I'm going to start DIY mixing soon, gathering all the supplies, almost ready to get started. One thing I've been looking at was picking up an rda so that I can try small recipe batches, etc. without have to hassle with switching flavors in tanks.

I've noticed at a few online stores that they have several rda's but most are discontinued or listed as out of stock. Has the rebuildable drip atomizer gone the way of Dodo bird?

In DIY, I used to use several RDAs for taste testing. But, I found that my sense of taste changed throughout the day. Tasting just in an RDA was not enough.

I make 5ml samples now. I fill an extra tank, put it on a mod and keep it with my daily. I get a much better sense of the flavor over a one/two day period.

No there are still tons. What sites were you looking at and for what RDAs?

Also, there are times I suggest a brief perusal of the clearance sections if you are looking for something specific. BECAUASE new ones are coming out all the time.

I refuse to believe the Dodo is dead. I know it is, I just would love to meet one they sounded lovely.

I have a Routine.

At that is after I read my e-Mails/News/ECF New Posts I go to Fasttech and look at the Newly Listed Atomizers.

I Don't really do to it to buy something. Because I have kinda reached Nirvana when it comes to Hardware. More just to see what has come out. That, and it is a Routine.

I would say that 4 out of 5 of the New Atomizers listed on FT are RDA's. And there are at least 2 or 3 listed Every Day.

So No... I Don't really think that RDA's are a thing of the past.

They didn't appear smart. no:lol::lol::lol:. Them again some of my favorite people are idiots.

I thought it was their lovely foliage (something to do with hats?) that did them in, not how tasty they were.

But yea, if I could find one and if I wore hats, I could see it being tempting. And it would probably be smart to NOT eat it, if I captured the last dodo. Hats can last a long time, and it's not like if Dodos tasted like say, Alligator (so good) I could get my hands on another.

I don't think I'd eat one. Probably pluck a few feathers though, you know, for proof.

You don't necessarily need a RDA to easily sample flavors. If you are not already RBA ready and willing, you can go the "old school" route and use a disposable 510 drip atomizer.

You may also want to invest in a drip shield to prevent leakage of e-liquid onto your mod.

510 atomizers require a 510 to 510 adapter

I know what you mean about some RDA's out of stock. I suspect the profit margin is pretty low for original RDA's and styled RDA's are extremely cost effective.
The adaptability and simplicity of an RDA is the closest definition of the ideal atomizer in my book.

You can get some top notch attys on Clearance as @stols001 said. I’ve probably got 1/2 of mine that way. Because so many are coming out the attys from 6 months ago and longer usually go on sale or Clearance. I’ve bought some top RBAs and mods this way. They may not be the new kid on the block but they were 6 months or so ago and work fantastic!!

I’ve been vaping for a year now and mostly just drip using RDAs. I probably have over 30 at this point. It’s a bit of an obsession and new ones are always being released.

So no,I don’t think RDAs are a thing of the past at all.

Generally RDA's have a fantastic flavour. Back in the day it was about the only way to get decent flavour and IMO even though tank atomizers are pretty good on the flavour side of things you still can't beat an RDA.....get one you'll love it :D

I'm not going to mark your post with an X but I disagree for the most part. I have used both RDA's and RTA's and I really don't notice much flavor difference between them. What I will concede is that it may make more of a difference with more complex flavor profiles. Most of the juices I use are simple single flavor juices. I will also say that coil choice and quantity may also be a factor. I exclusively use single coil simple round wire SS316L coils in all of my RDA's and RTA's. Perhaps comparing a dual coil Clapton RDA to a dual coil Clapton RTA might be more of a difference.

If you are looking for something simple to build and good flavor, look no further:
Entheon Styled BF RDA - $10.23

I don't think RDA's will ever go away, but I have noticed there seems to be a BIG push in the industry toward pod type systems and drop in coil tanks. I really think this is because they would rather sell you a tank and LOTS and LOTS of coils instead of just a tank one time. All about the $$$$.
