Good afternoon...just stopping to read a bit. I just had a root canal and my mouth is sore so I think I'll just rest until the Motrin takes affect!!
Either my dentist is really good, or I have a high threshold of pain. I had two root canals done in the same day and the only thing I took was antibiotics. The only thing I felt after the local wore off was a dull pain that went away by the next morning.

I know huh!! Like I've got some chunk going on now, I dream of those 6-pack, legs that could crush a melon days
Oh, I know where I would have been.....I was in AFROTC and I was slated for a missile slot, so I would be stuck down in a bunker somewhere in the Dakotas would be my best guess. Although admittedly those ROTC years were the best physical shape I've ever been in and probably ever will be in.

It's all about the activity. I haven't gotten chunky yet, knock on wood. BUT... there's a whole lot less I can eat now that I'm not running around working a 12 hour shift on my feet 95% of the time. I LOVE food too. We just got a new Planet Fitness here, $10.00 a month- unlimited use of the gym and I'm seriously thinking of joining just so I can eat more food.

I still have some physical issues goin that I may be stuck with ...so I've been gradually trying out more things that don't involve alot of bouncing, twisting ,lifting,or strain on my lower back and neck:rolleyes: ...My Physical therapist's exercises and stretches have been amazing for keeping me limber and strong. Hands down, walking ...and water exercise ..top my list of fav low impact activity. AND I've lost 5 pounds since last month!!

When I was in my late teens I could burn calories just sitting there. Hanging out with friends, I could eat 16 White Castles for lunch and still only weighed about 135 with a 28 inch waist. By my early to mid 20's went up to a 32 inch waist and 150 (this was my ROTC days). Now I'm a 35 inch waist and my weight is up to 190. What has hurt me has been telecommuting. Without having to leave the house to work, it's just so easy to plop my .... in the chair in front of the computer and snack all day long instead of eating balanced and actual meals.

Do I hear you there!! I really had to change my habits (they say that takes a good 21 days, so be patient and kind to yourself;))
When I get nervous or stressed , frustrated ..you name it...I start craving sweets...cookies. pastries...CHOCOLATE!
That's how I effortlessly put on the extra 30#s
You've prob heard about the "toss out all your junk food" approach..
But that's pretty much what I had to do...(luckily the neighbor's teenagers are bottomless pits so it didn't go to waste!)
Instead, I kept a constant supply of munchy crunchy veggies and rice cakes and lots of different fruit around the house.
But it had to be "Hand-to-mouth READY" ..if I had to peel it or scrape it ..forget it....I needed it NOW! :D It costs more for the already cut and peeled fruit and veggies...but if you are anything like me and need something NOW ...pre-cut and peeld is the way to go.
I would still get really bad cravings for sweets sometimes....When I started vaping all the fruity and sweet flavs really helped the craving and it gave me somethin to do with my hands ...besides smoke..and eat..know what I mean?;) When I DO break down and buy a box of Oreos...I have enuf will power to bust them into little baggies of 3's and stash or freeze the rest. And yes, I could eat a whole box by myself in one sitting without even giving it a thought before.
That's really cool that you get to work from home!:thumb: ..Besides not havin to work at all (retire well) ..working from home would be my Dream Job! :)
But I hear it takes alot of self-discipline...you're on your own..but with deadlines and commitments.

No, you definitely don't need to be beating yourself up at a gym but water exercise is really good activity as is walking. What about cycling? That's about the only thing I do actively anymore (well beside the chores around here), but winter is coming... all that good food.... all those pounds and I prob won't be out on the bike as much as I'll need to.

It cut out two hours of driving time to and from work......so that time can be used to do more work. Ahhh....the joys of being salaried. It just makes it way too easy for me to just sit at my desk and keep working, so I definitely put in way more hours than if I were working from the office. It originally started a couple of years ago of working from home one day a week, then went to working three days a week. Finally last year I started just going into the office one day a week and then they took my cubicle away so they could put someone in there who was working in the office every day.

I got ya beat there, I actually fell asleep during a root canal, the dentist had to keep waking me up to tell me to open wider. And nothing but local anesthetic what used, gas not allowed

I know different dentists do it different ways ...I've had many root canals done and some are bad and others not so bad ...this time I had to go to a specialists to see if they could open up the root...luckily they found it but lots of digging around ...antibiotics only take 2 days to kick in and will clean up any infection left in the tooth and also the pain. I had 2 doses of them before they even did anything....anyway ..I wish I was you and didn't hurt..lol! Getting 2 done in one day I would say your dentist was mighty good!! Lol today was the first time they gave me sun glasses to wear during the procedure..that was funny but they should have been made of gold for $800.00 and I still need a cap - do you have any idea how many mods and tanks I could have bought with 800 buckaroos..lol
