hey guys i work in the northern most part of Alaska in an oilfield,,there has been snow on the ground for about a month now
problem i am having is i carry my pv in a chest pocket at work and the carto gets so cold it is hard to inhale the 100% VG juice,,PG don't agree with me either

vodka and everclear are both viable diluter"s, but i could get fired just for having it in my e-juice,,seriously!!

got any ideas ??? solutions ???

Since thinning with alcohol is not an option (and dripping probably isn't viable for you either) - the only remaining suggestion I have is distilled water. If I remember correctly from all my long-ago DIY reading, 10% distilled water is about the dilution that all-VG fans typically use in DIY to thin out their juice. Undiluted VG is so thick, it can make cartos a no-go even at room temperature.

Hopefully you already know this, but in case you don't - many (if not most) flavorings contain some alcohol and/or PG. If you're vaping commercial juice, perhaps you should ask the vendor about their ingredients. I ordered some "all VG" nic base for DIY last winter and was quite surprised when it had the viscosity of PG; I expected it to be thicker. I found out that particular vendor thins their VG nic base with alcohol, not water. I would not have known if I hadn't asked.

Many vendors do not disclose their juice ingredients publicly, but will identify them to allergic/sensitive/concerned customers when asked.

If possible, you might want to try an alcohol-diluted version during non-work hours. It helps reduce all-VG's gunky buildup on coils. There was a substantial thread by "Switched" some time ago about his change to all-VG, due to PG sensitivity. His experience is why I (like Switched) use a few drops of PGA in all my DIY mixes, it does seem to help keep my atties/cartos cleaner. You may also find it helpful to change to a fresh carto more frequently during cold weather. Perhaps you could keep your PV in a pants pocket instead (small box mods are pocket-friendly) or maybe just the carto itself, and screw it onto the battery only when you want a vape.

There is a third juice base used by a minority of people who cannot tolerate either VG nor PG, but I forget exactly (perhaps PEG?). There are even a few juice vendors who offer it as an option... check out the DIY section of the forum for more info. I can't tell you if it's more or less viscous than the other bases, but it might be another idea for you to research.

Yea, I'd say it's not going to matter what's in your juice. If you can vape it safely and not have to worry about getting fired, it's likely going to freeze or have "cold" issues.

I think something like brian said above might be your only option. Maybe a little battery warmer or something. On the bright side, necessity is the mother of invention, so perhaps you can come up with something other outdoor working types can use in the winter.

PEG would work as it is of variable viscosity according to the type obtained. Standard PEG is PEG400, that is, of an equivalent viscosity to PG at room temperature. You could use it - or even better, a thinner grade if you could get it - to thin your VG.

There are two issues though:
- If you are intolerant to PG, you might find the same issue with PEG as it is nearer PG than VG.
- PEG is more likely than any of the other materials to have DEG contamination, so you should probably not use any from a 'cheap' supplier, it would need to be US pharma grade and sourced from a US or CAN pharmacy.
