anyone have a good bourbon recipe or have any suggestions?

Thanks

Might try looking here: Absolute BEST custard recipe that RULES all??
and wading through the 13 pages to find a great custard base. If you can nail that (to your liking) then I would think adding the bourbon notes you desire would be a snap. The key will be the custard.

Keep us informed on your progress.

Funny you should ask...whipped this up over the weekend:

Cotto's Revenge Bourbon Custard (Clone)

TFA Coconut Extra 1%
TFA Kentucky Bourbon 8%
TFA Toasted Almond 1%
TFA Vanilla Custard 10%

(Sorry, can't link to the site where I found it.)

It's a long steeper, the chef recommends 20 days. Mine's in the steep drawer now. I did sample it fresh and it was very heavy on the "turpentine" note, as is usual for freshly mixed TFA VC, but it smells and tastes much better now, though still not ready. When using TFA VC, I've found it's helpful to let the mix breathe cap off overnight to get rid of that heavy solvent. I'm sure you could sub CAP VC1 with reckless abandon and get near identical results.

Have fun.

Edit: Just sampled it again, in a tank this time. Coming along nicely. Personally, I might lower the Kentucky Bourbon to around 5%, because it seems to be overpowering everything else at this stage (4 days in), but it's still raw at this point. Custard needs more time, but it's good. If you're looking for bourbon, you'll like it.

You know what might be good in this? TFA Dulce de Leche or Caramel original. :)

I have a cotto clone as well about 2 weeks into steep. The bourbon is too strong and dont like the coconut.

The local guy who makes this "bourbon custard" juice told my nephew he uses butterscotch, vanilla custard, and a little peanut butter.... thats all he mentioned.

I got a bottle of it to test and try to pick out the flavorings.
At first I tasted bourbon then a little spice, then butterscotch....after vaping it half the day I only get butterscotch.
I wonder if he didnt use bourbon at all or maybe just a tiny bit of spiced rum.
I dont know but its pretty good.

Yeah.... I think I just need to nail the custard flavor down then add a little bourbon untill It has the accent of bourbon that I want.
Any thoughts on kentucky bourbon vs vanilla bourbon? I havnt flavor tested each alone yet.

I haven't tried kentucky bourbon. I tried VB as a standalone at far too high of a percent and did not care for it. It works nice at a 1 or 2% accent but it is not really a bourbon, it is a type of vanilla. You might want to add Real Flavor's Aged Bourbon Cream and plain Bourbon flavors to your shopping list to try.

This will be my starting point this weekend.

Inawera custard .5%
Cap vc v1 8%
Hangsen vanilla 2%
Marshmallow cap 2%
Seedmans cognac tobacco 1%

Maybe a small amount of oakwood (fa). It is great in a smoked custard and would add that smokey touch. The Seedmans from wizard labs is an awesome boozy flavor. I don't really detect a tobacco note. It is the only alcohol flavor I have ever tried so take it for what it is worth.

Here ya go...

Beantown Vapor Soul Custardy - Le DIY pour les Nuls

I can't vouch for it but it does look good.
I converted that to RF SC flavors but haven't mixed up a tester yet. I did mix up my RF SC adaptation of the v3 recipe I found on ELR today and the finger test was very yummy:

Soul Custardy v1.00 (RFSC)
1.75% Vanilla Custard (Real Flavors)
0.50% Cream (Real Flavors)
0.50% Graham Cracker (Real Flavors)
0.40% Butter Toffee (Real Flavors)
0.25% Bourbon (Real Flavors)
0.20% Brown Sugar (Real Flavors)

I need to get me some Bourbon!!! That's one thing I don't have yet and I don't see a ton of applications for it, for me anyway.

I've been watching your Real Flavors posts quite closely as I'm going the route of highly concentrated flavors too. The only RF flavor I have is Key Lime Pie and I'm not entirely happy with it - it needs to age 6 to 8 weeks and even then needs some add ins to get it to where I want it. However I'm really interested in some of those other flavors, especially the custards and creams.
