Hello, I only use genesis atomizers, single ss mesh wick set ups with 28g kanthal and possibly adding ribbon wire to the mix. I do not anticipate going below .6-.8 ohms. My question is, will I draw any great benefit from getting an mnke batt or the new 30A sony batt versus my current 10A cgr18650ch?

I saw a video posted here comparing the cgr18650ch and the sony 30A battery using a tankometer, and even though they are freshly charged to 4.2 volts, they dropped to 3.68 and 3.78V or so respectively under load when fired. So wouldn't i be able to run a .4 ohm coil even on a fresh panasonic battery as well due to the drop under load (3.68V/.4ohms<10A) ?

My mechanical mods are on the way, just wanted to confirm this before doing any experimenting that would fry my battery. Thanks all

4.2v (freshly charged 3.7v li-chemistry) /.4 ohms= 10.5A. Voltage sag is a little different from the amp rating of a battery. Its more the quality of the internal chemistry components, and the amount of power reserve, rather than the max sustained discharge rate that reduce sag. This becomes more of an issue with sub-ohm and/or dual sub ohm coils when chain vaping as it does not allow much time for the battery to recover. You also have to remember the contacts of the mod will add some to the resistance, so even a .4 ohm coil on the meter will be higher when the contact resistance is figured in.

Im no expert on batteries but Id like to believe Ive done my homework. I think that is correct. Unless you are below .06 then I wouldnt say the mnke has much benefit.... aside from maybe more leverage, lead time, if there was a hard short above 10A discharge on the pannys.

I ended up going with the protected panny ncr18650a's because they have an 8A limit. The protection makes me feel a bit better but I only run .8-1.4 ohm coils. When I use the other unprotected pannys I use a holocron fuse when I can although that will limit you to around 5amps I believe.

thanks quik, i know amp rating is differnt, and that is what i am concerned about actually. do i need a 30A battery when i wont go below .4ohms? what would be the benefit, if any?

There really isn't in this case. The loads you will be operating under are within the limits of the current batteries you have. it's a 'bigger is better' philosophy for many in tha vaping world, who can have the lowest ohm coil, the most expensive mod, blow the biggest clouds etc, and nowhere is that as prevalent IMO as the sub-ohm crowd judging from the plethora of youtube videos you see. I am not saying you or anyone else in this thread is a part of that culture, but it definitely exists. Burst rates are generally anywhere from 50-100% higher than the constant discharge rates in most cases I've seen. The 14.8v Li-Polymer batteries I use in my RC car are rated for 390 amps continuous (refered to in this case as 60C) with a burst discharge capacity of 100c (650 amps) or more. Try that on a sub ohm coil...*ROFL*

well put Quik, that burst discharge like you said, will give me more room to work with if i choose to make an even lower res coil. I must say, i think i will eventually fall into that sub-ohm culture of vaping u speak of... lol. but right now, without any mechs, i am using my vamo at 5+V and wrapping the absolute lowest res coil on my gennys that it allows (1.2ohms) and drilled out all my top caps to 5/64in and one even to 3/32. I like it a lot, i still feel a nice, slight resistance to my draw, i like seeing the vapor billow out, i get more flavor (many would disagree on this) and i can only imagine how it'll be when i can get even more wattage with much less restrictions (i.e. the type of battery) on a mech. Only thing that i can't see myself using, which i see many people in the sub-ohm "community" doing, is dripping RBAs. No patience to keep pouring liquid as i vape, and i dont like working with silica/cotton/etc as it gives me flashbacks to rebuilding vivi novas.

