It actually has to do with their global shipping program. As you might know, ecig related gear is prohibited on eBay. Usually this is not a problem, you send them your money and they send you the gear. Both sides are happy. If they send it though the global shipping program though, it becomes a problem as they will stop the shipment part way when they figure out the shipment is prohibited. "Any item that is prohibited on eBay can't be shipped using the Global Shipping Program."

What happens after they stop the shipment is unknown as the thread is still ongoing. I will try to find out what happens though.

Also I have bought from eBay before and the seller sold me fake gear, I made a claim and the claim was shut down after PayPal deemed it was ecig related. End result I was out of money. Never did find out what happened to my money (if the seller was able to keep it or whatnot)

Is it an advisory posting or a Rant from someone that is unable to shop wisely?

I have been a successful Ebay Buyer and Seller since 2004.
Feedback 100%
Unresolved issues -0-

:)

I been a buyer/seller since 2002 with 100% feedback too. It only takes one bad purchase for you to be out of hundreds of dollars as I have found out.

Also, it is neither, just some dude wondering what happened to his package.

Neither Ebay, nor PayPal has any control whatsoever over any Item once it is in the hands of a Shipping company. Nor, do they have any right or control over online printing of Shipping labels authorized by any Shipping company.

Sounds like your poster needs to look deeper.

Ebay/PayPal Can Cancel a Dispute over Any item on their Not allowed list.
EBay Can remove Listings, Cancel Auctions, Block or Ban Sellers for Violations of Agreement.

Customs Can, at will, stop/Seize any Package exiting or entering a Country. Choosing to take that Risk is on the Buyer.

I done some digging. Seems eBay does have the power to stop your shipment (sent through eBays Global Shipping Program) . What seems to happen with the poster was that the shipment was sent, eBay then deemed it was a restricted item and stopped the shipment. What I also found was that the payment may be reversed and the seller may be out of luck on this one.

An issue with Ebay/Pitneybowes and Not the Main stream shipping system.

Purchases Made with Global shipping Program partners Do Not Ship directly to the Buyer.
The Seller Ships to Pitney Bowes.
Pitney Bowes inspects, separates and and in some cases, Repackages to Cut shipping cost.........at the risk of Shipping Damage due to poor packaging.

Seems to be a rather interesting Scam which does NOT involve the Actual Shipping companies - USPS/DHL/ETC.
i.e. EBAY cannot stop a package in normal shipping stream.

Yea, eBay may say it is prohibited, but all a seller has to do is NOT put ecig or e-cigarette in their title or listing, and it gets listed...no problem. They just use words now like vaporizer, vape pen, vape tank, atomizer, etc. People who vape can still find almost any vaping gear, supplies, accessories, etc. that they want on eBay. If eBay ever pulled or ended ALL listings having anything to do with vaping...they'd lose way too much money for greedy eBay!

Interesting, I've always stayed away from the global shipping program cause of the bogus importing fees they make you pay up front. I did state that this situation was about the shipping program and not actual shipping companies, which I was about to suggest using if you were to buy from eBay.

Would really like to hear how this turns out. Like, are they really gonna reverse the funds and keep the item or whatnot.

The point is not if you can, but what happens when **** hits the fan.

Would also like to state, I posted too much too early, really only wanted to find out if it was ok for me to post the reddit link. Really would of liked to find out what happened before posting an advisory against using eBay and the global shipping program for vape related gear.

I got burned in the past and even though it does not seem to happen often, would like to warn others about this.

Just an update.

pixelcowboy

"Got a full refund without even asking for it. It's a shame that ebay is not an option."

Scy123

"Can I ask who refunded you? PayPal or the seller?"

pixelcowboy

"I guess the seller had to, through Ebay. The message said:

eBay ruled in your favor in your dispute case

I hadn't formally opened a dispute case yet, but I guess it was processed automatically as the shipping to Canada was not allowed."

So, like it said on eBays website. The payment was reversed. No idea what will happen to the product, but eBays website says it may be destroyed or resold.

Seems the seller will get the shaft on this one and not the buyer.

Alright, thanks for your reply, I will not post it.

........and My apologies for misunderstanding. I have not tripped over Global shipping, which in itself is rather shady and shines a Negative light on the shipping industry as a whole. I Will be diligent in avoiding such purchases from Of shore companies.

*** Note, I have a real issue with Pitney Bowes playing the part of Customs. Who are they, to say what Will or will not clear Customs?

*We will not ship a product that WE deem, may not meet import approval........But we WILL Repackage products in a manor that may cause Damage to Occur.*
