You could possably use it instead of the wire if you wraped it around some wick....but it would take a lot of energy to heat it up... maybe 8volts+ amps. I was talking to my dad about this idea and he says its not very pratical... but I would still like to try it if I could find some thsts priced well.

It's a dead in the water concept because of the price. Where my brain was going (and it goes a lot of directions) was this:

1. In a genesis atomizer you could use nichrome mesh instead of SS and set it up exactly the same, except you don't oxidize the wick because it's resistive and could be a 'part' of the coil. The reason you oxidize ss is because, while not super conductive, it's still more conductive than the resist wire and electricity takes the path of least resistance, i.e. the mesh if it can which makes the electricity bypass the rest of your coil. By using nichrome mesh you would be creating a wick that had higher resistance than the coil itself and therefore the electricity would pass along the coil. If the resistance properties of the mesh were such that it was still more conductive than your coil you could just reduce the number of coil syou use and part of the mesh would act as a coil as well as a wick. Would have taken some tweaking.

2. removing the coil and just using the mesh as the heating element. This lead to alot of design ideas flooding my tiny brain and making me want a rum drink. One of which was a feeder mod that had a small wick of nichrome mesh trapped between two posts and a syringe that feeds the mesh wick/element. Other ideas were based off the thread from a while back about using SS Mesh as a heating element, the idea died off because of difficulty in getting consistant resistance levels out of SS mesh and the heat fusing the SS wires eventually.

Ultimately its a non starter, nichrome and other resist wire mesh is just too expensive.
