Glad to hear that about the 1.5 ohm coils. I'm probably going to order some. My Nano has quickly become my go-to tank... I just swap my ni200 coils with the OCC coils (newer ones, now) when I can't carry around a large TC mod and put the one I'm not using in a clean pill bottle. Probably going to use the 1.5 ohm for MTL hits and swap three coils back and forth.

OK, so Vape Super Saver had the packs of 0.5 ohm vertical coils in stock for a few hours today before Tom sold out. He should have them back in stock tommorow (6/17). $13.99 for a single pack of five, $13.49 each for two packs, $12.99 for three or more packs. Any order over $15 has free shipping, too. Keep checking back. With shipping in mind, it's cheaper than Sweet-Vapes offers at a flat $12.95 per pack, plus a few bucks for domestic shipping. Their 0.5 ohm coils are still out of stock too, btw.

Ok, so after a solid week of using nothing but the new vertical coil in my Nano (and about 60-70 ml of juice, quite conservatively), the wire in my FIRST vertical coil still looks brand new and shiny... SHINY!!! The wick looks like it's seen better days (but pretty damn nice, to tell the truth), but the coil vapes like it's brand spankin'new. Keep in mind that I'm vaping a 100% VG, custom NET concoction with nine separate tobacco extracts and 6mg of WTA. No artificial anything. It's DARK (extra flavor, of course), naturally sweet from the types of tobacco I macerated, and THICK. This coil had no issues with 100% VG at 45 watts, all week long... I didn't even thin it with any distilled water. And it still looks new. Did I mention that it's actually still completely shiny? The old OCC coils would look like a matted, congealed mass of black, sugary death already... and the new coil laughs and points its figurative finger at my coil killing juice, still firing like it's fresh from the box. "Bring me something more formative: this foe was not worthy of my presence...", it says...

I'm quite impressed.

I would say definitely so. I usually use my Nautilus mini for MTL Stealth vaping, and have since moved to my new Subox kit with the 1.5 coils. Phenomenal. Genuinely phenomenal. Comfortable, flavorful, dense, exactly what I would want from them.

I just got some 1.5 vertical coils and have been raving about them in the new members forum. And I hated all the other pre-made subtank coils (1.2 and 0.5 horizontal) I tried before. These are more than good enough to semi-retire my Nautilus mini and not be in such a desperate hurry for aspire triton stock to be widely available.

Apparantly, at lower wattage settings, the older coils perform a little better. Makes sense since the wicking holes are HUGE.

Just wanted to note that this seems to be the case for me. I use the Subtank Nano on the Ego One, with 0.5ohm OCCs. Just got the new VOCC coils and have noticed the vapour quality is down when compared to the original OCCs. Seems the Ego One doesn't have enough power for the new VOCCs.

Anyone else had similar experiences?

Absolutely, was just thinking of going back to the horizontal OCC on the Ego One. Unless fully charged, doesn't seem as if the Ego can put out enough watts/voltage for the new vertical coils.

The Subox comes with a 1.5 ohm coil which was completely useless in my experience, the 0.5 one was good until I wiped the top part with a Q tip and put it back together without dripping juice in it, one attempted dry hit and the thing was ruined. RBA since then. Who wants to shell out $5+ for each of these things?

I'm confused -- I get a burnt taste at 20 W on the vertical coils in the subtank plus with any juice I try. I can get it to go a little higher than 20 but I have to inhale really fast to make a lot of suction, pulling more juice in, or dripping a few drops through the tip. Am I doing something wrong?

On a side note, I seem to get better performance than the vertical coils when I push the cotton inside the holes on the horizontal coils so that a lot more juice gets in.

I'm in the same boat as you. I use an Eleaf 50w with a Subtank Mini and both 0.5Ω and 1.2Ω horizontal coils. I have only tried the vertical coils in 1.2Ω. I usually use max VG juice and vape between 17-25 watts. The vertical coils are horrendous for what I'm doing. I got nothing but burnt hits on the verticals so I am rationing my horizontal coils. It looks like the horizontal coils are getting phased out so I'm going to have to get a different brand tank. If someone could tell me and no_you what we're doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated. I initially thought that I just had a bad coil, but I've tried 10 now and they've all been terrible for what/how I vape. I'd really like to know why.

