I'm new to vaping, and I've been reading all I could the past week, and it's really difficult to choose between the different models. I like the sigelei Z-Max, as it's available in mat stainless steel (the chromed aluminum body vapes all seem to scratch at the drop of a hat), and it's constant watt not just constant volts. I plan on using 1.5Ω carts, and the Sigelei tests out fine with low Ω carts. And it has a very nice OLED display.

PBusardo just mentioned a new vape that seems to have the same "guts" called the ANYVAPE CVI. It has a nicer looking (to me) casing, but I've never heard of them or that vape.

And then there's the Vamo, with the ability to use different size batteries, and the eVic with its advanced electronics... Really hard to decide. Any insights would be appreciated!

I don't post much to forums but I believe I might have the experience to help you!!

I currently have a SMOK Vmax as well as a SMOK Zmax.
The VMAX using only vari-volt seems to have a much more consistent drag. The Zmax bounces (Pulse Width Modulation) and feels almost like a pulsing hiss. This was noticed much more when using CE2 clearomizers.

I have not looked into the Sigelei Zmax but I did just purchase an ANYVAPE CVI which should be here by Thursday 1/10/2013. I plan on posting a video the day I receive it so keep a look out on YouTube towards the end of the week.

Also any VW/VV device I've used doesn't seem to like low ohm. If you are dead set on the Zmax I would find as many Sigelei vs Smok reviews as you can.

The CVI is at a sick price for 52$ at the "my vapor store" website. Hopefully I can update you when I receive it.

I have a Sigelei as well as two Smok Zmax V2s. Both of them can use either 1 18650 or 2 18350s with optional end cap. Pbusardo has a review of the Zmax on Youtube, saying much more scientifically than I am able that if you use the rms mode it's very consistent and pretty accurate. I don't have a Vmax so I can't comment on that device but I love..love..love both my Zs and the Sig. (I have an anyvape coming, because it's pink. :p ) Variable wattage, while not an absolute necessity is a really nice thing to have, especially if you have different resistance delivery systems as I did when I started vaping. I vape almost always at 8.0 watts (sometimes maybe down to 7 or up to 8.5 if the mood strikes) I no longer need to try to see what the little number of the head of a vivi is, don't need to check the ohms of any given atty, just change them out and same vape. I've had zero problems with any of them but personally I think the zmax is nicer aesthetically, and it's a tinch lighter. One of the Zs took a very serious sidewalk dive with me the first week that I had it, my tank broke but the z came through with no more than a scrape on the end cap.

I just happened to have had a vaptastic 4 days with the CVI, I own a Vamo, and have tried the Vmax. IMHO, the CVI performs better than them all. Reason being is for one, the CVI has a consistent drag that is lacking in the Vamo(Vamo circuitry same as Zmax) no rattle snake pulsing with the CVI. It possesses a more controlled voltage than the Vmax. And most of all it kicks all their ash when it comes to price.

I've got a hot pink CVI too. I like how light it is, the color of course, and the connector being able to take Kangers etc without an adapter is way good. The plastic screen cover with the logo on it drops off at times, and the threads on the connector aren't machined well, but for the price it's more than okay. =)
