I just bought a 5 pack of 1.5 ohm vertical coils and I've never been so disappointed and deceived since I began to vape 4 months ago.

I tried all voltages you could think of but these damn vertical coils keeps throwing an awful taste into my throat that keeps on burning my throat during hours after I stop to vape and this burning sensation I'm talking about isn't because of a too high power because I never used more than 15 watts of power.

Before I bought my Subtank Mini kit I was using an Aspire kit which wa only using vertical coils and I had so much troubles with these vertical coils that I happily threw it to the garbage when I bought my Kangertech kit

I have been happy with my Kangertech kit as long as I've bewn using Horizontal coils.

However I'm very unhappy since I began to use a Vertical coil

My throat is still burning very strong an hour and a half after the last puff I caped, so the pleasure to vape is not there anymore.

Of course, I took care to prime it thoroughly before to take the first puff and I took all the precaution you could think of but I never had been able to get a single puff that didn't burned me into the throat.

Unfortunately, i don-t have the slightest idea about what I could have been doing wrong if I did something wrong.

The last time I tried, I pushed a needle from one side to the other in the center of the cotton and it seemed to have enhanced the taste a lot but my throat was making me suffering too much to really be able to be sure of what I was tasting. So; I will wait a bit longer before to try again and tell you the results

This may not be what you want to hear but....
I was good with the STM and the coil heads for about two weeks into vaping. Then I started getting muted flavor, gunked up burnt tasting coils. Paying that price for the replacement heads still seemed ok at first because I wasn't smoking. Then I broke out the RBA for the tank, watched two videos on wicking, and went for it. I still have four occ heads just gathering dust with no regrets.

Technocris, your sore throat could be due to (1) too much pg in your juice (2) not enough water drinking or (3) too much nicotine. When I and others started using the Subtank mini, had to reduce our nicotine level as the tank is much more efficient than what we had been using. I went from 6 to 3 nic.

A "heads up" for those who are disappointed in the vertical OCC coils. Found elsewhere on the Forum (Enaud's posts) that you can use the Aspire NON- Nautilus "Replacement" vertical coils in the Subtank mini which I have done with great success. The Replacement coils are much shorter that the Nauty's coils.

Since I had some of these coils on hand from last Jan. to use in another application, gave it a go. Did nothing but screw the coil in the base and screw the base on. The air shaft is narrower than the coil and sits on top lip of the coil housing. The shaft does not enter the coil housing. It fits tight enough not to leak in the week or so I've been using them.

So here we go, people! Ta dah!! Multiple options on coil heads. Enjoy!

1. The Subtank OCC (vertical and horizontal) coils. (I save housing and rebuild horizontal)
2. The RBA
3. ProTank 2 coils (info from Taxguydave and can be built too)
4. Aspire Non Nauty "Replacement" vertical coils (I purchased these from My Freedom Smokes last Jan.)

I've heard of this before with those coils . I use an Arctic tank with 0.5 ohm occ coils and have never had a problem. The one I'm on now has been going over five weeks and i'm a heavy vaper. Maybe you should try one of these.
Best of luck to you. Vape on

I'm an heayvy vapor to and I've been vaping a lot on the coils included in the kit box with no problems. Both coils had been used during seral weeks with almost no problems.

I loved to vape so much with these horizontal coils that it convinced me that vertical coils were not better than ....t.

I had so much problems with my previous vaping kit, an Aspire Nautilus Mini with vertical coils, than I considered myself to be is heaven with my Kangertech Subtank Mini with horizontal coils.

As a matter of fact I would never have bought Kangertech VOCC if the vaping store where I buy my stuff wouldn't had been out of stock for the horizontal coils.

-------------

The juice I'm using is always a mix of several juices but most of the time they are 2/3 of 50/50 and 1/3 of 80/20 which gives a 60/40 concentration as a result and the nicotine is always only 5.

I drank a lot more than usual during the time I used my first Vertical coil.

I must admit that I have a very sensitive throat, so, I can't withstant to vape at high temperature as well as I can't withstand strong flavors.

Therefore, I'm always vaping at low voltages and I'm always trying to use flavors that are very sweet and soft with almost no sensation in the throat.

I even have the tendancy to underdrive my coils with lower voltages than suggested in order to increase the sweetness of the taste.

Actually, I'm using a 1.5 ohm Vertical coil driven at 4.8 volts and I'm beginning to feel the taste a little harsh.

I use a brand new 1.5 ohm Vertical coil now and I drive it at 4.8 volts and I'm beginning to feel the taste a little harsh. SO, I tried to lower the voltage down to 4.4.volts but it was worst.

So, instead to lower the voltage I increased it to 5.4 volts in order to see how it would be and it felt a lot better with no harsh taste anymore, so, I kept it this was.

But it really makes me wonder what is the best way to use these new Vertical coils made by Kangetech.

Is it better to run them and low voltages or at high voltages if someone want to make big clouds of vapors while feeling a tiny sweet and very soft taste at the same time.

I know that it's a bit contradictory but I like to vape exactly like I used to smoke before.

I have a Kanger Subtank with an itaste 3.0 box mod and have been using the vertical coils 1.5 ohm for the last few months and they last way longer than the horizontal ones. To keep the center of the coils free of gunk buildup, when I fill up I break a toothpick in half and use the wide end through the coil. This is the best design change they've ever made. Now a single coil lasts me weeks.