I started out on a Trog screwdriver, then a 5v GLV2 and an original GGTB(both I still have). I never really got into mechanicals back then. Of course that was prior to IMR chemistry and any sort of tank system until I got my AFS. I just never liked them much. Then I got my Darwin after going through some of the early VV stuff (like my Buzzes and Sabretouch) and I was hooked on VW. Now I'm seriously considering getting into RBA's and experimenting with the ceramic hybrid wicks and SS cable etc. I love my VV, but its become so second nature (and easy to use) that I kinda miss the old days of having to fiddle with stuff ;)

Absolutely, i was fascinated with the VW capability of the Vamo, it was actually why i got it. But when i realized my preferred vape is over 20 watts, i just use it in VV mode now. I do like fiddling as well which is why i love my genesis attys. i just replace coils that dont even need replacing or remove wicks and try a different kind of roll even when it was wicking fine. I just enjoy tinkering with these attys and absolutely love that moment when i can get the coils to glow evenly, it just looks cool to me. strange, i know, but it's a fun hobby, and the time (mostly) and money spent on it is nothing compared to damage that real cigs were causing my body. This forum is great, but i need to be careful sometimes to not get lost....I know i only have a few dozen posts, but i have spent many a night just looking up threads on answers to questions i never had and devices i never heard of (quik, i don't know of any of the devices u mentioned except the Darwin, lol) just because i can. Also, i don't think i am going to get into anything other than ss mesh right now. i am heading out to school in the caribbean in 3 weeks and i dont want to get too many new materials to distract me.

Yeah after doing this for 3 1/2 years I've sold more mods than most people will ever own. The problem I have these days, especially with the mech/rebuildable crowd is the boutique mods at artificially inflated price points. Yes I paid $250 for my Darwin, but it was far superior (technologically speaking) to anything available at the time including the ProVari IMO and is still superior to 98% of the mods available. Paying $300-700 for a mech/hybrid is something I cannot wrap my head around as I know what it costs for materials and machining. I mean I can buy a set of CNC machined aluminum cylinder heads for my car for that money.

I feel it has become just another way to try to measure your johnson against someone else to prove your 'cooler' than the next guy. We all know vaping is better than smoking, but the projection that vaping is 'cool' and the elitist attitude some people have adopted is not good for the group as a whole as far as I am concerned. I bypassed cig-a-likes and ego's not because big battery mods were cooler, but because I knew that the superior vapor production and battery life would give me a better chance to stay off analogs.

that's exactly the way i got off analogs. egos and convenience store e-cigs made me miss analogs, then i got a vamo and got into genesis vaping. i don't know when i'll put down over 50 bucks for any single device, as i have a vamo (an ego and a vision spinner which i gave to my gf), 2 did clones, 2 rssts, an agat2, and a cheap unknown genesis clone i got for free at a vape meet. so yea, everything in my kit ranges from $8-$30. The same goes for what i currently have on the way from fasttech which is a kts, k100, sentinel clone, 2 cobra clones (misnomer i feel, just a bigger did clone), an SS vamo V2. I spent a good amount to stock up on batteries and mesh and wire as well. got 6 panasonic 18650's, 6 efest 18350s and 4 aw 18350s, 2.5 square feet of 500 mesh, 125ft of 28g kanthal, 50ft of 29g and 100ft of 31g. I think i have all i need to keep me happy and tinkering while i'm away in isolation at school in the caribbean till christmas time. possibly when i come back i'll try and get a solid mech mod/hybrid/atomizer that can be the jewel of my collection. not looking to spend over a 100 bucks on a device though. any suggestions?

wow nice thread. looked at the price of these suckers on okcvapes as they carry some pinoy mods. all well over 100 bucks. i think i'm gonna feel out these clones (like the sentinel [$17]) i'm getting and if i am satisfied (which i'm pretty sure i will be), i'll just wait for some of those others in the thread to be cloned as well **fingers crossed**

i too have no complex like you were saying about having the best of the best. i like what looks cool, however, at the lowest price. I have been nothing but pleased with what im getting from all my devices (all under 30 bucks, all sturdy and functioning like new after couple months of use), i dont see how something that is 150 bucks could be realistically 5x better of a vape. like i said looks are a bonus, but sure as heck am not about to shell out for that alone. i think i will start a thread asking this very question - why is it worth it, in terms of VAPE QUALITY (not moral issue or that it looks cooler), to get an original mechanical device over a clone?
