Anyone really suprised that vaping is getting heavily regulated in many places?

My take is, everyone should at least understand that vaping is simply harm reduction as there has to be some dangers of inhaling vapor. I do believe the more vapor you intake, the more risk you are taking. Yes there are small mtl tanks that if over worked can have more bad stuff then bigger, airier sub ohm tanks, but If comparing safe limits of either, its basically the more you vape, the more potential for harm. If one really does believe that vaping is much safer then smokes, but not totally harmless, then you have to believe the more MLS you are vaping, the more potential for harm there is...with a perfect mtl set up, producing safe temps vaping let's say 5mls per day, has to be a safer option then vaping 25mls per day in a sub ohm tank....I still think the latter is much safer then smokes, so it's still a better option by far, but the intake of vapor , albeit much safer then cigs, has to be the same as smoking in that the more smoke someone consumes, the worse it is. I personally think its important for everyone to think this, because the more and more people dont want to admit this, the more its accepted that it doesn't matter how much you vape, it's all the same. With the belief that vaping 50mls per day is no different then 1ml per day, then new vapors or young vapors feel , why not buy a big ole device and vape all day, because it doesn't matter......I dont care how one vapes and certainly dont want bans of any type because vaping saves lives, but I do believe that there are many that start and truly believe that vaping is totally harmless and that they can chain vape all day as long as there is low to no nic in the juice and I dont think that is a good thing to believe

I have never, ever seen anyone "chucking clouds" inside a public place.

I see the "big cloud" more as legend than fact. There two reasons for regulation:
1. Taxation.
2. Power and control.
Both of these are rampant in society today.

i see your point, the main problem i have is people chucking big cloud's inside a public place causes us problems.
Who is "people"? Who is "us"?

The main problem I do have is people trying to say what others have or haven't to do. Who said making big clouds in public are bad, and make only tiny vapour is good? What's the base of that assumption?

That's my problem. People trying to live others lives instead of yours. So no, I don't believe people vaping in public is the problem. People looking at others instead of at themselves are the problem. Please, just look at the OP first post! What the hell is that?

The only places I've seen people vape like that are in vape shops, at the one "vape expo" I went to years ago, and very occasionally, outdoors, mostly coming from the window of a car. I don't see it as ever having been a problem for the average non-vaper out there.

I have seen people making big clouds and seemingly oblivious to the fact it's annoying a few people around them - not every day but its been known. For example - some guy filling up a semi enclosed bus shelter. Of course this is the UK so no one said anything, just gave him evil looks.

But I mean if he'd been chain smoking cigarettes he would have got the same reaction, so it's not like you can blame vaping for people being annoying

I can only speak for myself. So, I will. I don't give a rat's patootie what someone chooses to do to their own body. It is none of my business. It only becomes my business if their choices intrude on my own space. ie. your own individual liberty should only be limited when it begins to intrude on someone else's.

In my opinion THAT is the point the OP was trying to make. If someone is walking on the sidewalk or outside a store and chucks a huge cloud in someone else's space, THAT is when it stops being their own personal choice. They are intruding on someone else's liberty.

Regulation and the movement to regulate started long before big cloud gear was ever developed.
Regulation is not about big clouds or better health, but all about money losses, due to any vaping style.
Big pharma, government, big tobacco are losing money.

Not disagreeing with anything you said. But these are two different topics. One, why the government is banning vaping and the other, what vapers know about risk.

Honestly I’m pretty sure most vapers know more about the possibility of risk than our leaders, who don’t vape.

As with anything, I believe we ought to be able to do as we wish with our own bodies, risky or not, whether we understand the risk or not, as long as it’s not a threat to others.

We should be allowed to be vegan or eat nothing but frozen pizza. We should be allowed to drink ourselves to death, as long as we’re not doing anything that could harm someone else. Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness are our rights.

I don’t need anyone giving me a hard way to go about whether I use nic, how much flavoring, or how many mls I use. I mean, you don’t see me going around food shaming people, or handing out AA pamphlets to everyone who drinks one beer more than I do.

The government should step in only to save us from certain risks, where we should demand safety, like baby seats and car brakes and the thousands of toxic household cleaners that have never been tested and we all use thinking it must be okay or they wouldn’t sell it.

With food and alcohol and, presumably, vaping, we all ought to have some idea where the risks lie, and also be mature enough to decide if that’s a risk worth taking for ourselves.

Absolutely. Totally agree. But, I don't want to help them along by souring public opinion that doesn't need to be soured. All I am saying is that we need to be respectful of others. Nothing more than DJLSB says at the beginning of each of his videos.

