Are HV attys necessary with 5-6V devices?

I am planning on getting an Xhaler, and running it at 5-6V, using regular 510 atomizers. I understand there is a popular "sweet spot" of 9-12 Watts, and this combination should obtain a value in that range, if the reported resistances I have seen for 510 atty's are correct (2.3-2.5, or 3.1 for DSE 510's)

Math in case you want to see it: W=V2/R

At 5V: W=10.9=5*5/2.3

I understand that my atomizers may not last as long performing more work like this, but is there some other reason I'm not seeing that I need to be using HV atomizers? They must be offered for sale for some reason; perhaps to simulate 3.7V vaping on a 5-6V device?

Thanks for your time and for sharing your experience,

Yes, with a regular atomizer, 5V delivers what many regard to be the sweet spot ~10 watts. HV* attys (i.e., high-resistance) are for 6V+; LR attys (low-resistance) are for use with 3.7V (or even the eGO's 3.2V) to yield a similar 8-10 watts experience. I don't think most HV atty users are trying to simulate 3.7V vaping. Better to stick an 18650 battery in their mod to get much higher mAh (and increased safety) than two stacked 3.0V or 3.7V batteries.

* HV = high voltage, meaning they are intended for such levels. This acronym initially was applied back in the "old" days (i.e., about three months ago;)), when most vapers thought only in terms of voltage, not watts.

All of that assumes that your preferred level is the same as the "many." For example, fellow veteran Kurt has written that he prefers a lower level. I'm somewhere in between and it varies: for long, lingering vaping sessions, a regular penstyle aty on a fully charged Kr8 or 14500 battery (i.e., 4.2V) is perfect; for quick, hard hits, I put an LR atty on my battery to achieve that ~10 watts.

A slightly different view that more reflects my experience:

IOW - 5 volt is too hot for the regular 510 atty. Yet I can vape all day with the 901 or cartomizers on my 5 volt.

The other thing is you can get just as much vapor with the 3.7peak volt mod battery like a 14500 in combination with the regular 510 atty as you can using a 5 or 6 volt device where the HV attys have higher ohm ratings and are 'dumbed down' a bit so as not to burn out or burn out taste.
