Pulled the trigger on the KFL, also got a gold plated drip tip (to make the aga look nice when it's on the ba gua).

Added some more silica and wire as i am expecting a fair bit of trial and error before i get things working to my satisfaction. So much for my no spend October.... it was(nt) fun while it lasted :)

I've gone for the 1mm silica this time as i'm thinking i would rather have 1mm doubled up for a bit more wicking area in the tank than the 2mm, and I'm also guessing that it will be a neater coil with a bit more breathing space if it's wrapped around 2 pieces of 1mm.

Well, I took a trashed coil, straightened it out, made a new coil, and then tested the oHm. It was 1.6 oHm according to my eVic. When I heated it up at first, only the left side showed red, so I squeezed it together a bit and then it heated true. I guess I could do it, but I'm thankful that fasttech had pre-made coils I can do on my own regardless :p

I'm actually looking forward to having another go at building coils tonight. Didnt quite get there yesterday, but at least i was close and was really encouraged by the taste more than anything so determined to stick with it :) Saying that, if i could just pop out to town and there was a fast tech store i'd be buying the pre-wrapped ones all day long ;)

codz,

I did thanks terry yes... i had been using a needle instead last night, so i am guessing similar results? Actually, the toothpick may be a better bet as it's a bit thicker and as ian said, i think i was wrapping the coil too tight and it was choking the wick.

I decided to support ECF today... I've had so much good advice off people on here that it's been worth the £15 already :)

I keep saying i will become a supporting member, just not got round to it yet. Indeed sir, The toothpick method will give your wick more room to wick up them lovely liquids.

I'll see if i can hunt one down... otherwise i might try a drill bit of about double the width of the needle. I noticed in that vid you showed me of PBusardo, he burnt the wire first too to limit movement, etc... do you do that? I was thinking it could be a good idea as mine had moved a fair bit once some heat had gone through it.

A lot of people anneal there wire before building a coil, some do it to remove any impurities ie machine oil etc, others do it because it softens the wire, making it a bit easier to work with.

Me personally, I have done it in the past but i find just pulsing the coil after building it, works just as well.

I was just using the pulsing method last night too, so i think i'll stick with that :)

The only downside to the aga and the DDA i bought the other day is i feel they make my protank and vivi nova redundant. Actually, some liquids are fine in the protank, but i've noticed a few that only come alive in the DDA.

Lol i have got loads of stuff what is now redundant,

It just happens with the progress being made all the time. Tanks move on, and so do we.:)

It had better stop soon... lol

I'm tempted to get a provari over the weekend. I do want it in a certain colour though... no point paying that much and not getting the colour you want. I figure as far as electrical devices go, i should be done for 12 months or so then, and maybe get another mech next year sometimes (probably a REO). Hopefully, the aga and the KFL should keep me happy atty-wise although something like an igo or that octopus that epipeman mentioned would be a nice addittion as the non-rebuildable drippers arent going to last too long.

Or you could go with the trident rda mate,

That is one dripper what kicks like a donkey. It also has variable airhole selections, so you can find your spot. Edit... I bet your provari will be RED.:toast:

I think they may be a little expensive for my first RDA... are they the ones that are about £50?

And on the provari.... i do like the red, although i prefer the black, but better yet the blue :) (and i see LF have a blue in stock, last one aswell, dammit! may have to pay them a visit in the morning!)

Edit: It's not sky blue at least!
