I'm just wondering if there is anyone who switched from a 510 to a 901 and why?

I have a 510 and an 801. The 510 is the only one I really use. I have tried several times to adjust to the 801, but it has a strong plastic taste (even using the same juice as my 510), plus I tend to get a mouthful of liquid on a regular basis. I'm wondering if the plastic taste is from the whistle-tip.

I have no experience with the 901. I see that it appears to get very good reviews here, so am I missing something by not using that? Is there any significant difference between the 510 and the 901?

I'm not looking to ditch my 510. I've noticed that several members have a variety of PVs, and before I add to my 510 arsenal, I'm wondering if I should invest in a 901 instead.

Hey fresca, I get the same plastic taste from the 801 soft-tips. IMO they are the pits. I have several hard tips from earlier 801's that I use instead. The 801 carts need to be pulled apart daily, least ways I need to. Wipe off the white section, blow out and wipe out the tip. Do that and don't flood the at, always use a charged batt and you'll greatly reduce the liquid in the mouth.

I carry a 510 and a 901 every day for my away-from-the-barca vaping. I rotate them, 2 or 3 drags off of one, couple off the other, so on. Again IMO, you should invest in a 901 at some point. I really think it has it's place in a vapers arsenal!

I don't own a 510, I am a 910/401 vaper.

The 901 I own is my primary vape while I use my 401 for flavor and social occasions.

The rap on the 510 I hear is the battery life, some say 30 minutes to an hour at worst. Vapor production and throat hit is reported to be superior to the 901. If you are not having battery problems don't switch just to switch. Some say the flavor on the 901 is better than the 510, depends on the liquid.

Could go either way there. Sorry I'm not more helpful.

Electronic Ash for one but all over really. Actually I thought the soft tips were the hard ones to find.

Thanks, I'll check em' out. That is funny how it can go though, I get the soft tips and hate em'. S'pose I should ask first the next time out.

Thank you! I'm still vacillating on it. I appreciate all the replies -- it helps to understand the subtle differences between products.

I have a 901 and a 510 and the 510 is by far my favorite. The 510 produces more vapor, has MUCH more throat kick, no battery cut off, the draw is more like an analog, and it has a manual switch. I was just comparing flavors between the 901 and 510 last night and they were just about even. The 901 may produce slightly more flavor, but they are very, very close.

Battery life on the 901 is better, but I get 1.5 to 4 hours out of the 510 battery depending on how much I vape. The 901 just isn't as satisfying as the 510 because the throat kick is maybe 1/3 of the 510 and the draw is much lighter on the 901.

The 901 is by no means bad(well except for the 5 sec. cut off and sticking pressure switches), the 510 is just better:).

I started with the 901, then I got the 510, now I am back on the 901.

the carts on the 510 leak and the atomizer does not last long (for me).. The 510 atomizer only lasted a month , while the 901 atomizers lasted like ~3 months.

I like the 510 alot, but as a backup.

so I am currently on 901.

I've had the exact opposite experience. I'm still on my first Dura C atomizer after 3 months while in that same time I've gone through about 4 901 atomizers. I now use my Dura C with a PCC when I'm on the go and a homemade manual passthrough with my 901 at home. I'm happy with the performance of both setups but the Dura C/501 gets my vote on the road even with leaking carts (at times) and limited battery life (solved with PCC).

Is there not a manual battery available for the 901? ....

They are on the way. I understand the 1st ones may not be sealed though. I did get 2 of the new manual batts for the 801, and they do work very well. Bad side is they aren't sealed and they do have a 5/6 sec cutoff.

i loved the 501 i tried, yet it isn't earth shatteringly different than a 901. An 801 with a hard tip has SOO much cart capacity, that with the right attys, it really rules alot of the others. If i need a manual battery i will use my Puresmoker passthrough(801)coming tomorrow or my Prodigy(coming too):D

You know, I got a PT for my 801, and it does nothing. Well, it lights up and I get a teeny tiny bit of vapor... so I guess it does close to nothing. I can't remember where I got it (I need to look through receipts), but before I return/exchange it, I want to try it with a ... oh what are they called? It's like a USB thingy, but you plug it in the wall. One of those things. I'm wondering if it's just not able to pull any strength from my PC.

My 510 PT works just fine... when I can find it.

You will likely find that anyone who switched from a 510 to a 901 had their hubby grab the best one and hide it.

A big hint. If you think your 901 is better than a 510 just try to trade a 510 owner out of one for a 901. I have nothing against 901s in the slightest, but they simply do not compare across the board with a 510 -- not even close.
