looking to invest in another mod I have my eyes set on one already but the problem is the legit one is going to cost me about $250-350 for the rda, mod, and ironically for a rda cap ( appearance ) where as the clone is only $45-70.

I am wondering are clones safe compared to the legit mods and rda's or they just are made of different materials/countries and look different.

Varies widely. Some are so close they appear to be from the same factory. I've purchased Subtank clones from Fasttech, and you simply cannot tell the difference, even if you disassemble them completely.

But it can be really iffy sometimes. I bought an iStick clone, and it lasted all of a week.

Is it regulated or mechanical? There are a lot of really good clone mechs. Regulated mods can vary widely though. I have a couple that are great. Others I've changed the chip on though because I wasn't happy with them as they were.

Also with so many affordable regulated mods from Sigelei, P4U and others I feel my best bet is to buy those instead of regulated clones. If you just really want the form factor of the clone mod, just realize you may have to do a chip and/or 510 change to be happy with it. Or you may not. It can be a gamble.

it's the tug boat box mod not sure what the exact name of it is beside that. I was looking at reviews just now seems okay but then I see some cons that I probably wont like with the clones so I'm just going to buy the legit ones. what are chips btw o_O. might also purchase another one for about same price/ cheaper. mainly was going for that mod because of how it looks and size but I found another that probably performs better and like I said same price/cheaper

what are chips btw
Chips are the electronics that dictate how a regulated mod works (safety features/how low you can go, wattage/voltage, etc).

The Tugboat is an unregulated mod so it has no chips. Similar to a mechanical mod but its switch is wired, so it's considered an unregulated mod and not a mech mod.

The only way to control your wattage/voltage is to build a different coil or install a different Ω stock coil (if you do not rebuild). No safety features with an unregulated/mechanical mod.
