Suggesting a mechanical to someone completely new to vaping / what the OP is asking about isn't helpful and could end up being too frustrating to use or even dangerous.

Bullcrap.

You left out the part about the learning curve; battery safety, needing a good charger & batteries, if you don't use regular store bought toppers then building / wicking coils, airflow, ohms meter /multimeter for testing resistance etc.

And what did I suggest?

A Boge XXL compatible cartotank, right? That would come with premade coils, right? That eliminates all your unnecessary worries about safety.

RIGHT?

Most vv/vw regulated APV's use unprotected batteries, mechanicals use protected = not the same batteries.

If you're using off the shelf retail coils then it's not going to make ANY difference. If it really bothers you then you can add a Kick along with the unprotected battery, but it's not necessary at all.

If I was suggesting getting into RBAs/RDAs, that would be one thing, but all I'm talking about is using a mech mod like an eGo on steroids. Since it's all premade retail toppers and coils the safety concerns have been eliminated. They are ALL designed to work well within the safe limits of ANY 18650 battery.

I have been using an iTaste vv 3.0 with a PT 2 on top. It has been working great, except for the battery life. The nice part about the vv is it's a pass through design so when it needs to be plugged in you can keep vaping. I'm outside and in my truck most of the day as well. All that being said, I just ordered a VTR.

Sent from a van down by the river.

I think some here are missing this when they suggest mods.

Some smokers do indeed have a habit of keeping their cigarette clenched between teeth. I did all the time because it kept my hands free. Now I simply use Joye510 mini's. (They're actually knock-offs without that silly-assed glowing tip). They're cheap and light in the mouth. The downside of course like all small things is the battery life. If he's not going to chain vape then 2 hours+ is realistic. I carry about 4 batteries with me in my pocket and at least one USB charger in the car.

Plenty of small cartomizers/clearomizers to mount on these things as well.

Thanks. Your comments are exactly the type I was looking for.

i am in this same situation right now, going to be back working outside in a month maybe 2.

from what ive learned so far snowplowing with my spinner is that the lanyard makes its readily accessible and somewhat protected tucked in a sweatshirt, but its a real hassle trying to plow a parking lot with one hand holding down my fire button. i need one hand on the wheel and one hand on the plow controller.

so my solution so far is (ta da) lightweight autofire battery i can clench in my mouth for those times, and my other device (solid mech mod im shopping for) kept in the truck for lunch, breaks, other jobs etc.. or i saw a 6 inch plus long flex drip tip lol lookd like mini dryer vent, figured that on a joggers ipod armband thing would get close enough for me to suck on from a mowing/bike riding position.

im mostly worried about what i would do when i mowed the grass at highway rest areas, thats hours of time that it is absolutely critical that my hands cant come off the controls. ( and a critical smoke time :D )

my only concern is finding a autofire battery that wont just keep firing riding on a loud, vibrating mower, because i know what triggers the autofires varies. so if anyone has a recommendation for me please....(fingers crossed)

to relate back to what others have said,

i work landscaping and a variety of actual tasks in the field, and depending on what you are actually doing that day i could see both sides of the discussion evolving here. on a day where im not in a "time crunch mode" i could see having a solid mech in my pocket to pull out and use as i please.

BUT, and a bigBUT,

i can see needing a liphanger, especially if thats a habit for you already. i just gotta have it for those smoke-along type jobs (mowing/plowing etc)

i used a few disposables plowing and man were they nice. (for and hour or 2!)
