I've noticed that some of my REO's do flood. The ones that do flood, have long wicks in comparisons to the pictures that you guys make. I mean when I watch the pics of the "masters" they seem to barley touch the ceramic. My wick ends, on the other hand, are tucked between the post. I've noticed that when the vapor is weak and I pull the cap off, there is juice build up in the atty, often to the point of leaking when I open the atty. Just wondering should I be making shorter wicks? Thanks guys.

Clip them and see if it doesn't work better. I make pretty short wicks....they end at the edge of the posts pretty much. If the wicks are too long, they can block the juice from draining back down the squonk hole. You really don't need much wick at all.....I never have enough to "tuck" it anywhere. It doesn't really even need to reach the ceramic because when you squonk, the juice will come way up into the RM2 and wash over your wick and coil. Clip them short, then take the drip tip off and squonk. You'll see how much juice comes up and covers the coil.

Right, so if that 80 is a VG, I can reassure you a shorter wick will still hold a good saturation. If it's 80PG, might be a bit runny . . .. . and then I don't know if the very short wick will do. Mostly, just leave a clear path from the concave center of the deck to the drain hole. Maybe just one long wick leg, on the far side from the drain and take it outside the post?

Hi JC Okie! You know the problem with the REO? It works so much better than my other old equipment that even though things are not perfect with my setup, I am fully satisfied! I mean looking at the pictures, I need to work on coil placement also. I thought I was supposed to avoid getting the coil close to the squank hole. However, looking at some pictures, I see people are putting the coil almost on top of it (your recommendations?). I still vapes 20 times better than my tank/Provari setup LOL!

It's 80pg. I think you are right, either way, I should be making shorter wicks. I mean it's like a have a "clump" of cotton in the middle. PDLIB, what about coil placement, should it be over the hole? 1/2 way?

The only thing about the hole is to not block it. Mine usually end up over it (but way up high). coil height is also important. height centered on air hole is standard. Higher than that (coil above air hole center) and you'll be getting into sharper flavors and throat hit. lower than centered gets you a smoother vape, but with muted flavors.

here's a pretty typical placement for me.

and a longer coil

and more wick if PG is problematic

Too distracted by your pretty pictures to even notice what you wrote. hahaha

Ha! I'm almost intimidated to even jump into this thread anymore.....these hotshots left me in the dust a long time ago. I do a nice little micro coil using a 16 gauge needle (thank you super_X_drifter) using 30 gauge wire....about 6 - 8 wraps.....comes out about 1.4 ohms or so.....when I put it on, the legs are pretty uniform and the coil is about halfway between the posts and the edge. It vapes great. I'd rather just enjoy the vape and not deal with making/changing/experimenting/perfecting/"gilding the lily" on coils. I found my perfect vape and stopped there. There may be a MORE perfect vape, but I don't need to find it. :)

Good on ya', Jan! All this fiddling around is ONLY because I LOVE to tinker. It is completely tangent to having a great vape while doing the things that make you happy! :)

like sending me that REO/RM2, should I be watching for the mailman yet?

I totally get the need to tinker.....I just don't have it as much as you guys. And about that "extra" REO/RM2 I was looking for.....and gonna send you.....well, turns out I couldn't find an extra one ANYWHERE. And I mean, I looked! I really, REALLY wanted to find one for you.....it would have made me feel soooo good to do that for you. :) I looked all over this house, checked my office, and even looked in the car.....zero, zilch, nada, nothing. Couldn't find it. BUT.....I'll keep looking, and if I find one, you'll be the one I send it to.

You don't need to be stalking the mailman yet....I'll send you a tracking number when I drop it in the mail. As long as you DON'T have a tracking number from me, you can assume I haven't found it............
