Michael Felberbaum, an AP reporter who covers, among other things, tobacco-related news, sent the following message via Twitter yesterday:

Looking to interview some electronic cigarette users. If you are one, or know one, please contact me at mfelberbaum@ap.org!

Might be a nice opportunity for folks to share their stories. :)

Received a response:

Thank you for your email. Please let me know how best to contact you. Have you had any negative experiences in using your e-cig in public? I'm not sure where you are located, but if it is a place with any kind of smoking ban, have you had any interactions with restaurants or other people about them? Thanks again.

Sent a rather lengthy response and invited him to call us. Will let you all know.

The response I received was almost identical:

Thank you for your email. I will try to contact you later this week. Have you had any negative experiences in using your e-cig in public? I'm not sure about the laws where you are located, but if it is a place with any kind of smoking ban, have you had any interactions with restaurants or other people about them? Thanks again.

My reply was lengthy as well.

Good job folks. He is at the TMA conference, where Bill Godshall, Greg Conley, and I are manning (or in my case, womaning) a table with a display of a variety of tobacco Harm Reduction products, ranging from Nicorette, through smokeless & dissolvable tobacco products, through a variety of styles of e-cigarettes. I even brought my e-ecigar, which one guy tried out. He said it didn't taste much like a cigar, but I told him it sure did to me, but I was never a smoker of the real thing. We did point out that there are a variety of cigar flavors & strengths available in liquids.

Anyhow, the AP reporter was impressed with the number of responses he has received from this RFI (that's "request for information"--or maybe "request for interviews" in the case of a reporter) he sent out. Keep them coming. He might not contact all of you, but it is very helpful for him to see how popular these are becoming and how passionate we are about these products helping us.

Emailed him yesterday and got a reply four minutes later. Sounds like he's looking for vapers to share experiences about public vaping, particularly where smoking has been banned by law. He said he may call me later this week but after the detailed response I gave him, he may not need to.

He writes well and is an objective reporter. I suggested he peruse ECF for some keen insight and honest opinions.

If you Twitter and tweet, follow @MLFelberbaum.
