Had a lovely ride on friday Ian. Went over saddleworth moor to holme firth, bloody beautiful.:) Them juices can`t be any worst than they were mate, i hope it works out for you.

Lovely part of the country mate, glad you enjoyed it :) Not been to Holme Firth for years, but I do remember some cracking scenery. Got tomorrow off, so hopefully I'll get some dripping done, unless the Boss has other plans for me

I really do agree - kids just have no discipline at all and just do as they like. Society seems to have set the little darlings on pedestals, and they very soon become aware of it! There's only two things they need to be taught early: respect and values! Not hard ..or so you'd think.
True, they aren't all badly behaved, but way too many are!

Well, we have our contents with AA, and we did have to claim for car damage after part of the garage roof blew off in strong gales 9 years ago and damaged both cars, one was a company car, but mine was insured with them. I had a Clio then and it was a mess, but they had it repaired like new! It was a painless and easy process too, so I'm hoping they're as good with contents!

Been one of those weeks where there's too much stuff getting in the way ...hoping this week will be a calm and peaceful one!

Some of the kids can be great and it's normally the ones you wouldn't expect it from. But I do agree, it's a lack of discipline. When I was a kid Mum just had to take her slipper off and we'd soon start behaving. Never got smacked with it, the action was enough though

I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly with the insurance. To be honest I've only ever claimed once, when we had a camera stolen on holiday. They sent a guy round to interview us, like being on trial :( We did get the claim settled though, so that's the main thing.

510 connectors probably would work but as you say it won't look nice and I've got loads of other mods I can use instead.

When I was on the railway I travelled nearly all over Europe for free, but have never been to the Baltic States before, now that they have split up Yugoslavia, I have only been to Croatia and Slovenia, and the others I have not been to are Albania (they used to ban beardies), Finland, Greece, Slovakia (went to Czech part before and after the split) & Turkey and none of the islands in the Med. My favourite countries are Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Germany & Switzerland especially, never been outside of Europe though, and do want to do the Trans Canadian

That's one of the nice things about living down here you can actually get almost that if you are disabled, there are 2 schemes a mini bus which will pick you up close to where you live and take you to the shops and back for free but you may have to wait a long time for it, or a taxi for a set fee used to be £3 each way, I have thought about registering the missus for the taxi one as she is quite dodgy on her pins now, due to just sitting around all day, but she can manage.

You're a bit of a globe trotter on the quiet Bob  I've been to a few places in Europe myself as well as Turkey and the Caribbean. Actually spent a few months working on Euro Disney while it was being built. Driving in the centre of Paris really is an experience  Always fancied Switzerland and Belgium too. Getting free travel is a great bonus too. I can travel almost anywhere in the UK with my staff pass, except London. Plus we can get cut price rail travel too, but only in the UK.

We have a couple of ring and ride type services here too, it's a great idea for those less mobile. I do drive a few mini bus routes myself that are hail and ride in large parts. I know it sounds like I moan a lot about work, but I love it really - most of the time

Yes, definitely knew the limits. Had our two small grandsons here for a while this afternoon: 7 & 5. Doesn't mater what you say, they ignore it. Tell them to come out of the garage ..nothing. Tell the one who is fishing around in the cutlery drawer to stop as he'll cut himself: nothing. Tell them they can't have the ball for a little white yet ...they help themselves and get it anyway! ...and when one went into a cupboard looking for chocolate biscuits without even asking, I did have to bite my tongue. Our own sons knew better than just help themselves, and always asked first.
I just hate that single mindedness ..almost a juvenile arrogance that they will do as they want to irrespective of anything you say. They're really nice kids otherwise, so it's a shame.

By some miracle, I actually found the original receipts for camera and lens! Phoned the insurance company who asked a few questions and said their camera equipment assessors would phone and deal with whatever decision they came to. They actually phoned around 4pm and asked a lot of questions, said they'd get both items collected from me on Wednesday, and let me know their decision in around 5 days after collection. She mentioned replacement, repair or a payment. I don't mind a replacement camera, but I already got a replacement lens - she said it was no problem because if they decided not to repair it, they could just compensate me. Looking at the lens, I doubt they'd repair it as the aperture segments are sliding around and the outer lens rim is broken and impacted inwards on one side. The camera shows a lot of distortion through the viewfinder and rattles!
Whatever, I can but try!
I'd expected a lengthy form to fill in and a request for photos and receipts - them collecting for inspection is far easier!
Haven't made a contents claim since the 70's for a neat trick our son did with a chip pan: dragged upside down through the house! It had that solid vegetable oil in it, but it wasn't that solid! The carpet it went over was ruined!

Had an email notification that the second FastTech order has been despatched!
The tracking from the first one despatched 16th doesn't seem to show anything yet! For todays date it states: Information Received (This is not an acknowledgment of the physical receipt of the stated Registered Article)

When I retired I lost a lot of my continental free travel, I still get 16 dated boxes a year for uk (put date in box and valid until midnight next day) useful for longer journeys or pay 25%, and I get 1 coupon with 4 boxes for a couple of countries but for the main ones like France, Germany and others I have to pay 50% now, and of course I have my geriatric pass for the bus & tube, which is useful as I only drive people up the wall, used to have a motorbike when I was younger and you didn't HAVE to pass the test.

