I've done 32gauge at 2.0ohm over a mini screw driver the ones you get with sunglasses repair kit. Stuck some cotton on and i get one or 2 puffs then a bad taste of burning! It's foul!

What am I doing wrong?!!

First of all a big apology that I had to dash off last night, the Wife dropped a glass in the kitchen, so I had to sort out the mess, she couldn't move, she'd gone in there barefoot

Plus today has been a pointless day really.

Had my blood tests at 12 today, went to the Doctors - no appointment had been booked, so had to wait an extra 20 minutes to get slotted in, was panicking a bit cos I had to be at the bank for 1pm.

Managed to get to the bank on time. Paid £2 to park in town, got to see the mortgage advisor with the Wife. After half an hour she asked to see our bank statements, which they didn't ask us to bring originally. So back home pick up the statements, back to town, had to pay for parking again, after waiting 10 minutes for the parking attendant to fix the machine which had run out of paper :( Back into the bank. All in all, we were there for nearly 4 hours to do a re-mortgage, when we initially enquired there, they promised us they could beat our current mortgage payments at the other bank. After nearly 4 hours, the quote they gave us was actually more

Came out if the bank and got a frantic phone call off my Sister, her car was pi**ing out petrol can I have a look at it. She was at my Niece's house 4 miles away, 30 minutes stuck in traffic. Her fuel filter had sprung a leak, so she'll be car-less until I can fix it later this week.

So today has been one to forget :(

Unfortunately, I've not been able to do any mixing or any posting - sorry Trisha and Terry. I've got a lllloooonnngggg meal break tomorrow though Trisha, so I can post the parcel off tomorrow for you

I Promise:laugh:

But the worst thing about today is, I've only got a short time on ECF

Does the cotton look a bit burned under the coil, if so the cotton is too thick. If the cotton is too tightly wrapped that can cause wicking problems too, as the juice won't feed up to the coil quickly enough. The cotton has to stay wet with juice under the coil all the time :)

Looks like a Provari Terry.

Sorry you had such a crappy day mate :( Don`t be in any rush with the mixing Ian i have got bloody loads to be getting on with.:D
Yeah i was thinking provari myself, if it is he needs to adjust the settings as that coil looks okay to me.

Ian, do you have certain mods what will only fire if they have certain batteries in. ??

Cheers mate, I had plans to get some serious mixing done this afternoon, so I'm a bit cheesed off the way today went.

Yep, some mods will only work with button top batts, while others will work with flat tops. Plus, the Poldiac only seems to fire with my lower amp rated batts. If I try my higher rated Panny batts in it, nothing happens

Sounds like you had a really bad day, hope tomorrow is better for you, hope the wife is okay as well, and didn't cut herself.

Tomorrow will be better, even though I'm back at work on a 12 hour shift :D

The Wife was fine thanks mate. She dropped the glass and didn't move for 10 minutes while I made sure I'd got all the shards cleared up.

Yep it's strange, you'd think any battery would work in any mod.

I'll have to shoot off now anyway, got to do my sarnies for tomorrow and iron my shirts.

See you all later.

Up until the other day I have only had button tops, but needed some more and couldn't source any so got some flat tops, so far I've found 2 that won't take them, the eVic I knew wouldn't as the tubes have a hole at the top end where the button pokes through, the Provari doesn't either, but my Coolfire 1 with extension works fine, I'll just test them as I need them for the rest.

The Firebox is lovely and so easy to use, I've also got a 2nd hand Billet box on it's way to me, cost me a little more than a brand new one, but I get lots of accessories and batteries to go with it and no surprise tax to pay.

Don't even think of cutting your meal break short just to send something to me! Have your proper break - you need it on a 12hr shift! :)

What a lousy day you had - hope tomorrow is a really good day!

OUCH! hope it can be repaired/replaced fairly cheaply, another expensive hobby you have, my best mate and ex-work colleague who now lives in Antwerp has the 450D and he likes it, I had a couple of Canons pre digital days but had to sell them, the Nikon is the first I have had since then, managed to clear all my debts so had enough to buy one before I decided to retire.

The Samsung Galaxy series are very nice but they put a lot of crap apps on their phones, so you have to spend a few minutes re-arranging the home screens to put them in the general space rather than on the home screens, the HTC are also supposed to be a very good, but I can't comment on them, but don't decide too quick, do some research so that you can see the pros and cons.

Knocking it over was a bit of a freak accident - the tripod is quite a heavy one. I was surprised it didn't damage the macro lens that was on it at the time.
The 450D may be a few models back, but it serves me well. Unfortunately, to have this one repaired would cost over £100 ...perhaps as much as £150, and I could buy a decent used one for that. What I will do is see how things go (it's been a quiet time so far this year) and if my next exhibition goes OK, I'll get a 550D. I do still have a good working one.
Photography isn't a hobby, it's a somewhat reluctant necessity for my work. I photograph objects, fruit, fabric etc., either singly or in set-ups, often using low light longer exposures, and use them for reference. Plus, I do all the photography of finished work for the galleries to use, and for my own website. It's a pain, but it means I can send them properly colour adjusted/edited images before the actual work has to be there, so even if not ready to varnish & frame, I can photograph them.

I will take my time over a phone - not urgent, and anything technological seems to be a minefield of variations now, so I'll need to spend a bit of time to make sure I don't get any fussy bits I don't need :D !

i love them as well trish.:D I have some friends who are lets say real characters. A few years ago one of them got home in the early hours, after a real long drinking session.

Went straight to the kitchen, pulled out a fray bentos, read the intstructions. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees etc and cook for 25 mins or untill the pastry has risen. sorry i am laughing my head off typing this.

Anyhoo he pops it in the oven, goes into the living room (this is his mums house BTW) and he fell asleep in the chair.
About 90 minutes later there was a massive explosion :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: he didn`t know you had to remove the lid. Blew a big hole out of his mums kitchen wall.

You have to feel for his mother. :D
