I need to learn how to solder!

Where do I learn how to solder?

On the modders threads of this forum there is a tutorial for soldering. I'm a clutz, tried it...made a mess, but it might help you.

I don't think much will happen actually. This system is too simple for others to make their own if necessary and sell it underground, and juices are easy enough to do. I may be overly optimistic, but I think the market may have jumped ahead of them on this one. I'm hoping anyway. They ban these and I have no access to vaping, then it's back to analogs. I've tried everything under the sun before, and I finally decided you know what, I don't WANT to quit and shouldn't damn well HAVE to either!

Best way to learn to solder is to pick up a learning kit from either Rat Shack or Jameco. Depends on whether you want to do through hole or SMD work. You can buy kits that are used for re-certifying soldering techs that are very challenging. Do a Google and you will come up with many ideas. Then try a small project to test your newly learned skills on. Many places like Jameco sell kits of varying degrees of difficulty.
Hope that helped.

I am a bit in the middle...I think the only thing that will truly be difficult to get if FDA gets involved (or the tobacco companys with the FDA) is the nicotine, so I started stocking (have about 120 ml of 100 mg in PG) up a bit. I am also working on my hubby and two sons who smoke, so I'm working on DIY stuff a little at a time, as well. I figure I'll keep replacing what I use until I hear that a ban is getting closer to reality.

As far as the actual hardware, I would guess that they couldn't ban it if it is used as something else, say a diet aid for those who "inhale the sweets so they don't eat".

All that being said, I'd like to order cartos for 510 in bulk (again, with the hopes my boys and hubby will switch over), so anyone who would like to share info with me - please pm me!

I’m just wondering if there is anybody that frequents this board that still believes that the government has our best interests in mind?

No way do they have our best interest in mind! Don't get me wrong, I'm very much a patriot, served many years in the Army and loved every minute of it, but our government has been on a downslope for quite some time when it comes to OUR best interest. I believe that our politicians are all looking out for their own wallets, so whomever lines their pockets with the most cash will win this outcome.

I need to learn how to solder!

Where do I learn how to solder?

A friend is cheaper, but there's always the local tech school or youtube.

Soldering can be learned quickly. It's just a matter of heating up a metal contact point and feeding a solder wire into the junction. The trick us to develop your technique so that you melt the solder at the proper temp without burning up your work piece. You can buy an iron at Radio Shack and start experimenting by tinning pieces of stripped wire.

Now that we are getting famous people on board with Ecigs, our case has strength. Its a matter of educating the general public. I look for good things out of government involvement. Yes, the prices may go up a little due to the cost of regulation and testing, but safety issues will be addressed (if there are any) and we can be assured of a healthy vape.

I just hope that the habit doesn't cost as much as smoking due to taxes on juice and hardware. That's a real concern. I'd hate to pay the cost of a carton of cigarettes for a 20ml bottle of juice due to taxes. Roll your own made the cost of analogs go down and making ejuice is a matter of buying the flavorings, nic base, and PG or VG.

Is this true? They're currently confiscating shipments?
From the Wall Street Journal article...
E-Cigarettes Spark New Smoking War - WSJ.com

The FDA won a stay of Judge Leon's ruling, pending an appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The agency is still detaining and refusing entry of e-cigarettes, a spokeswoman says.

Ms. Vasconcellos says that she has lost tens of thousands of dollars on shipments from China that were blocked by the FDA and that the agency's actions make it tough to do business. The FDA has refused to allow e-cigarette battery chargers and other products Ms. Vasconcellos has ordered from China and other countries, according to FDA documents reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. To try to stay under the radar, Ms. Vasconcellos orders shipments in smaller packages and has them sent to friends' homes around the U.S.