I know what you mean, we were the same on the railway, always moaning about so and so passengers, but loved the job, but it has changed a lot, in the old days they hardly ever complained to the company, nowadays they write in and complain all the time and it can cost you your job, bl**dy compensation mentality.

Shipped 26/04 Swiss Post: a couple of tips and Black Copper Stingray which looks lovely and very well made, with matching numbers, slight differences in the colours of the design, don't know if done on purpose, but the 18650 tube is the lightest, then the 18350, with the 18500 looking much more coppery, came in a nice display box and a tip included, doesn't have any marking on tip though like the brass one does, Doesn't show up very well in the picture but the Top, bottom and locking ring are all chrome looking here's the piccy:

That has to be a record  My order arrived today and it was only shipped on the 16th, To say i was surprised is a big under statement.

Anyhoo now on to the problems with 2 of the items. First, the kayfun. When i went to put a nano micro in, the negative screw was tightened down so bloody hard geoff capes must have put it together :p The positive one was fine. I managed to get it loose though with some pliers, but what a pain it was.

So managed to get a lovely coil in, 8 wraps of 30 gauge around a syringe needle, 1.2 ohms. vaping lews brew right now, and i am still getting that fastech taste, which i can never fully get rid of, no matter how i clean them. But i know that will go after around half a tank, so i am well chuffed with the vapour it is producing.

Now the 2nd and biggest problem. The bellwether mod, will not fire at all. i have tried all my batteries in it and i am getting nowhere with at all. It is like the tubes are too short, even with flat tops, when tightened down their is a gap either at the top or bottom of the mod.

In other words, it won`t tighten flush. So i have opened a ticket with them with the view of returning it, It`s a shame really cos it is a really nice looking mod. Bob, am i correct in thinking you ordered a bellwether ???

First of all sorry I disappeared last night, I couldn't get back on the forum last night, kept getting error messages, so gave up :(

Great thing about someone else's kids, you can give them back at the end of the day  Seriously though, if I ever visited a relative when I was a young 'un, I wasn't allowed to touch anything, I had to even ask to go to the loo. We had values like that instilled in us from an early age. We'd still play up if we had the chance, but I always knew my limits as well as the consequences if I got caught

Sounds like the claim process should be pretty straight forward then Trisha.

The notice about the shipment from FT, means that the shipping company has been informed by FT that they have a parcel for them to process. But to be honest, the notifications tend to be delayed a little, meaning the shipping company probably already have the parcel and are processing it. As Terry says, the next notice will be that the parcel is on the plane :D

It's terrible now Bob - re complaints. The number of people ringing up saying the driver didn't stop for me, must be at least 10 or more per day and that's just for my Depot :( The good thing is though, with all this CCTV on buses, the manager checks it and finds 99% of the time that the complainant was either :

Too busy talking on the mobile to put their hand out.
Was on the other side of the road.
Was in between two bus stops on a non hail and ride section.
Got to the stop two minutes after the bus had already left.

It just annoys me that people these days will complain and as you say, risk the driver getting "tea and biscuits" when the driver wasn't at fault. The joys of dealing with the great British public

Bloody quick that mate, is it cos you're a special customer

With the bellwether, I know it's an obvious one, but have you screwed out the screw in the switch, so that when you press the switch it makes contact with the bottom of the battery ?? It looks like it's got quite a thick delrin washer in the switch assembly, so this could be a sticking point. The delrin may even be stopping the switch fully making contact with the bottom of the battery. Just my thoughts by looking at the pics for the mod mate :)

I just had a small unrelated package from the US and that took a week, so however long it takes is fine :)

First of all sorry I disappeared last night, I couldn't get back on the forum last night, kept getting error messages, so gave up :(
I've had a few times when it's happened in the past couple of days.

Great thing about someone else's kids, you can give them back at the end of the day  Seriously though, if I ever visited a relative when I was a young 'un, I wasn't allowed to touch anything, I had to even ask to go to the loo. Yes, we always had to behave in someone else's house, and so did our own sons.

Sounds like the claim process should be pretty straight forward then Trisha.

Hopefully the claim will work out OK - it's all packaged and ready for collection tomorrow.
The camera and macro lens I got to replace them are working fine - just got the lens today. The camera is the next model up from the one I had, so once I start taking proper care with photos and editing, I should see even better images!
If the insurance company decide to repair my broken camera and lens, I'll sell them when I get them back.

The FT packages will be something to look forward to! :)

It just annoys me that people these days will complain and as you say, risk the driver getting "tea and biscuits" when the driver wasn't at fault. The joys of dealing with the great British public
Yes, they can be a species to be avoided!

