I would like to strip some cigs and do a custom paint job. Make some really cool designs and all. I'm guessing it would need to be sanded down a little at the end in order to make it really smooth.. no, maybe just a clear finish would do that.

Well, I'm not familiar with painting outside of canvas and digital artwork, so I am really at a loss for what would produce the same quality smoothness.

Oh! And I will also need to know how to take apart the battery so I don't mess that up.. or do you think it would be simpler to just put some tape in the way? I'm sure someone here is has some good suggestions.

If you leave the original coating of paint on it, spray paint should work I would think. You make just want to sand the original paint down a bit so it's not so smooth. I don't know if spraypaint would adhere to a smooth layer of stainless steel though if you chose to do it that way. I would ask the people at your local hardware store or home depot/ace The spray paint should even out and give you a smooth finish even on top of the original sanded coat, but if not, maybe some polyurethane would do the trick.

Also, it would be a lot easier to just seal off the battery openings then trying to take the battery appart. If you have a dead atomizer, just screw that into the battery, (cover the holes in the atomizer first though, and cover the opening of the atomizer just to be safe).

Ordinary spray paint will chip very easily unless you use some polyurethane as a clear coat. Just rough up the factory finish with some fine paper and tape off all of the openings and connection points and go for it. I would love to see some custom paint jobs. In fact I might just try a few of my own for fun.