1. Take a straight pin and put a hole or two through juice holes on the side of the housing all the way through vertical coils to the other side. Cotton may be packed too tight.

2. Must your wattage be at that level?

3. You can use same housing of vertical coils to recoil and wick horizontal coils.

4. If you've got any ProTank 2 coils laying around, they can be used especially if you rebuild them too.

Hope this helps. :)

have been using the 1.5 ohm vocc coils for a few weeks now and they are realy good got a couple of packs from Fasttech

although they look like they are all one piece solid body shell

when i put one on my subtank mini base i nipped it down fairly tight with my fingers and the outer shell turned and closed the juice holes down so i twisted it a bit more 180 degrees to get juice holes to line up and full open again and realized if you twist and pull the whole outer section actualy comes off to reveal an inner section with the juice holes and two vertical slots

in reality this makes the actual coil easier to rebuild than trying to rebuild a vertical coil into the older shells that have the removable top cap

not sure if they are all built like this but its worth a try when ya vocc coil dies if it has the one piece looking shell

have not rebuilt one yet but they look a lot easier than the videos on youtube for vocc rebuilds( older style)

give it a try when ya coil dies if you are into rebuilding the occ coils "just screw down fairly tight and pull up on the outer shell and it should come off pretty easy" no need for grips or pliers like seen in the first style two piece shell

I use .5ohm coils and it wore out so all i had was a 1.2 and it was like SUCKING IN GASOLINE PRIMED WITH FIRE-then i was told to lower the watts......went all the way down to 9-10 and it SUCKED...........went and got another .5 coil...........primed it..........started at 10w........then 18........then 22.....just go up gradually-my sweet spot was 30

The .5 vertical coils are really impressive, compared to the 1st gen. I have mine set between 30-40 watts usually, and the flavor speaks for itself. No dry hit, awesome taste. The new 1.5 is really great too. I switch between the 2 a lot, running the 1.5 at around 15-20 watts. But, for the ones referring to the 1.2 coils, they're still horizontal. So more burn, less wattage, and ultimately less flavor.

I do this with the horizontal coils before I use them. The cotton on the verticals seems to be packed even tighter so I tried this, as well as fanning a tad bit of cotton out of the holes.

2. Must your wattage be at that level?

No. I'd vape all the way up to 50 (max on my mod) as long as it provided good flavor that isn't too hot. I vape at the wattage I use because anything higher usually results in a burnt taste. A couple things that I've noticed is that I seem to have better luck at higher watts when using a lower resistance coil and a high quality juice such as Charlie's Chalk Dust or Fuzion Vapors.

3. You can use same housing of vertical coils to recoil and wick horizontal coils.

I'm just starting to get into messing with rebuilding coils, basically so I can keep using the horizontal coils until I figure out a better solution.

4. If you've got any ProTank 2 coils laying around, they can be used especially if you rebuild them too.

I do not. The only other tank I have used is an Aspire Nautilus mini, I think. I despised that tank but also hate throwing things away so I still have it. It's cracked and the airflow is horrendous. I'm actually using it now as I'm currently messing with the coils on the Subtank. It doesn't leak even though it's cracked, but it's like trying to suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

I've been vaping for a long time; started off on an old Lavatube. With that said, I never got into the intricacies of doing it right. I underestimated how in-depth things can get. Making matters even more difficult is the fact that the hardware has changed so much in such a short time...it's hard for me to comprehend how much everything has changed for the better since I started out.

To avoid a tl;dr, I will wrap this up. I've recently found myself more interested in getting the best vaping experience I can. That involves a lot of time, a bit of money, and the help of people that are willing to take the time to answer questions, such as yourself and others here. I'm 100% confident that my issues are user error and not equipment related. Tons of people vape on the same stuff I do and can vape 50w with no burnt flavor. I'll get it right eventually.

Hope this helps. :)

It did. Thank you for taking the time to respond :)

Edit- Reply fail, still learning this forum. In case it gets missed, I responded individually to each question in the quote. Sorry about that.

Yuk..............until i know how to use a coil other than .5 i wont touch em
i used the 1.2 in my kanger subox and it was HORRIBLE at low and high watts

I used to think that the 1.2's were better, but after messing around some more, I like the lower resistant coils a lot more. I can vape at higher watts with a lot better flavor. Now I need to try the 0.5's in the vertical style, since most everyone seems to like the vertical build a lot more.