Tomorrow, we're getting the distribution panel replaced and all the electrics tested, some sockets upgraded etc., so we could be without electricity for up to 5 hours tomorrow from around 11am. The electrician has a generator apparently, so if he can keep my computer and a kettle going I'll be happy enough!
Making sure all my batteries are charged tonight! ;)

I have indeed, it may come by Thursday if today's arrival is anything to go by, otherwise I won't see it until I get back at the end of the month, hope mine is not the same, but probably will be.

TBH with you bob they are crap. Even my flat top 18350`s, which are the smallest i have in length are too bloody long which means i can`t screw the tube fully together.

Yep i tried that Ian (no difference) My main gripe other than the fact it won`t fire is, when a battery is in it won`t fully screw down together, and looks bloody stupid.

I`ve opened a ticket now anyway ian, so i think i will shoot it back.

Yes, it was from FT, I've also got too much, but can't resist another good bargain, but I am starting to get a bit picky now, just ordered the Hana Modz DNA 20 from FT and am in the queue for a Touchwood.

Good point about the bellweather, I've noticed on quite a few mods that the bottom contact is not always screwed down properly either, the Stingray one was loose this morning, I've got into the habit of taking them all apart, then putting them back together again.
Don't know if I mentioned about the Bolt mod that I got from FT, they said it would be delayed due to a fault and sent separately, but it turned up in the package anyway, well the so called replacement also turned up but was knackered, the threads were poor and the top contact wasn't even glued in, so it went in the bin, the one that was supposed to be faulty had nothing wrong with it that I could see, except a slight colour diff on the 18500 to 18650 ring.

I remember one incident, couple of 14 year olds, giving me grief on the train, when we got to Weybridge (end of line), one of them got quite mouthy so I stuck my face right into his, and gave him a verbal what for, then escorted him out of the station, when I got back on my next trip he was still there complaining that I had hit him, over on the other platform was a BTp copper so I called him over, told him what happened and what the kid had said, put a report in later, and they let me carry on, heard later that they had checked the CCTV and I was in the clear, also found out the same 2 had done this to another guard from our Depot, but because he hadn't reported it, he had been taken off duty and only allowed back after my incident had cleared him as well.

My FT order with all the nemmy tubes arrived in the UK yesterday, so it's getting closer :D

Very nice mate.
Did you get that from FT ?? I wouldn't mind the infinite version myself, but as Terry knows, I've got way too much stuff already

Yep i tried that Ian (no difference) My main gripe other than the fact it won`t fire is, when a battery is in it won`t fully screw down together, and looks bloody stupid.

I`ve opened a ticket now anyway ian, so i think i will shoot it back.

EDIT: BOB take note mate. I just popped the delrin insulator out of the firing switch and guess what ? The mod now takes, any of my batteries, closes up fully and fires up fine. It also doesn`t self fire when placed down, so there lies the problem with it. That insulator is just to thick, and prevents it from firing. Better close the ticket now. :p

I've had a few times when it's happened in the past couple of days.

The FT packages will be something to look forward to! :)

Making sure all my batteries are charged tonight! ;)

It's a pain when it happens Trisha, I get withdrawal symptoms if I don't get my regular dose of ECF

FT vapemail is something to look forward to.

I'd be lost without electric. Remember one year in our old house. I'd got my pizza in the oven, the British Grand Prix was just about to start and all our electrics went. Ended up knocking on my neighbours door pizza in hand "can I borrow your TV and cooker please, it's an emergency"

Superb batteries those Daz, I've got some already for the rare occasion that I venture below 1.0 ohm. A great buy though.

Nothing worse than a big gap in a mod :(

I've decided that my next big treat will be a hand carved wooden box mod, but it will be after my holidays before I buy it. There's a company I've found in America that hand makes the mods to order. You can choose from a variety of woods too so it's fully customizable.

Terry, that's what I meant about the delrin insulator, I had a feeling it was too thick. Glad you've sorted it out though mate :D

Yep completely removed it Ian. I will have a root in my toolbox tomorrow to see if i have got any of the rubber washers left, like the one i put in my chi you. Not that it`s needed, just peace of mind really.:)

That's what I was trying to describe in my earlier post mate, guess it didn't come across properly

I wasn't too sure if the centre of the delrin was too tight for the switch to pass through, or if the delrin was just too high, so the switch wasn't extending high enough when firing. But I had a feeling it was the delrin at fault. Main thing is, you've sorted it. Wht not just sand the delrin down a bit Terry, should be easy enough.

That is what i thought about doing Ian, sanding it down. but TBH it will be much easier just to put a washer in. The locking ring is weird as well on this mod, and took some working out. What you have to do is slide the ring down then twist it clockwise to lock. Had me scratching my melon for a while.
I need to rewick my dripper tomorrow. Just went to try out some of the modified juices, but it's not performing really well. Was hoping to tell you that the TH juices now taste amazing, no such luck though

I was really dissapointed with the TH juices Ian, bleeding awful for the money spent.:( Do you want this jamaican ginger mate ? It`s not to my taste.
