Big Brother

, don't get me started on the Telly, too many repeats, and why can't we have a dedicated Sports channel (run by both BBC & ITV) for all those who like it, so that the rest don't have to put up with it.
My sentiments exactly! Big Brother tripe, tennis, football, repeats, same old-same old fly on the wall boredom ....it's appalling! If I relied on TV to fill my evenings, I'd be furious!
No-one in our family are either football fanatics nor tennis fans, and it gladdens me to see other people like yourself say the same: why no sport channel!
Luckily not too much of that in the barbers, although with the change from barbers to unisex hairdresser it's probably just as bad these days.
Who knows ..I keep away!

You're right about them being expensive though.
Only one of those I know and read is Ludlum.
I've loved the Daniel Silva books - basically, the central character is a Mossad agent who's cover is that he's an accomplished art restorer. they have 'helpers' in other countries such as a London art dealer, and the stories are extremely well written. Best to start with his first one though! (all listed on his website)

This is the De Mille book that I found so good:
Nelson DeMille - The Charm School I must try another one or two of his books.
I've been fairly lucky with my Doc, she's very good, main problem is trying to get to see her, because everybody wants to see her, rather than any of the others in the group, I have an appointment for Tuesday about my Angina, booked 2 weeks ago. When I used to smoke, she never had a go at me, just used to ask every now and then if I was still smoking, so hoping she will be pleased with me now that I have quit.
I found the first doctor I could trust for a long time back in 94/95. He was great and totally understood my fears, and had great reception and nursing staff. Sadly, he retired and the practice was taken over by a bigger one. Awful receptionists like bulldogs!
This practice seems to put people on a conveyor and fill out tick box questionnaires, add up the score and issue a prescription for something either unnecessary or unwanted! I got a letter a week ago telling me that 'my hypertension review' was due! What hypertension review?
I don't have one - nor do I want one! I see the sister every 3-6 months and she checks things until next time. That's enough for me! They know better than try to give me statins and other drugs.
They seem to hold people to ransom: do this, take that and
then we'll sort out that which is killing you!

That's what my husband got when he went back about his forehead ...he got yet another type of statin pushed at him, and sure enough, like all the others, he got severe side effects from them (I put them down the toilet!) His forehead lesion was totally misdiagnosed!
The doctor we saw had been the old ones partner, but he's let both of us down ...and half the people who've seen him too! The Sister had also been with the old practice, and she's told us that there's now a lady doctor there, and just like yours, she's popular and very good at what she does! It's her we'll be asking to see if have the need!
They're all a bunch of Bankers (spelt that wrong)
Yes! ..and it's not 'bonkers' that you mean!
The only newspaper I read these days is the free "Metros" that we get on the bus in the morning, but I take most articles with a very big pinch of salt. No way I'm paying for a gutter press tabloid when I can read one for free - I'm tight like that
I either switch the TV on Sky or BBC news channel for a few minutes, or look on the Sky news website at lunch time to see what's happening ..and that's usually enough until 6pm.
Trisha, I really would highly
recommend you read The Lord of the Rings (big letters for extra emphasis)

It honestly is the greatest fantasy book ever written in my opinion. But be warned, it's a big book. The films are superb, but they really don't do the book justice. For me, a good book takes me to a totally different place. When I read, I have to have a quiet house with no interruptions. A good book totally engrosses me, so I forget about everything else around me. A great Author can describe a place or setting so well, that I can picture it in my mind. Last time I read Tolkien, I started at 10am and when I next looked up at the clock it was 6pm - that's how involved I get, I forget about eating, drinking, even going to the loo

That's how good the book is
I actually think there's a very good chance our younger son may have it - I'll ask him. If not, I'll get a copy and see how it goes.
I tend to work really late as you know, and that needs quiet uninterrupted time too! Thing is, for all I'll be tired at 2 or 3am, my brain is still ticking over at full speed, and if I don't read, I'll start thinking of all the woes, troubles, worries and past sadness's (they all creep in late at night if not careful!) So, I snuggle down with an extra pillow, read, and my mind switches off all but the book. Eventually my eyes start to close, so I just throw the pillow out, put the book down and switch the light off ..all without opening my eyes again - dead to the world until I get woken up
Saw the stingray set for £25, on FT it works out at about £22, so with my Paypal discount I got it for £15 and it will be here in less than a week - I call that a result. Plus I can use the Stingray with the Aqua in hybrid mode
Happy day!
