How does a base go bad? And, can it be fixed?

Let me explain because it is weird. I cleaned my Ceros and my Davide. I put in brand new coils. All was fine except for one of my Ceros was being read as having a 3.7 ohm coil. I thought I had a dud coil so I put a new one in. Still over 3 ohms. I put the tank on several different mods to make sure that it was the tank and not the mod, and they all read over 3 ohms. I took the coil out, put it in the Davide's base (I use aerotank v2 bases on all of them) put it on the Cero and it read 1.6 like it was supposed to. That leads me to believe that the base is bad. How does that happen?

I don't know but I had one go bad too, a long time back. Two actually, but only one was a Cero (the other was a Nauti).

I wish I had an answer for you, and sorry about the loss. :-(
