I think I'm going to have to shop them all. Things have changed. My son has been saving for one, and has about $400, and I've had my laptop for about 3 1/2 years, so I'm going to need one soon. Thanks for getting this thread started . . . from one freak to another, LOL.

How about best for graphics design . . . who do you all think is best for Photoshop and all that??

I've been shopping the Samsung because Notion Ink has been irritating me. How does it perform?

It is not the fastest tablet in the world, but it works. It is after all a 2006 UMPC model so cannot be expected to be super fast. 900mhz processor, upgraded to 2gb ram, 40gb hdd and a 16gb flash 'in the pipe' on a CF card.800x480 screen is annoying but can be 'stretched' to 800x600 or 1024x600. Wifi, 3xUSB and digital audio out.

It is fine for audio, video and internet.

oh no question it has to be the hp elitebook tablet, highest model number you can afford. If you have the money!

Trust me this is the best made most reliable tablet ever made and I am currently selling my .... and children to afford it! (not having much luck with the .... and wifey wants to keep the children after all, so it might be a while!)

Apples and oranges. iPad is not a laptop.

I agree, but I wasn't bothered about the 'style' factor and just wanted a rockin' and rollin' games/internet/multimedia machine. This laptop scores high benchmarks on graphics. The screen is amazing too.
Also, with the iPad 2 coming out soon, I wanted to see how much better it will get before thinking about a purchase.

Pure slate (not convertible) best in class is Tabletkiosk's Sahara, if cost is not concern. My main computer, does ANYTHING (max out RAM to dual channel 4GB) thrown at.

Agreed here, this is an awesome (pure slate) machine and should mash the galaxy tab into the ground. But it's whether you'd go with the reliability overall of samsung? I still have my first clamshell phone - samsung SGH-E770 and its been down escalators (the rolling stairs we have in tube stations) and down normal stairs and ino mop buckets, the thing still works a dream and looks kinda stylish even now!

A good discussion here, you can't discount apple's cosmetic value in this, but personally I'm not into the apple scene for my own reasons which I'll leave off the table for now!

Love to all you happy vapers!

Dnx