I only see people blowing big clouds occasionally, most often when I'm having a vape myself outside a building. Sadly, their visibility makes them the "poster boys" of vaping to the general public. The majority of us go unnoticed.

The negative sentiment toward vaping has been nurtured for years by those who don't want their revenue stream affected by this healthier alternative. Emphasizing the few who chuck clouds publicly has helped their strategy designed to "regulate" vaping into a profitable corner for themselves.

Instead of logical age, packaging and safety regulations, this has fermented into outright bans in the US. Lies and fear can be used to sway the court of public opinion and to some degree visible clouds accelerated that con game IMO. Those who profit from smoking in America are getting what they want.

Totally agree with you. That's the classical definition of "liberty", that one that spouses classic Liberalism. But, see, by this definition if you make large clouds or tiny little vapour doesn't matter so much, right? If you're at my side and I don't want your vapour, it doesn't matter if it is big is tiny. So, in this regard, the only possible solution is don't vape at all, which I guess no one here will accept, because in this case others liberty will kill my own. That's a very complicated matter, one that Social Scientists are debating for decades now, with no easy solution.

Unfortunately my experience vaping in public has been to get the same reaction as I would get having a smoke. Nasty looks, bad vibes, disapproval etc. And I'm not blowing huge clouds (like why bother, imo).
Even if I'm using my Aspire mtl rig on the street, it's still looked at with suspicion pretty much.I sub ohm at home since I use max VG and don't need the negative attitude, even if I exhale at the sky to avoid folks.

I get OP's frustration since we're essentially being judged as a collective as vapers. Kids are gonna do what they think is cool whatever, but unfortunately the gov is going to use those teen vaping scares to tar us with that brush.
It's a really crappy situation and it makes me dizzy going around in circles about this!

I do see the cloud chucking in public, not often, but it sure is a spectacle when I see it. There is a certain sub-culture whose objective is to have people notice their big clouds. I can see where it draws a similar ire as when I used to smoke cigars in public. I learned where I could and couldnt.

I also agree with Nancy, vaping at any level is often frowned up by many non-smokers. They lump the two together in the same disgust.

I will also say that I have never gotten any dirty looks except one time when I was sitting on a bench in a public park. When in a public place like a restaurant or whatever I try to be considerate of those around me. I might still vape, but seldom do those around me even realize it.

It really is very similar to when I smoked cigars. Do it in the wrong place, or inconsiderately, and many non-smokers/vapers people will frown upon it.

As for the OPs judgement that only small (lower power) mods are reasonable, I think that is just as close minded as those non-smokers that scorn us. To each their own vape, but as in all things in life, do be considerate of others.

It’s a tough situation since they scorn smokers and vapers alike; and acting like you don’t care and being all in their face doesn’t help things either. You’re right, it’s better to be considerate since we’re “representing” other vapers. And the people that give us the bad vibes don’t realize what we went through to quit smoking. When I did smoke, I used to give people the finger when they said something nasty about smoking. But I’m way nicer about it now with vaping, since I don’t want anyone to be able to bad mouth vapers and possibly support bans etc.
Any rig can attract negativity if some shmoe doesn’t like it. People are anti smoking now in a big way, and even a tootle puffing low wattage mtl vape can attract attention, if someone sees it.

Any pierogis where you are? ;)

But if you sub ohm with a high VG liquid, you’ll make a decent amount of clouds imo. I’m not chasing clouds or anything, but my rigs put out a fair amount of vapor, which is why I use them at home. Someone like Rip Trippers blowing these huge dense clouds is not a great poster boy for vaping (or reviewing! lol)

And I keep pondering for an answer to the unfathomable unquantifiable objection, the elephant in the room that keeps wanting to sit on us at the behest of friend and foe — Where's the harm?

When I was a kid most like me were happy to share. There always seemed to be some snot though that sure as shootin' wanted the tree swing every time someone else got on it.

    Which one are you?

My rights end where your's begin.

I'm not responsible for other people's perspectives or emotions. However, I certainly will be concerned and suitably engaged…when such harms me. Accordingly I avoid such trouble where and if possible. It's reasonable for me to do so. But not if it comes looking for me.

Then it's that snot lookin' for a swing. The one I'm holdin' back.

    Don't be that kid.

Please understand, it's not about what, how or whether you swing but controlling your ability to make the decision.

    Good luck. :)

Jesus, thanks God I don't live in wherever place do you live, guys. Here is not the best country in the World, but definitely there's not so many people pointing fingers to others all the time. You know, here we use to go away when something or somebody pisses us off. Smokers, vapers... we normally know what to do, when to do and where todo. So much easier, this used to be the definition of civilization.
