Try and get peameal bacon in the South...

Never mind real poutine, beaver tails, milk in a bag etc
I found some cheese curds the other day ( I'm in NC ), not even close to what I used to get from Canada though.

Hmmm Cheese curds... I always get a 3 or 4 bags from the Amish when I go up north. Anyone ever had a Glazier dog? Ummm So Goood. I bought 10 pounds last year when I went to upstate New York.
I thought you were a southern belle, not Amish !!!

I am but I used to go up to around Syracuse to visit my Gramma. Last year we took her ashes up there for a partial scatter and burial. I love Yankee food, so dadgum delicious!
Oh yeah, I remember that. As for Yankee food, a true Yankee is someone who's ancestors came here from the UK, back during Colonial days. Most of our descendants come from all over the world and our food reflects that.

Virginia born and raised, grandfather was a commercial fisherman on the Chesapeake bay! Fresh seafood is like nothing you get at most places anymore.

Used to go and help pull nets when I was a kid. Breakfast was whatever you wanted from the haul, trout, mackerel, croaker, spot, flounder etc! Freshly filleted, lightly battered and fried. Potatoes, corn cakes and as much bacon as you could eat all served on the way back to the dock! Those sights and smells are such a big part of my life. Makes me smile thinking about it!!
