I'm thinking of buying one, but I can't decide what model to get. Has anybody compared the performance of the different caps and bases? I expect the different caps will have different thermal conductivity, and the bases are likely to have different electrical resistance (presumably the painted ones having the highest resistance and the gold plated one having the lowest).
It's an $11 rda, never really gave any of that much thought...

Mine whistles, it's too fiddly with coil size/height/placement. It was replaced with a Hotcig Castle, much better.

I run the gold plated base (always a good choice) and the ultem cap to keep things cooler. The coil height is critical but once I got that right and trimmed the wick tails where they would not touch the sides of the cap the whistling went away. I use my wasp nano every day and love it.

Have you had the chance to use other caps, or are you going off of the physical properties of the materials? Is the gold plating on the threads holding up well?

Yeah, the material. Ultem doesn't seem to get hot like SS caps or especially aluminum. The vapor, now that can get hot if the coil is mounted too high.
Gold plating on the screws? I've never looked to see if it's holding up. When I re-coil the Nano, about 3 months from now, I'll report back.:)

I mean the threads on the 510 connector, are they holding up well or has some of the plating been stripped?

I don't think Wasp Nano has any metal caps, the ones I've seen appear to be made of:
Ultem (translucent yellow, translucent white, black): Wasp Nano RDA,RDA
Colorful resin: Wasp Nano RDA Resin Cap,RDA
Ultem (transparent, transparent yellow): Wasp Nano RDA Transparent Cap,RDA
If the choice were between metal and Ultem, I would pick Ultem without hesitation, but I don't know how these varieties of Ultem compare performance-wise.

I have Three of them, the black base with black cap, the gold with yellow cap, and the silver with white cap. I like the gold the best, then silver, and black the least, the threading on the gold and silver are fine, but on the black the threading is also black and seems to not want to screw on as easy and I would imagine it will wear off in time. not to mention possible voltage drop with a mechanical, I use them on my GBOX'S and Hcigar VT inbox. so I don't notice any drop. It is also easier to see the coil without taking the cap off with the yellow cap.

Thanks, that's great info. Have you noticed any one of the caps heating up less/more or cooling down faster/slower? Also, do you have the translucent/cloudy yellow cap or transparent/clear yellow cap?

Just checked the gold plating on the 510, still looks perfect. When given a choice between Ultem and Resin I always go Ultem because it's tougher. Resin cracks too easy when dropped. As far as caps getting hot, they shouldn't, not even aluminum. If an RDA, RDTA or RTA gets hot it's because it's not efficiently converting the ejuice to vapor. Too much power and especially to little power will cause an atty to get hot (with the latter very quickly). I can chain vape the bejesus out of my dual coil attys and all they do is get very warm, say after 10 pulls at 100+ watts . The nano never gets hot either but it took a while to figure out the proper build for my mech.

Like I said I like the gold the best, the cap I have is a cloudy yellow, some might not like it as it kind of looks like it is just nic stained. and I don't know but it just seems to have the best flavor even though I build the same in all of them. I like to use advanced vape wire 5 wrap spaced triple core flat fused wire comes in at .35 ohm 3.0 id just barely above or even with the air flow but under the top of the post height seems to work the best for me.

Aha. wasn't sure it was 510 compatible...that should make life easy. Thanks!
On some of the early ones, some people said they could not fit a 510 drip tip in theirs, but i have 2 early release ones, and a black one,and all of mine fit the tips fine.I hated this rda without a tip,but i put short drip tips on them and they are great that way.

Thanks, everybody, guess I'll go with the golden base + translucent yellow Ultem cap for the best experience (and eponymous appearance).

Hey bud, just a heads up, that clear yellow is actually PC, not ultem.

I really wanna get the one with the silver base and clear translucent cap, but I still worry about it cracking.

Does anybody here know of the wasp PC caps cracking?

I already owned the silver and the gold deck rdas with the ultem caps. There's honestly not much difference between them. I sold the gold deck rda and the silver deck rda is still in my rotation.

I'll recommend either of the two, but I personally prefer plain SS. Don't like the look of the gold that much.

Actually, reckon I'm gonna buy both the clear and yellow translucent cap rdas and see how it goes. If any of them do crack, they sell the caps separately on fasttech so it won't be much of a train smash.

Picked up one of these yesterday with a Pulse 80 to use while we're in Malaysia. Was looking to get a Recurve or Nudge 22 which I also use at home but no stock. Pleased I grabbed the Wasp. Very impressed for such a cheap atty!!

Just have a single wire coil in at the moment that the shop stuck in, 0.65, awesome flavor!! I like it more than the Nudge I think! Had a bit of noise from it at first but pushed the coil down some to just above the AF inlets, killed the noise. Great wide open, where it has more af than the Recurve, and very good closed half way down. Plan to get some Clapton NiCr later and stick a new build in, I'll try it dead level with the AF inlets and see how that compares.

I like the look of the blue/green resin tip too, just trying to find a site where I can order so that colour is not random. Might mail 3F Vape to see what they can do.

I have a fused Clapton in mine at AF inlets and t does get spitty dead even so,I suggest using a 510 drip tip.
That cut out the spit back for me.

Some good deals was found this past holiday weekend in Toronto so picked up one of these for the price of a Happy Meal at McD’s. Although mine never came with a little Hello Kitty toy :(

Works great, flavour is awesome but mine whistles really loud. I mean REALY loud! Is this common with this RDA or just how the air is hitting my coil. Haven’t really toyed with it much. I could live with noise (prefer not to) but my cat is giving me the eye. Seriously…she will start giving me **** if I upset her too much!
