I don't have any allergies to bug bites but avoid them anyway. The pain is real with the wasps in this area. When they bite it feels just like a cigarette put out on your skin. And they bite the instant they land, in a nano second they've bitten and flown off. At first it's just a little sting but in the seconds that follow the heat and pain builds up just like fire.

I have a huge wild blackberry bush in the front yard. Every summer I pick from it but this year there was one area that was off limits. Wasps had a nest a little bigger than a baseball in there. One got me as I picked a berry before I knew it was there. I cussed that wasp then and every day that I had to avoid that area. It held the biggest, fattest berries... all guarded by the wasps. After awhile, it became a game to me to try and pluck a berry without getting stung. (They were so big and juicy and MINE!) If I was stealthy enough I could get the berry without shaking the plant or disturbing them. I even found that on a windy day I could get the berries within a couple inches of the nest since they thought the movement of the bush was just the wind. It was scary but the adrenaline rush and the berry prize made me do it. :D
LOL! I would LOVE to see video of that!!! :D

I would have done thr same thing! Lol I am not allergic to bees (of course it hurts and swells when I get stung but that's normal :) ) so I would have taken the risk too! My Dad has honey bees, and they are the only bees I like. Well, actually I also like bumble bees too. Both have such an important role in pollination. I was glad to hear that they made honey bees our state insect, and it is a big fine to kill them.

When I was a kid, we would catch wood bees, the big ones with the white spot on their heads. We would tie a piece of thread loosely around them and make it look like we were walking our pet bee lol
lmaooo....... only you! :D

Afternoon all. Good luck with the giveaway tomorrow? :)

Talk about wasps and yellow jackets. I think AR is the source for all of them on the planet. Leave a tiny crack anywhere for red wasps to get into your RV and they will literally cover the inside of your windows so thick you can't even see in. Of course that's during swarming season but dang I hate those things and we have them by the billions.

I'm a remodeler by trade now and I'm allergic to wasp stings; not a good combination. I carry an epipen in my work truck 24/7.

We were very innovative as kids as far as playthings went. Didn't have all the high tech stuff out now but, I can't say we ever passed away the time "walking pet bees". Not that we wouldn't have if we'd thought about it :D

Hahaha karen.....walking a carpenter bee, im gonna have to pull that one with the neighbor girl...she will truely love it, and completely freak her mom out at the same time...nomino is a baby doll in the greatest sense....and she is just so full of sass.
Haha... I have no child around to live vicariously through. I have to admit I've been running the process through my head and wondering if I could pull this off myself. I mean, you're never too old to have fun, right?

Ladybear, now I am jealous of you....my cousin down in perkasie just posted on fb that cirque de solie is coming to Allentown

I never did see that ...I wanted to see it in Vegas but it was way too expensive but I heard it was a great show. My dad went to see it in Vegas and didn't like it at all....he said there were too many things going on at one time and made him nuts trying to follow everything...lol. So he kind of took away my enthusiasm to see the show although I think he was the only person that I know that didn't like it!!! Come see it and visit me!

So I looked up walking bees and there are several youtube videos of bee walking. None were children though... all adults. :D
One guy was attacked by the bee in the end... served him right. Guess I won't be doing that 'cause I found myself feeling sorry for the bees :( I just can't imagine these people letting the bee go free after they'd had their fun.
