I tried 2mm mini at first, then a 1.5, then settled on 1.7 with 30ga kanthal wire, flame wire, 13 wraps, undo 1st, slide off drill shank, compress lightly with pliers and flame, then back onto the shank to hook up - best vape to date!
Gonna have to try a horizontal u wick soon just out of curiosity!

The TVS, oh my, weighty little beaut! She's my mod of choice, may change over coming days, but for now, it's lust at first kick :)

Don't know if you do this or not Claire. But what I normally do is wrap an extra turn or two on the drill bit. Hold the bit, and pull on the coil leg to unroll it a bit. It gets rid of the first uneven coil wrap, plus it helps to tighten up the coil - so all the wraps are an equal diameter. Don't know about you, but my first wrap of any coil is a bit of a mess

It is strange ian, the only thing i can think is that the stock heads come with a flavour wick installed; and when i re-built mine with none it was causing the flooding.
Don`t tell Ian you do nails claire, he will be round like a shot for a polish  (glad you are enjoying your TVS) Just don`t drop it on your toe. :)

Has to be the case mate. All my bottom coil tanks had flavour wicks as standard from the factory. But sometimes you can get away without the extra wick when rebuilding. I've seen some people using flavour wicks on the KFL too - but I've never needed any.

I've stopped polishing my nails now, kept on chipping the varnish doing manly stuff :p

Hey all, just back from a few days working in London. My IBTanked carto tank is here (yeeey) but my vapology flavours are not (boooo). I havent had chance to pop the IBTank on yet, but i have been using Vapists creamy custard in the smok carto tank and the trident from FT and it is so much nicer than in the protank (far too weak).

I didnt want to risk carting the provari around with me in London so took my evic because i wouldnt have been as bothered if i lost it and quite a few people were asking about it. My friend who smokes sheesha a lot thought it was much more like sheesha than a cigarette, which is right really in how you hold it, draw on it, and the flavours too.

It's surprising the difference a tank can make to a flavour mate. The vapology juice will be worth waiting for too, may need a bit of a steep though when it arrives. We were wondering where you'd disappeared to, Terry was starting to get worried

Cody, please tell us when you get the IBTanked in operation and on what mod you are getting the best vape with. I really adore the metal capped glass tanks and I've ruined my silver one with over cleaning :/ Still searching for another, but refill options on a carto glass tank are very limited :/ I do have a sidewinder pyrex tank, but need replacement metal caps ;/

I see FT are now doing replacement glass tanks Lisa, might be worth getting some in for your tank crackers. Is the aga still going strong ??

I was hoping the kayfun clone might ship today, but still no sign of any movement yet. It's still showing a scheduled ship date of the 20th, that's today - come on FT get a move on

I had a scary experience last night 8-o I went to visit my dad, and while i was there i noticed a bit of rattle in my chi-you which was topped with the rocket.(get a brew on its a long story)...anyhoo i took the bottom cap off and decided to loosen the locking on the firing pin bit a tad, so it would tighten down better on the battery. Problem solved.

Left my dads house and went to my local club for a pint, sat down and had a vape or 12; sat my mod down under the table while i had a swill. went for another pint, settled down again and went to pick my mod up.

Burned my thumb, and nearly jumped through the roof. EVERYTHING was red hot  so cos i let go pretty damn quickly, it was lying on its side. I got my hanky out, threw it onto the mod and managed to unscrew the bottom cap and take the battery out (all still mad hot)

So i waited about 30 minutes for it to cool down. the firing pin had unscrewed totally, so when i sat it down it was firing constantly. It had burned through about 3 ml of juice, in about 15 mins and i am really gratefull that i had a safe chemistry battery in; or there could have been a pipe bomb in da house lol. seriously though no damage to my mod/tank etc, but i do think my battery maybe dead :p

OMG! I was reading this so closely because I wondered if it'd been a HOT battery!!!

I need to know what are safe batteries and what are not :/ I have been given so many batteries and bought so many, I am confused about it. I do have 2 red batteries where the plastic covering is peeling from a rough mod and that other looks to be melted :/ I can't remember which it was, but one mech was funky and the button got so HOT... someone told me the sand it down, or sand something down, I have forgotten, but it worked LOL

Anyway, I am soooooooooooooooooooooo glad that you are well and had no explosions!!!

And it is all thanks to this forum, In which i asked all my questions regarding batteries, and thanks for your concern lisa :)

The safer chemistry batteries are the aw imr, or effest. I use both these types and i am glad i do, If you just do a google search for "safer chemistry batteries" you will find what you NEED to have for your mechs.

Ahhhh, then I have both red and green AW IMR batteries. My red AW IMR batteries seem to be losing their wrapping and one of the seems to have melted the plastic wrapping =] I have it set aside to dispose of.

