Hi there,
I have two 605 E-pipes I bought at christmas after my DSE601 decided it wouldn't give me a hit when the cartridge was inserted (only when dripping!). I can honestly say that i love these pipes by comparison. They give a monstrous amount of smoke and the battery lasts quite a while too. I would estimate about 30 long puffs on it a day for around 2 and a half days before the output gets to the stage where you need to prime-puff (two or tree small puffs before a long inhaling puff). This indicates its charging time. It does however take 6 hours to charge so that was my main reason for buying two (wasn't going to chance the analogues getting the better of me!).
It uses a special connection between the cartomizer and the pipe itself, around 7.5 - 8 mm diamter, with what looks like 4 screw threads deep that I have yet to find on the internet, and the wholesaler I bought these from have no information for me but I know it is a male connection (I want to see if I can get a
tank on it somehow!) I am in the process of making my own e-pipe (carved the bowl a few weeks ago, now looking around for the best electronics) and am going to go for a churchwarden style (long) curved stem I will fashion from clay and a metal inner tubing that will allow me to have a hole through the center, and I want to use something like this cartomizer if i can.
This iteration of the E-pipe has a built in battery, which is just another way, in my honest opinion, of making you have to replace the bowl, in the same way as the atomizer was built in on the 601 model. So for me that is a negative.
The draw is very easy, nearly no resistance at all. The overall size is slightly smaller than the DSE601. I have the version that doesn't have a button, and this may prove a drawback if any
e-liquid gets into the electronics in the future.
Throat hit is monstrous. I just bought some peanut butter, coffee and honey e-liquids and they are all at 26mg strength and they are giving me a biggest throat hit I have had using them in the 605 than in anything else!.
I have been using the pipe for about a month so only time will tell if it matches the 601's lifespan (for me it was 4 months, and still works if I drip), however the 605 battery is rated at 300 recharges and a quick calculation (300 x 2.5 days) gives a lifespan that should (looks both ways for oncoming hindsight) give a lifespan of 2.05 years!!.
It would probably never happen as the manufacturers would see a loss in profits but if they came up with the same design but with a removable battery AND replaceable atomizer/cartomizer i would buy it in and instant, there is very little to go wrong then. The less irreplaceable points of failure the better in my book!
Youtube Review to follow as there seems to be nothing on the 605 up at the moment. I'm guessing that a video would probably be more informative in this matter (picture paints a thousand words etc..).
