Don't laugh but.......i took a few moments for myself this evening and thru this together. It's rough but I though old 001 needed a steam cap. I'm thinkin I may need to build one of the new style top caps for 001 also;-)

Well here is the result from my 60 minutes of "arts and crafts time" [emoji15]

I completely agree. Build yourself a new one and shelf 001 and take it out for a rip every now and then. Its an awesome memento.I would never change it
I am probably gonna build another prototype for myself. I have been tossing around the idea of a sunken atty mod now that I have these short 6ml bottles for the mini[emoji57] probably won't work but got the crazy idea this morning. .....Bout the same time I got the steam cap idea.[emoji15]

I just got some Ross goodies in the mail this evening!

Got the mini velocity set up this evening. Just a simple 24g dual coil (Kanthal, that is), .21Ω. So far I'm very happy with it. I've only taken a couple toots as yet, and have some airflow playtime to put in before any more profound thoughts bubble to the surface. The pi2 is gonna have to wait until the weekend. I need to work long and hard tomorrow.

I love the shorter driptip! (say wha? :?: . . . I'm supposed to put a drip tip IN it? . . .. nawwww, that's silly!) Seriously tho, for a tailpiper like me, this is the perfect mouthpiece.

Thank you, Ross!

It would definitely work. It's the perfect diameter at slightly smaller than the ID of the cap. If I do use it, I'll drill the top of the cap and press fit it as far down as space allowed. But I was so wrapped up in finding a well made working compass this size, that I didn't really think about the face. I wish I could age it, or better yet change it to something more vintage. It'll probably end up in my backpack.
Ross, I've admired this mod from the first time you posted it in turbo's thread and was thrilled when you decided to make them available. I knew I would love it, but man you should of seen the smile on my face when I first held it. I still haven't gotten past the admiring phase to fire it up, but I can already tell this will be a daily driver. The thing has soul. It's one of those things you keep forever. Thank you!

The face was the same problem I came across when I was searching for a working compass. Couldn't find a vintage one in the correct diameter and functional.
However it is still a great looking piece and the mod is fantastical!!
Nicely done, great pics, and the brass derringer looks perfect!

I have said this before and I will say it again. It is my honor to make a few mods to share with my friends. Beyond that....nothing else matters[emoji4] I am so glad you like it and I hope it serves you well.....and if it doesn't I might know a guy who can fix it[emoji12]