Yes better safe than sorry eh :)

Just in case you didn`t know lise, if you ever had the same problem i had last night; the safer chemistry batteries will just vent a hot gas (which is probably what happened to mine) rather than explode  which, imo is the best option.

In fact they are the only batteries i use in my mechs, apart from 2 protected 350`s which i use in the ba-gua.

Back in the day there were a lot of what we could call "mechs" around. They were a lot better than a cig-a-like - but they were a bit dangerous.

I had a 14500 device from PureSmoker that went critical on me twice. I was sent a new switch, and after that you had to use a hammer on it to make it work at all. Sigh...the number of hours I spent pressing English 1p pieces on that switch...

And then you get the "I've forgotten that I'm a sensible person and I've put a battery in my pocket with change" thing. Your battery overloads and you suddenly have hot trousers in a really, really bad way. Luckily, no harm done (other than to the battery, of course).

The main thing about the old mechs was that they were a great advance but very unsafe. These days I like apvs for the additional safety.

Having messed around with the old gear - I really, really don't want a mech.

Alright Codz - now I've got the aga everything seems bland in protanks - can't wait for other RBA's to arrive then protanks will be resigned to dire emergency vape kit!

Ha ha, I'll pop a bit of bling on his nails too if he wants - match his shiny toys like the Taifun.........jealous much, me, never! Ha ha.

I don't know what it is Terry but can't bare to chuck old vape gear, one for in case of a huge emergency, but mostly, despite knowing I prefer other systems, I can't help thinking they'll come in handy for something!
You know them carto's you sent? Is there any on FT the same or very similar? Would you recommend keeping them on a mech, or would an ego type battery get them going alright? I'm thinking of using them for stealth vaping at school gates etc

Now, Rocket and V12 on way, steam turbine and I atty still waiting in HK. I'm getting rid of the mini zmax, I have the 2 mechs and the vamo - need few more mods in the lower price region so got a mod for each topper (I got a feeling I'm gonna barely use V12 when trident arrives so no worried about a mod for each of them lol) I were thinking another vamo in case this one goes poorly, but I like the look of the MVP but not sure about their compatibility with the toppers I've got, or is their another sweet hefty mech like the TVS? I don't mind doing math to work out my ohms for 3.7volt avg - I got a calculator! And a decent multimeter. Ideas?
I need a new charger too so recommended ones that are rated for safety would be helpful - google's a mare, I'd rather get real people opinions :)

I have decided when I have a mod for each topper, toppers working good, a few more Torchy batts and a decent charger, I'm gonna be a good girl and purchase only juice and wicking material until I have saved enough for a provari - I wanna see if the vape really does taste better! - and I'm gonna try my hardest to grab one of the rocketsciencemods RBA's, but they're sold out really quick when they go on sale :(

Without having tried the IBTanked yet, im fairly sure the provari is going to be the best mod for it - IBTanked seem to be waaaay ahead as the preferred toppers for a lot of provari owners on your side of the pond! I have to say, the smok carto tank i have vapes a bit better on the provari than my other mods, although it's not as big a difference as i can tell with protanks, etc. I loooooove the green anodised caps and the green IB Tipsy i got - I can see myself building up a collection of those tanks ;) (I'll post a pick soon)

Jesus Terry, you were lucky there! Glad you are ok mate :) It does go to show the benefits of using the IMR batteries though, and also shows that the chi-you vent holes worked as they should or you could have had a nasty little explosion going on there. I've heard that some of the mechs, especially clones can be bad for not having vent holes.

Ahhh Terry can rest easy now! If it's not my back troubling me then its me working away. I'm trying to cut down on the amount of time i am sat on my laptop (not literally!) as its the worst thing for my back, but i will always be back on here!

I just use my protanks for menthol type flavours now, they seem really good for menthols, but a bit pants for sweet / dessert juices.

I am exactly the same when it comes to chucking stuff out claire,

I have got a vamo and 2 other mods, all with the 510 threads shot; but i just don`t have the heart to bin them. And yes i am sure F./t sell the carto`s i will look for the link later; and yes again you can use them on an ego if you so desire:)

Now regarding another hefty mod similar to the Tvs, The only suggestion i could give you would be the brass nemesis; It won`t be as chunky as the tvs but being all brass it will be weighty. In fact i have got one in transit, as i type:toast: here you are claire...http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10004522/1411217-authentic-smoktech-510-dual-coils-cartomizers-5 http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10005773/1493800-nemesis-mechanical-mod

Cheers cody, good to have you back mate.

Yes luckily all the safety features kicked in, and worked well. All i lost was a 500 battery, but that can be replaced. My face or a couple of fingers would be a bit trickier to replace me thinks.

Ian i got a question for you mate,

What tube configuration do you use on your chi you, to run it in 650 mode ? I have tried every combination, and the only one which will work is all 3 sections with a kick, anything else means the tube is either too long or to short:p They are flat top batteries from torchy.
