Anyone remember when a "starter kit" was actually for beginners?

I honestly think that these devices--or the next generation of them--will get a lot of smokers to try vaping. Enough to really change the market.

They're met with contempt by a lot of the hobbyist element among us, but they really are the no fuss setups the lazy wannabe ex-smoker would go for.

I've got a $19 Kanger Tech EVOD Pro (V1) that works like a charm, and a $25 Vaporesso Aurora that looks beat to Hell and back because I carry it to work every day in my pocket to use as a stealth vape.

A device listed on this page started me on vaping (ego AIO) and it worked well enough for me to know vaping would work. I don't look down on them at all, things like this are a good place for smokers to experience vaping without becoming overwhelmed.

I'm going to start buying pod-style kits to help people quit. The iCare 140 looks promising - no variables, nothing but a tank and a replaceable atomizer.
Please be kind and provide your victims with a pack of napkins or tissues to wipe the mess from their mouths. ;)

I remember when I started vaping 5 years ago, everything was MTL. Sub ohm wasn't even thought of. Lowest coils we would vape was 1.5. Heck when I started, my first setup was an ego with a clearomizer that held 3ml. We had only vaping 11V max on the 1.5 coil now I'm vaping a ,3 dual coil at 10.5V.

I'm with you. I still use evods and protanks often. With COPD I just can't do high watts and DL stuff. You can still find Istick 40w (even a few 20w and 30w) and a nautilus tank. For really simple. try an istick basic(but get an extra tank).

Although i do dtl inhales, i do enjoy vaping on my trusty nautilus and tritton sometimes tbh. First one has a .7 0hm coil the other a 1.8 i believe, both are used in both inhalation types, but it's easier for me in the morning vaping these 2 rather than my big baby rba or my fat scylla that both have a .5 0hm coil or lower (baby rba is at .35) i enjoy bigger clouds but not for the fun, mostly because it satisfies my nicotine needs better and i think it has better taste :p
But overall i do understand why some rather keep doing dtl inhales

This resonates with me since I recently took up vaping again after falling off the wagon for a couple years. I used to use mech mods and rbas and stuff but what I really needed to do was quit smoking so I picked up one of those "starter kits" thinking this must be the 2017 version of the protank. Ha! At first I was mightily impressed even though the juice I bought was way to strong for a subohm tank. After dialing down the nic, though, I realized I was really struggling to stay away from the smokes. All this huffing and puffing just doesn't feel like smoking. It tastes good but it wasn't doing it for me. Not to mention the *huge* internal battery in my spiffy new mod isn't really so huge at all vaping at 70+ watts. I was reminded of the days when I'd change the 18650's in my mech mod every 30 minutes - the more things change, the more they stay the same, lol.

So I picked up a Pico and a Nautilus 2 and man, am I happy with that set-up. Great flavor (not the overwhelming saturation you get by sub-ohming exotic coils, of course), great throat hit, great battery life. The .7ohm coils are *nice*. Now *this* feels like an improvement over the ego twist vs something entirely different.

After doing even more research, though - there are tons of great, tiny devices out there. Some of them even non-regulated like the mi-one - which is tiny but hits like an eqo-twist/clearomizer combo on steroids. It has a built in 1100 mah battery . .the same size that used to be in the BIG ego twist . like the 9 incher or whatever, lol.
We have more and better choices now than ever before - but that may not be the greatest thing for the person who wants to quit and picks up a "starter kit" with specs that would've had the nanny-police breaking out in cold sweats a few years ago.

I just ordered a Pico with Mello III tank for my cousin to get her off the stinkies. My brother is still a beginner after 2 years and counts on me to pick his tanks and mods. He is just not that interested in learning anything about vaping, he just wants a simple, easy set-up to keep him off of tobacco. He started on my older setups with clearomizers but now he has a Cuboid with Cubis tank that he is very happy with. Today I came across an old ego battery with a Just Fog cleoromizer and I set it up and handed it to him and he used it all day, he loved it. Sometimes simpler is better especially for beginners.

The 110, 140, and 160 all spit and gurgle. The ic 1.1 coil. The 140 tip has a twist in the inside of the drip tip. Might help..

Talk to someone who has one of the 3 before you buy. They all have that tiny coil with a tiny strip of wick material. Spits and gurgles most of the time. My wife and I both had 160's. Gave them away after two days to friends, but warned them first. I think they both threw them away.

It's really that bad, huh? I've read and watched some reviews, most say the spiral tip works well to prevent it as opposed to the smaller iCares.
Now I'm thinking I might just go with EVOD sets, I'm highly proficient with those already.

Yeah I went kinda apesshhhtuff over the original iCare 650. Had 4 of them and was quite happy to pif them all away. They also had a baffle in the tip that prevented the direct spitting of hot juice on your tongue. But still the juice is gonna build up in the chimney and tip until Ya start drawing it thru with your puff.

Evods would be a good choice. Better yet would be the eGo ONE kits. Can still be found for under $10 on clearance they offer airflow control and with the optional CLR coils would offer the newbie the option of rewicking or rebuilding as well as juice flow control. If not interested in doing that the CLR is still the best performing coil available for the eGo ONE and @ less than $8 a 5pk they can just toss 'em if they want.

Like many, I started with a cigalike. If a quality pod system had been around and I found that first, I probably never would have advanced beyond it. It was the fact the cigalike was pretty crappy in taste and expense that made me look for something better. Then I found this place and caught viral shinyitis. I really need better antivirus software.;)
