i had my brother round today and he is 6 years older than me and 2 years ago he had a heart attack at work and one of his work mates found him on the floor and gave him cpr untill the ambulance came and he still smokes but he seen me vaping away and said he may try it so i told him to have a vape on mine and he did and he said it wasnt bad then he left and went to work well

he has just phoned he wants me to take him to a vape shop tomorrow so we may have converted another one ;););)

That's excellent news mate, just tell him that after a couple of days if he sticks with vaping he'll never look back.

I broke myself in slowly. Started off having a smoke then a vape. So on my first day I cut down by half, then after a week or so it was mainly vaping with a cig in the morning and after a meal. After about 3 weeks, got up one morning at 5 for work had one cig left, smoked it and thought I'll see how long I can go just vaping - the rest is history. It's amazing how easy it is to quit the stinkies if you really want to.

I keep on trying to persuade my Mum to vape, but she's a real technophobe. She doesn't think she'll be able to fill up tanks  I will convert her one day - I vape, my Sister vapes now and so does my Niece. My Mum's the odd one out now

 I like that swapping the fags for juice. Tell you what, try buying 10 cigs, get another 9 empty packets out of the neighbours bins and see if he'll swap the 10 single cig packs for 10 bottles of juice - now that would be a good result :laugh:

Anyway, I'm gonna shoot off now, I'm knackered. Hope everything goes well with your Brother's new adventure :)

Maybe you can try tempting her with them pre filled carto system or something like eroll from Joyetech, they look easy and simple enough and it beats having to go out in cold/rainy weather to grab a pack of 'stinkies' when you run out. Once she's started, she'll cave in :).

Hmm.. I never run out of juice, does anyone?

Well after the mess up with the SID, went out and did the yard work to get my mind off of it. Was thinking about the dremel setting on the work bench, and the AGR tank I couldn't use because all my cartomizers have a flange, then I thought, well I can just grind off the flange, so that's what I did to a couple of them, fit right nice in the AGR tank. Loaded up and vaping away on my SID.

Also decided to get another tobacco maceration going. Half filled a pint jar with Virginia Flue Cured tobacco leaf, opened a Tully's French Roast k-cup and dumped it in, then put in PG to just over the top. Now to let it set for a month or two, no rush as I already have lots already made.

Nope never run out of juice since I started DIY. I've run out of space for all the bottles a few times though

To be honest, I don't think my Mum's ready to quit smoking yet, I know I could get her set up with a decent kit from the start, but I don't think she's ready yet. She says there's no vape shops near where she lives and she'd be worried about running out of juice, plus the newsagents is a 2 minute walk away - open 18 hours a day. I've told her just to buy 50ml of juice and that will last ages, or I can make her a full litre of DIY, but she does pulls the "Mother's annoyed face" - that's my cue to stop nagging ;)

Excellent result mate, as long as he's got decent flavours that he enjoys, that's the best way to start vaping. Sounds like you did pretty well there too Ron

You'll be able to chat "vape talk" with your brother now too, just don't get too competitive - my batteries bigger than yours etc :p

Well Futz, I screwed up the board trying to get it out of the broken SVD.:mad::mad:

Oh well, guess the wood custom mod I was thinking about is not going to happen now.

Just have to keep looking for pre-built ones, which is a lot less work. :)

Guess it was just not meant to happen mate :(

There will be other mods in the future I'm pretty sure about that ;)

I got my Fasttech replacement base yesterday (Taifun).

Ordered October.
Arrived December
Base requested
Arrived February.

My "relationship" with FT is repaired.

Let the shopping begin. :)

Well that took it's time arriving. What do you think of the Taifun mate ??

I see FT have the "Otto Carter" inspired chi-you in stock now. I'm not too sure about it myself, looks different with all the engraving, but I think I'll wait for some reviews first.

whats the best way to steep new juice do you just leave the lid off for a couple of days or remove the dropper as well and just give them a shake 2-3 times a day

Depends. To just let the flavors meld, let it set for a while, shake every now and again. If it has a perfume/soap taste/smell, then the top and dropper off, and shake every now and again for at least a month. JMHO

You can also use a bit of heat too Ron. It's a bit awkward to do but speeds up the process a lot. Some people buy an ultrasonic cleaner, which heats and agitates the liquid at the same time. A simpler way is to use a warm water bath, place the bottles in it with the tops off, change the water when it gets cool and give the bottles an occasional shake. But don't use hot water, over 60 degrees Celsius, it can cause the plastic to leach chemicals into the juice making it go off.

Forgot to mention, tobacco juices are the ones that normally take the longest to steep, while some fruit type juices only need 2-3 days before their vapable. I generally leave all my DIY stuff for a week though, test in a dripper after a week to see if their ok.

To be honest, I've never used heat, but I do know it works. I've got that many different juices, it doesn't bother me having to wait a few days to try out a new one :)

I do normally steep mine in a dark cupboard with the top and dripper cap removed. Give them a daily shake or three. Works well so far. The other thing I look for is colour change in a liquid, most will be pretty clear when their brand new.

Anyway, time for me to go now. See you all later - just a quick visit for me tonight.
